Probably nothing. Mess with the character creator, as getting an idea and making it come to life would be the only "reward" then. I tend to play my non-50s a lot more than my 50s, even post-incarnates. I like getting new powers, I like getting "stronger" and leaving NPC groups behind. It'd probably even stop interest in RP for me.

Quote:WoW? Pfft. They've been using it for the entire series. Warcraft (the original)'s full name was "Warcract: Orcs and Humans." (Still have that CD around somewhere, too.) If there were a problem with it, it'd have been stomped on *way* back then, well before they became a major player. As already pointed out, a name from mythology is not copywrited. The only reason WoW can have orcs is because it was a very obscure alternative name for an ogre before Tolkien revived it.
Then again, the name is fairly generic - it'd be like complaining a game about armored warfare has something called "tanks." -
Hmmmm.... One issue? OK, but this one would probably take a bit of time to get out the door.
1. Crey's update. The zone is now shared, if not exactly co-op. Heroes, of course, can get there via Brickstown. Villains? Well, if they didn't want villains wandering around, they shouldn't have had the Rikti war zone there and then just ignored it, now, should they... Different contact trees, though Vanguard's stepping in to make sure the area doesn't turn into a war zone. (Possibly extending Praetoria, as well, as their Hamidon managed to "follow" a Primal back and learned about this zone - and our Hamidon, as well. Hami civil war a few issues later?)
2. IOs Revisited. Some of the less-used sets get moved from the drop table to a vendor (so if you want Calibrated Accuracy, you've got it.) Bonuses are updated (Debt Reduction now has something else with it at that same level.) New sets are introduced - a second useful snipe set, for instance - and some "free floating" custom IOs are introduced - if you want a Heal/Taunt IO, you can make it, and setless procs are introduced as well.
3. New free-for-all costume set. Bio/mutation themed... best way I can think of describing it is "different degrees of Swamp Thing." Tied in thematically with the ecological and industrial disaster that is Crey's Folly, of course - you've been affected by the area, or were spawned from it. Growths, "stuff" hanging from you, a few new (non-oddly-mapped) faces, "Unhealthy glow" aura and the like.
I think those three should keep the devs fairly busy for an issue. -
Er...
Characters logged out in Galaxy should still be in Echo of Galaxy City at this point. They *did,* at one point, force you into Atlas, but don't now.
The teleport beacons for Galaxy now point to Echo: Galaxy City.
The train should give you an option to go to Ouroboros. -
Quote:So what? But - it's more than that - it's 10 rogue missions,(+morality) then 10 hero missions (+morality) and then 10 more hero tips (+morality) to reenforce the alignment (or else no hero merits from SSA).
Quote:The story line of these "epic archetypes" is fine, for those that choose to immerse themselves in it. I choose not to.
If you don't want to avail yourself of the options given, well, that's solely your own personal hangup. -
Guess you won't be playing that AT then.
And you don't have to spend 800 points. -
Quote:I'd disagree.Whoever decided (Emmert?) that a superhero MMO needed a "healer" class was a moron.
1. Empathy is not just "healer"-ing, despite how some want to play it. It's made powerful by its buffs.
2. Empathy (and pain domination) give *guaranteed* heals. No to-hit check, no need for an enemy, no need for you to be in melee range (as you have both a PBAOE and ranged ST heal choices) - but they pay for it by having them not be as powerful (minus Absorb Pain, which gives you a debuff to "pay" for the heal.) There are times that's more important.
3. It also pays for the guaranteed buffs by having no *de*buff capability (slightly different from pain domination.)
A focus isn't bad. Playing it as just part of that focus (the "h34l0rz" who rock the aura and take the medicine pool while ignoring attacks and buffs) is bad. -
He's not going to get it. Don't bother.
Related suggestions:
- Disable set bonus button
- Disable -kb on immobs button
- Disable stealth button
- Disable incarnate powers in non incarnate content button
- Force team to decline speed buff portion of speed boost
All those should be fine too, going by EG's logic. Nobody should be upset or annoyed by those in the least.... -

So... what in that part that you quoted suggested I hadn't read the thread?

Yeah. Really makes me think you or THB read it as opposed to assume what its contents were. -

