Ill see about the cossie after all its for a bit of fun. I was trying to think how I could look like a xmas tree. I think Mighty Saguaro has an advantage there at least

Yep Christmas Cactus is coming to the Hive, chances of success or no chances. Stopping off at the £1 shop in Kings' to get baubles 1st tho... or is that the 1INF shop?
19th it is? 7pm meet, 8pm start sounds good enough.
Edit: Yeah, can we please get a GM_Chuck or Max type presence there in some form or another. We'll bring mince pies & sherry!
-
YAY! Grats Mack'. Chuffed you hit it, & even more chuffed at being there to see it. Very well deserved for a very genuine & great fun player!
Damn, you drove so hard for it you didn't even train up between 47 & 50!!!
And yeah, that coalitioned team did rock! Can't wait to do it again! (Go go Anz'!)

And for keeping those regen's ticking over. Your dicey moments will be those where you suddenly find yourself with Reconstruction & Dull Pain on down time. Particulary if you live by the Zen Of The Scrapper code & are still taking on obscenely sized odds, even after ED.
Right about Quills too. With both QR & Stamina, Quills can get your stamina dipping in a nasty way. I'm keeping it myself, but it takes some management. I like puting those Slow enh's in so prefer not to have to stick end reductions in those precious spaces. It just means managing when to have it running or not etc. -
Grats Azrael

Was fun seeing you ding.

A good Mastermind with the Dark secondary is often a surprise star of PVP.
Scrappers & regen's aren't neccesarily the gods people make out. Integration maybe stops you from flying around a bit, but when so many powers toggle drop it actually counts for squat. Any player with a slow, immob, or debuf can rip a scrapper apart in short order. Playing a scrapper often seems a little too similar to having to play a stalker. Not very heroic at all. -

I'd suggest a petition for harrassment. The volume of constant jibes & remarks from some individuals, made over a server wide channel is ridiculous. Keep your opinions & comments out of other peoples gametime & act accordingly please. -
I haven't had any problems with IR goggles. I've been able to spot Stalkers coming at me easily, & I'm pretty sure I haven't been AS'd by a stalker I didn't know was there whenever I've had them. What I did find is there are some Stalkers who've built for some extra stealth in someway (I know precious little about them, so I couldn't say how. I'm guessing additional Stealth pool powers maybe) & whilst I could see these guys, I sometimes couldn't target 'em. But spotting them did allow me to fire off a spine burst when they tried to get in to AS me.
Even so, I've still been grabbed by a couple of the really good Stalker players out there. I don't mind the Stalker AT's at all, I think the sense of paranoia when playing as a hero adds to the fun a bit, & it's pretty rewarding when you get one over on them back. -

I can see large bases and IoP being really good reasons to join an SG. I think players might start leaving their SGs to join an SG that has had success in gaining an IoP either through Base Raids or doing the trial.
No doubt there will be guides on building the best Bases and the best defensive layout soon enough.
[/ QUOTE ]
Lol, I don't think people that would leave an SG to join another for a puny buff are really getting all they can out of their SG in the first place then.
I wouldn't mind seeing the trial or a raid at all, but that's all dependant on how the rest of my SG feel. For sure, if we do ever get there, we'll be well aware of what we're letting ourselves in for. I don't really think that an IOP is going to overshadow the friendships, fun & laughs that have cultivated within the group though. -
I got ripped apart, ear to ear by a stone brute in Bloody Bay. I just ended up blunting my spines on him. No idea how much Fury he had rolling, but he smashed me apart very quickly indeed.
I had the fortune of running into Lady Fuya yesterday. She jumped me & a defender buddy at the end of our session in Bloody Bay & we were near the hero base. She went straight for the defender first & took him out, & after a swings & roundabouts fight I did beat her. Fairplay, at the point we were attacked we were heading out anyway & in range of the local defense guns so it might easily have been different on any other day out in the middle reaches of the map.
I won't mind meeting her again at all. Seemed a very good player & very fun with a good attitude. We swapped a few nice tells after the fight. -
Hey Monkey! Go & play Halo! Those tigers are only there to get badges & launch rockets!
-
Hmmm, well my SG is probably more PVE orientated. We all like going to PVP zones & having spankings, but it's nice to go back to the base to chill & get nursed back to health by our capable SG nurses
.
I dunno if the whole group will be too keen on the idea of PVP getting rammed down their throats in their own home. But then again, yeah, it's another new mission, it'd be nice to see what the Cathderal trial is like. ZOMG, I just thought... do you get a badge for it as well???
er... how about we go get Item Of Power one day & then sell it before anyone notices?

