I'll just be blunt. (Yeah, shocker.) Phasing needs adjustment.
Running around with a league hunting GMs (on two accounts,) the GMs were fine - the hamidon seeds on top of one of the "phasing area" buildings? ... not so much.
Seems the phase area is JUST far enough out to have kept my character out of range of, oh, using ANY attacks. Get close enough - they're phased. And so is my team. (You have NO Idea how irritating that got.) If I'd had a snipe or something, maybe it'd be better, but... oy.
It'd be nice to be able to "lock" phase with someone (say, the team leader) so everyone's synched for whatever encounter it is. As it is now, it goes from mildly confusing (had people ask "What killed you?" when I just got into a phased area, or out of range, or something) to really, *really* irritating. -
Few other things:
playernotes.txt (will be under your player folder, as I recall)
wdw.txt (window placement)
If you have any binds that are saved in the COH folder, those. (I tend to rename the file and put it in its own binds directory.)
options.txt (export options to file, reload afterward)
PlayerCreatedSouvenierClues, if you care about the AE clues.
\Logs if you want to save chat logs.
Edit:
Graphics settings I *believe* are in the registry keys, as opposed to a file in the COH folder. -
No, actually, it's not. Do check the brute forum. Takes a bit longer for me when I'm trying it out, and I'm a lousy farmer (as in, this is me trying it for kicks) - but I stop and go do other things with the character as well (go update the second build, run the costume missions, run a few papers for variety, buying enhancements for the second build, dumping things on the market, etc.) Still hit the mid 40s at about 14 hours. People that actually concentrate on it and know what they're doing with this sort of thing? 5-ish hours to hit 50.
And we're not talking something heavily imbalanced or giving broken rewards like the monkeys or comm officer exploits were.
Quote:Besides, MARTy might disagree. -
It's working after the driver update, but to answer the above:
1. I couldn't get to tinypic.com itself, or any link. No error code, just an eternal load attempt, regardless of browser.
2. Had any blockers, etc. (which were not on every browser) shut down trying to troubleshoot this. (Iexplore -extoff keeps anything not-IE from loading. Happened there, in Firefox, Chrome and Safari.) -
Honestly, what I think got attention drawn to it is MARTy - not the program itself, but mention of CEBR to test it when we finally heard of it.
(And while I'm not a particularly good farmer, well, I didn't see any throttling... so if that system goes by dev baselines, then CEBR wasn't excessive. High, yes.) -
Quote:Er...If CEBR was banned all of TopDoc's missions would be unpublished and unpublishable as well. The fact that you can still find anything by TopDoc indicates that he unpublished it or renamed it, himself.
When an arc is banned, supposedly all that happens is *that mission* is banned *and the slot is locked.* (IE, of the 3 default slots, you'd now only have two.) Unless they changed it - and I don't recall hearing about this change - other missions would remain the same.
So if I had:
MB's Awesome Arc
MB's Storytime Fun
MB's 1-50 in 3 minute exploit
#3 would be gone and the slot locked, but you should still find #1 and #2. -
Personally I'd have the "top 100" list removed and redo the entire SG search list. Prestige, frankly, means nothing.
-
Quote:Noooooo... it isn't. Nowhere close. And it doesn't invalidate any character builds - and I have *quite a few.* Not sure where you're getting either of these ideas.Because it invalidates all previous character builds that didn't rely on something like Ninja Run? It's a MUST BUY for most people, which I think sets a really bad precedent.
Rocket board is a mildly interesting temp travel power. Doesn't particularly work with any of my characters, though. -
Quote:Doing an ipconfig /all gives, in order, my router, then the two OpenDNS servers. Checking on the system (also Win7 x64) that has no problems with it shows... the exact same thing. (They're set to automatically grab the DNS server addresses.)Resetting the TCP/IP stack and deleting your network card seems a little overkill for trying to flush the DNS cache (which is all you're likely to achieve anyway). One thing to consider if it *is* a DNS issue is if your PC is using your router or modem for its DNS servers, rather than your ISP or a 3rd Party. If so, then it's possible that the cache there has issues and a reset would be helpful.
Manually set the network adapter so it's using just the OpenDNS servers - no change.
Setting it to use my ISP's (Comcast) DNS servers - no change.
Note that it can *find* tinypic.com just fine, on a ping. And that the other system, using the defaults (router/opendns1/opendns2) and the same OS, same updates, has no issue.
Quote:I use Imgur. Never had a prob with it..you don't neede to register, it's free.unfortunately it's *other* people using it that's the problem.
Edit:
Quote:It is definitely overkill, but it worked for me. I think there's something odd with the Widows 7 network drivers and Tinypic.
(Leaving the other info above for reference.) -
Since Geko said this, I've got to say... Dammit, Sam, stop enjoying the game!
Either that or I have to tell Geko he's not glad to hear it. Which is just as odd.
/needs to have that contract looked at again for number of allowed agreements per year, as I'm pretty sure those were used up earlier. -
Sounds like fun. Not sure a third one is really... eh... but it'll still be fun to see the first again.
-
Why?
