Ghostbusters will be returning to a theater near you this October.

Just time time for the Halloween season

"It was announced on the "Ghostbusters" official Facebook page that the original 1984 film will be rereleased on the big screen. It's reported that this could be a way to see what the interest would be for a possible third installment to the franchise."

I've heard they have changed a few scenes and now Zuul shoots first.

So... not satisfied with rehashing old movies Hollywood are now just relreleasing the old movies.

I've read before that a third movie is already scheduled for Christmas 2012.

My local theater shows old movies rather often. They might only show it once, but it's cheap and they offer deals for those who go.

I see this as part of celebrating Ghostbusters, showing it to a new generation of potential fans, plus us "old timers" that first saw it on the big screen can go see it again on the big screen. Also as a way to get people talking about Ghostbusters for when they start showing previews of Ghostbusters 3

Probably but strictly speaking all the ghosts did shoot first.

Peter sees slimer and is communicating with Ray when Slimer attacks and then we get the classic line: "He slimed me!"

Well, I doubt it'll make it into theaters here, but given that I was too young to see it in theaters the first time around, I'll definitely go if the opportunity presents itself.

I approve of this plan and will be keeping an eye out for any theaters in my area that will be showing it.

Well, we already had one garbagy remix/cover of the original in Ghostbusters 2, so it isn't as if there's no precedent.