Well I've had endless severe agruements with Lui but I'm going to stick my neck out & give him a break. No I'm not following any general consensus to this. I'm making my decision based on a change in behaviour he seems to be making. Lui seems much more intrested in the things the game has to offer, content badges etc, & I'm hoping he's finding it more rewarding & fun than the quick impatient rush to get levels. I think he's probably finding more reward in interacting with people more positively.
I've actually chatted to him a couple of times, & teamed with him to take down Lusca. I'm hoping that making this effort will mean he'll be more open to listening to other people & understanding what other people want from the game, or simply, it might lead to realising what personal impact certain behaviour can have on other players. If I'm prepared to meet him halfway, I'm hoping he'll reciprocate and meet me halfway, & with that in mind, I don't mind giving him a break at all & we'll see how it goes.
I really can't be arsed with more shouting matches all the way through a Hami' raid or whatever. There's worse morons & griefers out there. Shame they never seem to learn or actually stop to make the considerations that Lui seems to be making an effort with over the recent times I've seen him. Oh wait... they just leave the game for a few weeks & come back when it's all forgotten.
Edit: Oh, btw, I forgot to mention that when we teamed, Lui was actually good fun, & played well. He had a good idea how to use his character, & how to approach what we were fighting. Oh, and he healed me a lot! Yay, thanks Lui!

Meh to Wolverine. I'm still saving for adamantium plated spines. Cactus-o-rine FTW!

I love MoG to bits. I love that whenever I use it, it's sooo wildy unpredictable. In one instance I'll be cutting a swathe through vast swarms of mobs, in a beserk fury, leaving my fallen comrades behind me, another I'll be the first face down, licking the floor before I've so much pointed a spine in the wrong direction.
Have to say for those instances, I love Revive. Shouting "Ha, you missed!", "It's just a flesh wound!" or, "I slipped!", then toggling back up & starting a pounding on a bewildered mob just brings a smile to my face.
I've 'specc'ed a few powers out here & there tyring to make my character a bit more PVP, but having reluctantly accepted that Spines is a bit PVP pants, balls to it, I may as well put them all back in. -
Aside all this, if a PVE player is in a PVP zone doing the instanced missions, they are often working towards achieving objectives that have a direct effect on the rest on the players in the zone, ie: defense debuffs, damage resistance, & or damage output debuffs.
Now if I'm playing my hero, or villain, in a PVP zone & I see a villain, or hero, trying to complete these missions then I'm afraid I'm going to try & take you out, PVE build or not, & I'm saying that as someone with 90% PVE build.
If you're doing those objective based, debuff/buff based missions then you're having an effect on how my character performs in the zone, & I'm sorry, but if that's going to be a negative effect, then I'm going to fight for it. If that player comes back & tries again, then again, sorry, I'll try to stop you again.
I go to PVP zones because a) I'm a badge [censored] & PVP zones have some badges b) I like the PVE instanced missions in PVP zones and c) I enjoy a bout of PVP a hell of a lot, oh and d) almost, almost, by & large nearly all the time I have a laugh with people I'm fighting with or against. We joke about getting beat, we compare how people are playing or what powers they have.
I have no where near a PVP weighted build, I have good bouts & bad bouts. I spend a lot of time licking dirt, & sometimes I spend a good amount of time dishing out a spanking. I know a high level brute is going to hand me a spanking, I know that raditaion infection will have me slinging spines into mid air, and I know that the damn hurricane is going to knock me around something silly. I also know that if I'm in a PVP zone trying to complete those missions, then PVE build or not, I'm going to get some attention.
Not saying that this applies to any posters here, but what bewilders me are those people that get found in the middle of a PVP zone & then start throwing the "PVE" rattle out of the pram when they get attacked. When people in a PVP zone get attacked & start shouting "LOSER", "MORON", or "GO PLAY HALO" over broadcast they need to take a second to reflect on just how completely dumb they are coming across.
Put it this way, should I be getting my petition pad out in the Hollows & starting chalking up everyone doing Frosty for the nth time?

