Yeah, not game related directly, but since it seems quite a few people use this... anyone using them for pics, I can't see them. And I suspect people are using it for avatars/signatures, as some threads will just continue "loading" until I get out of them.

Anyone having issues getting this to come up at all? Besides me? Quick google search showed some reports of it just never coming up, but no real solutions.

System:
Win7 x64 home edition
ATI Radeon HD 5770, Catalyst 11.5
Comcast cable
Linksys/Cisco Valet M20 router, Arris cable modem.
Browsers used:
IE 9 x64, 32bit, 32 bit "-extoff," Firefox (current version,) Chrome (current version,) Safari 5.1. Adblock disabled, extension/plugins disabled. No antivirus. No virus on system - I do check regularly (and know how to check, yes.) CCleaner, etc. used.

If someone uses tinypic - it never comes up for me. At all. Works perfectly fine on *another* system with the same OS and browser versions (different hardware.) Works on this system if I use one of my VMWare VMs (any one of several - XP, Vista, Ubuntu, etc.) Dual-boot this system and it comes up.

Tinypic's part of photobucket, apparently, which does come up just fine.

Can ping Tinypic.com by URL and get replies, so it's finding the site.

Just tested a few images hosted on Tinypic that I have bookmarked, they load fine.

EDIT:
System:
Windows XP 32-bit
Linksys/Cisco E1000 router, sort sort of crummy cable modem from Time Warner (don't even see a manufacturer name on it)
Firefox 3.6.22, Adblock up, NoScript disabled for Tinypic

I had the same problem... but I can't remember exactly how I fixed it. I think I did this:
Run the Command Prompt as an Administrator.
Type ipconfig /flushdns
Restart Windows

If that doesn't work, try this:
Run the Command Prompt as an Administrator.
Type winsock netsh reset
Restart Windows

That last one is a catch-all for most stubborn network issues, but I think it was the first one that fixed it for me.

Yeah, I've done the /flushdns. Haven't done the reset, though.
(Fairly sure it's the other way around - netsh winsock reset - but I'll try it either way )

Edit:
And... no joy.

Yeah, you're right, I messed that one up, was tired. I know it was something on my PC that needed to be done. I know I also updated my network card driver. So try this: Delete the network card driver in the Device Manager and get Windows to reinstall it. Windows should do this automatically when you reboot.

Resetting the TCP/IP stack and deleting your network card seems a little overkill for trying to flush the DNS cache (which is all you're likely to achieve anyway). One thing to consider if it *is* a DNS issue is if your PC is using your router or modem for its DNS servers, rather than your ISP or a 3rd Party. If so, then it's possible that the cache there has issues and a reset would be helpful.

However, it's rare that DNS issues persist beyond a few hours unless someone has really screwed up the TTL somewhere.

Tinypic and photobucket bork out pretty often here, i dont really mind why.

Same goes for all those other 'worldwide free full of advertisment and popup crap' websites.

On my laptop i just added all those websites to my host file and direct them to my local webserver, instantly giving me a 404. Fast and easy, i dont mind a few missing pictures.

It is definitely overkill, but it worked for me. I think there's something odd with the Widows 7 network drivers and Tinypic.

Doing an ipconfig /all gives, in order, my router, then the two OpenDNS servers. Checking on the system (also Win7 x64) that has no problems with it shows... the exact same thing. (They're set to automatically grab the DNS server addresses.)

Manually set the network adapter so it's using just the OpenDNS servers - no change.
Setting it to use my ISP's (Comcast) DNS servers - no change.

Note that it can *find* tinypic.com just fine, on a ping. And that the other system, using the defaults (router/opendns1/opendns2) and the same OS, same updates, has no issue.

Which would be great if I were the one trying to use it unfortunately it's *other* people using it that's the problem.

It's got to be specific drivers, then. Even though I'd updated, had windows check again - and apparently it found some. So, it's working on all systems now.

(Leaving the other info above for reference.)

Never been a fan of OpenDNS myself - if your ISP's DNS servers suck that badly then try Google's (8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4) - but if other machines behind the router are working OK then it doesn't sound like a DNS issue anyway. Can you load the tinypic.com site itself? I used to have issues with some of the many imageshack CDN servers back when people still used it, but the main site was always OK. If not then what error code are you getting? 404? 500? 64? etc.

Tinypic (and photobucket actually) use different servers for their pictures that people upload. It's possible that while most pictures load fine, some won't if they're on an affected server. Kinda like how if Virtue is down, you may still be able to access Victory, Freedom, etc.

I use Tinypic for my sig pic and have noticed times when they have been down, but my page will still load completely - just sans the picture with a "connecting to tinypic.com..." at the bottom. (FireFox btw)

On a side note, I have noticed that some websites with links to Google+'s "Plus One" and actually some of Google's ad servers won't load past a certain point if it's having trouble connecting to them.

//Edit

I just had another thought: Do you have a Firewall / Ad Blocking Add-on / Somethingorother possibly blocking Tinypic? I use Add Block Plus for FireFox and have on occasion blocked sites that I didn't mean to... like Youtube >_>

It's working after the driver update, but to answer the above:

1. I couldn't get to tinypic.com itself, or any link. No error code, just an eternal load attempt, regardless of browser.

2. Had any blockers, etc. (which were not on every browser) shut down trying to troubleshoot this. (Iexplore -extoff keeps anything not-IE from loading. Happened there, in Firefox, Chrome and Safari.)