Didn't happen to me, didn't do it to anyone else... but the thread makes an assumption (see the "culprit" and "usurped" phrasing) that it was done deliberately to target someone. Someone may have actually *wanted* that specific name and not known/cared about the "big name" - since they have no idea (and/or don't care) that person exists. -
Most of mine... aren't hard to get. *shrug*
However, was reasonably happy to get Theorum and Temporal Mechanic. And the (correct spelling) of one of my characters on another server (who has dropped Force Field for some killing power in Fire, and is now a dominator.. dominatrix?) Irresistible Force. -
"We plan on four hours. We hope for fewer. But just in case, expect 10. Zwillinger is getting new padding for his seat and is limbering up his mouse jiggling hand."

Quote:I run at 1680x1050, though I tend to keep the browser full screen (or nearly so.) Takes up much less vertical space. And if I could borrow this thread, the whole upper portion of the forums should be redesigned a bit. At 1680 x 1050 (recommended for my monitor) and the browser window just wide enough to get all of the forum links on one bar ("Official Site," to "Log Out") half of the browser window is taken up with the forum logo, the forum links, the top bar (breadcrumbs to PM window), and the forum description.
Want to take even less space, grab Adblock and block the logo up top. (Really, that thing should be smaller.)

So, yeah, as far as the OP, I wouldn't argue with cutting out that WHOLE middle section, quite honestly. -
They're not down - they're being "lied to" by the server team so they get randomized and people can reach whatever the bottom two would normally be. (Note the pink markings)
When they get the slider fixed, they'll stop doing that. -
Yes, seeing them during bullet rain. It's like the "transparent" figures aren't any more.
-
Seems appropriate that, on Pinnacle at least, the sun set on Galaxy just as we were getting that final maintenance warning, with a nighttime torchlight vigil....
-
Yeah, I've done the /flushdns. Haven't done the reset, though.
(Fairly sure it's the other way around - netsh winsock reset - but I'll try it either way)
Edit:
And... no joy. -
Yeah, not game related directly, but since it seems quite a few people use this... anyone using them for pics, I can't see them. And I suspect people are using it for avatars/signatures, as some threads will just continue "loading" until I get out of them.
Anyone having issues getting this to come up at all? Besides me? Quick google search showed some reports of it just never coming up, but no real solutions.
System:
Win7 x64 home edition
ATI Radeon HD 5770, Catalyst 11.5
Comcast cable
Linksys/Cisco Valet M20 router, Arris cable modem.
Browsers used:
IE 9 x64, 32bit, 32 bit "-extoff," Firefox (current version,) Chrome (current version,) Safari 5.1. Adblock disabled, extension/plugins disabled. No antivirus. No virus on system - I do check regularly (and know how to check, yes.) CCleaner, etc. used.
If someone uses tinypic - it never comes up for me. At all. Works perfectly fine on *another* system with the same OS and browser versions (different hardware.) Works on this system if I use one of my VMWare VMs (any one of several - XP, Vista, Ubuntu, etc.) Dual-boot this system and it comes up.
Tinypic's part of photobucket, apparently, which does come up just fine.
Can ping Tinypic.com by URL and get replies, so it's finding the site. -
Next they will introduce the Supplemental MARTy - Paragon Activity Nomalization Technology System.
Yes. We will have a SMARTy-PANTS on our system from Paragon Studios. -
Quote:Same.In a word, Yes.
Galaxy City was my first zone. First hellion taken down, Galaxy City.
I actually have my first screenshots from my first character (yep, MB.) Swapped him back to his - well, not "usual," but the updated version of the original outfit, and revisited those two spots.
Just for laughs - and sorry for breaking the forum - two "Old" vs "New."
First screenie in COH:
Now:
Hmm... a few things changed (second screenie) :
Yeah, logging him out in galaxy tonight. Even if he gets auto-shunted to Atlas the next time.
(And for laughs - that old system was, IIRC, an Athlon XP 1700, 512 Mb RAM or so, and nVidia 5200 on a 15" monitor. New, core i7-860, 8 Gb RAM, AMD Radeon HD 5770.) -
Yes. (See prior thread, slipped down a few pages, about "What will you miss about Galaxy City?")
Quote:I'm betting we'll see more zones "improved" this way, unfortunately. Y'know, ones we've been asking for a story to be added to for years.I would hope that Galaxy City, which I will definitely miss, is the only zone that's "sacrificed", i.e. changed beyond recognition with no regard to its traditional role. -
Aside from the other arguments you're going to get about this, since at its heart it's the same AT/powerset respec the devs have said no to -
I absolutely disagree with the "Death gives you a buff." And disagree more with them stacking. Why? It takes 5 hours or so to get to 50, *without* exploits. The min/maxers would be *all over* this. A few hours - even "taking longer" each time - and getting PL'd each time for a fairly decent buff? Meanwhile penalizing those who are actually *happy* with their characters and DON'T want to go through this?
No. Absolutely not.
(And by the way, there are no "gimped" powersets. You may not *like* them, but there aren't any that are "gimped.")
Now, setting it up as "Retire the character = the character is no longer accessible (IOs, etc. get sent to a bank or some such,) the name/badges are held for you to use with an *actual* reroll (with the caveat about accolades above,) and you get a 20-25% XP and INF boost from 1-22 (since your "retired" character is "mentoring" the new one,)" or something similar to that... ok. It'd let you keep a few things and give a *reasonable* boost to get them off the ground sooner without being overpowered. -
The only ones that don't stack are the freespecs, historically.