Evil Thistle vs a controller in Bloody Bay, yesterday, Sunday.
Yesterday, Sunday morning/lunchtime I had my best PVP expericence & battle so far.
I had evil plant/thorns dominator, Evil Thistle sneaking about Bloody Bay looking for scummy heroes to entangle (just landed 15 with him & thought I'd go see how my small handful of powers shape up so far).
From a devious vantage point, at a mid point inland & a distance south of the hero base, I spotted a Controller (Gravity/Radiation Emission?) stopping off by a phone box.
The hero had a cape, so I guessed had access to more powers & probably better slotted than I might be, but even so, villainously, thorns twitching at theready, I leapt down & attacked him from behind. I tangled him in writhing roots & vines, but he broke free & I think for over 20-30 minutes we then traded holds & counter hold, attack & counter attack in an epic battle.
Several times the battle swang in favour of one, only for the other to claw back & briefly gain an upper hand.
At one point two more heroes showed up, & initally I was dismayed to think that this great duel would be ended by outside inteferance & a sound thrashing for me. To pleasant surprise the extra heroes stopped & watched. I guess we were maybe putting on a good show. When inveitably one of the heroes blasted me, I summoned up my Shivan Decimator to run interference and me & my nemesis were back to duelling.
There was an incident with some Shivans, at my expense (& debt), who were obviously ticked off with my earlier abuse of a Decimator, but my opponent rezzed me & we resumed our struggle.
At one point my health was almost down in the red, when I kicked in Domination & clawed my way back to an advantage. In turn the controller escaped defeat & swang the battle back his way.
In the end, interference took it's toll when a fire blaster swept in & burnt me to the point of defeat.
As I lay in the waters, defeated, both Dominator & Controller stopped to congratulate each other on a great & truly entertaining battle. We both agreed that it was a shame the battle ended the way it did. There were several points where the victory was in grasp for either. But hey, that's how it can go.
This was truly an awesome fight. I loved all the various powers the we each used, & the fight was so much more immersive than some of the arbitrary button bashing battles I've been in & seen. Both of us moved around the map, but it was always for tactical respite, & neither even enterained the thought of retreat, or backing down to the other.
It was great that most of the other players kept back & just watched. I hope they had aa good a time as watching as it was to take part. I had a huge smile all the way through.
Even now, Evil Thistle makes plans for revenge, licking his wounds back in his lair, scheming against his new nemesis, and it would great to clash again. In all the excitment, I can't exactly remember the controllers name. I really hope somehow our paths cross once again, & we can pick up & answer those unanswered questions.
I really got the feeling that this is was PVP can really be all about. Great honourable battles, & the chance to make a nemesis & a fun "feud".
Edit: any spelling errors are 'cos lunch is over, & the grind of work beckons again... -
I've had my pvp rep zero'd loads of times. I've given up hoping to keep any. What do you get from it anyway?
-
When I enter Bloody Bay as a villain I find it best to jump straight down the back of the Helipad into the base below & set myself up between the security drones while I check what teams are going, look if I need any insp's etc. One scurvy hero dove right in once, but I watched him get vaporised before he could touch me.
I guess it would be possible for a tp'er to grab a hold of you, but you stand a better chance getting down & in quickly.
The problem is you can't get to the contacts for missions without being in full view of "death beach", which is a bit of a bummer.
Having played for both sides in Bloody Bay I doubt I'll attack the villains via the cargo crates at the beach again. I'm preferring scouting the meteors or firebases, or looking for characters trying to complete missions, & doing my bit for my faction.
At one point, as a villain, I was surprised to see a large group of heros right next to the villains helipad, with little intereference from the Arcanos bots or guns nearby by. I was set up right next to security drones, Crab soldiers & Fortunata etc. I was being shot at & nothing was firing back at the heroes.

Another cracking bit of Mastermind info'

I'm starting my Robots/Traps as soon as I've worked my way through this lot.

Fantastic, & I was just talking about something like this the other night!
Yay, you saved me loads of time & loads of "D'OH!.... @#$!...&#@$!". Thankyou.
Between this & the other info' here, I'll be crushing the world to dust beneath a horde of stomping metal feet!