Follow to guides. Get one to 50.
-M_B : 307 alts and counting. (27 or so at 50, several in the 40s atm.) -
Quote:The thread is linked. Go read it before assuming what it, and my post on it, is about. Seriously, I put a bloody link to it in the freaking post. Is it THAT hard to click and read before telling me what you *assume* I said or it's about? Not going to touch much on Handclap, but if you see that as a validation of your liking that power... okay. The best you've got there are some people saying it's a fun "get away from me power!" But that kind of power is worse than situational on a Tank. My usual issue is getting mobs to get close to me on a tank (darn stay at range buggers), not getting them away from me. There is a reason Handclap is derided by the majority of Tanker players: you shouldn't want or need a "get away from me" power on a Tank. I'd love it on some of my blasters, but not my tanks.
Don't be THB, GP. -
Quote:Was going to reply to just how ridiculous you are for saying this as a reply to me when I said nothing of the sort, but you know what, forget it. Not going to deal with the BS from you or in general from this part of the forum.People are welcome to disagree with me, but when you have an outrageous opinion that this single proc is going to somehow "fundamentally change" an entire archetype, you sort of deserve to be insulted.
Assuming that all the PB Knockback is awesome, knocking things around still wouldn't be the fundamental purpose of the AT. It's just a silly, head-in-*** viewpoint.
I don't like the IO. I don't like where it may lead - going from comments *already* being made elsewhere. You don't like that, tough.
What I find amusing, as a final word here, is for all the "oh, no, it can never do any good, it's horrible, how can a melee AT handle a PBAOE knockback power, it's against everything good for the AT," in yet another thread about the *same* thing (Hand clap and its clones,) gee... look, tanks, brutes, etc. describing EXACTLY how they use it. And in EXACTLY the same ways I say I do....
Wow, amazing. Strange how that all seems to go out the window with "OMG PBs have it so bad with this!"
Whatever, guys. I'm done with it. Have fun waving your IOs at each other. -
Quote:Let me know when you decide to move past grade school insults at people and points of view that disagree with you.Why do you think that -KB in PBAOE powers.... Just think about that for a second. Melee powers. that do AOE Knockback. How can anyone NOT see the fault in that? Anyways.. Even if you miraculously find a reason to not think that it's retarded, how is removing that "fundamentally" changing the AT as a whole...? How is removing KB from AOE powers going to make the Peacebringer into something completely different...? Unless by "fundamental change" you're trying to say "Crappy design to logical design." I guess logical is much different than crappy, yeah.
-
"Instead?" No, thanks.
While I don't normally argue from the point of IOs, this is one time I will use that as an argument. In fact, I'll use it as several:
1. There's no "Form Set" other than the ATIO set
... and I don't *believe* that can be slotted in the form power itself. Yes, that could be changed. However...
2. You're gutting bonuses.
The bonuses for powers slotted in form attacks carry over to each other. Those who HAVE built for more defense, or more recharge, or more damage or what have you would be at an *extreme* loss there.
3. You're losing options
Again, with sets. Looking at a triform PB, JUST in the form attacks, you've got Ranged attacks (x2,) Ranged AOE (x2,) PBAOE (x1,) Healing (x1,) Teleport (x1,) Taunt (x1,) and Melee (x2.) This is ignoring any slotting taking advantage of Defense debuff sets solely because those are available to most PB powers. You're taking more options away from the Warshade.
4. Losing options part II
In addition, even IGNORING IOs, I want some of my powers slotted differently - for instance, I tend to add Range to Bright Nova Scatter as it's a shorter range than the other three blasts. I don't want that going to *all* attacks, I want that going to just one.
5. Weakening the form itself
This is more for Dwarf, really, as Nova tends not to get slotted - but my Dwarf will typically have 3 Resists in and often the Winter's Gift Slow resist global. Now, if I want to slot like I normally will for my attacks, that leaves... what, a recharge and a damage? A recharge and an acc? If I slot for the attacks, I weaken the base form itself. -
Quote:General rule of thumb:It's funny how if somebody starts a new thread, the poster is derided for not finding an earlier thread, but if somebody finds an older thread, they are derided for "necroing".
If it's a month or so old, go ahead and reply.
If it's over a month or two old, give a link in a new thread and at least show you read it and the arguments in it. If you have something new ("I saw this, but thought I'd bring it up, there's a different way this could be tackled maybe") add it. If you don't... it's mostly "why rehash old arguments."
If it's running six months or more... yeah, don't just reply. Link if you want, but that's just too old.
(And if your argument is "I don't care what anyone else says," then post it in a blog and lock it.) -
Need to point out about "solo" powers and powersets while solo -
You can use dual builds, which can make quite a difference. Some, not a great deal - Dark Miasma, for example, you wouldn't even want to skip the rez while solo as it's a very nice debuff, so you'd likely have the same build solo and teamed, while Empathy or FF you may skip quite a bit on the solo build and have a more offensive-minded build.
See dual builds guide in signature. -
Quote:We'll see if that's how it actually works out or not. While it may not, in and of itself, do so, if I start running into teams that insist on it, or kicking/denying spots to people that don't have it - well, then they may as well have just taken it away, period, because that will be the effective end result. And Bill, you had better be grateful they gave us an option to take away KB that didn't require you to give it up as well.

Wikia's horrible for just that sort of thing. Which is one of the reasons Paragonwiki's not there. Unfortunately, it (Wikia) is still at the top of Google searches for PW.
Make 100% sure you're not going to wikia. -
Absolutely, positively despise that this proc exists, period. And the very first time - hell, any time - I hear "you do kb and don't have that IO," I'm going to screenshot it and send it to every freaking dev I can. And even if it's not directed at me, it'll be an instant 1-star and, if it's the leader, leave the team... don't care if it's at the beginning of a newspaper mission or the end of a Quarterhell.
-
1. "Everyone" isn't softcapped, regardless of what it might sound like on the forums,
2. Incarnate powers are only an issue in the end game. There's more to the game than iTrials.
3. Don't worry about what everyone else does. If you want to play a tank, even "just" to get one of everything to 50, do it. Find a set that sounds fun and run it. -
Quote:Absolutely, positively NOT. Any more than having the team leaders have a toggle that, say, turns all Fire damage powers into Psi, or all Masterminds into Controllers. Someone wants that amount of control over my characters, they can not only pay my sub, but pay me for my time playing those characters.I suggest that team leaders have an option added to their row of mission buttons. The option would be Knockdown. If selected, all chance-for-knockback powers in the team/mission become chance-for-knockdown instead.
And I have no idea what your real issue with getting invited on a PB is. Mine don't have issues getting teams.
Last but not least, bit of a necro... -
Quote:... and that was dropped long, long ago. The most recently it sounded anything close to official was when we were originally going to have three markets (red/blue/praetorian,) "gun runners" going between them, and your "information" from Praetoria going into some vaguely-defined limbo so you'd show up in Paragon or the Isles flat broke and unable to do anything...I have never understood why AE arcs awarded influence/infamy/information. For all that it's a de facto currency, inf was pitched as a sort of 'reputation' statistic
Yeah. That died a long overdue death. It's money. -
Unless I'm (a) on a team running through missions/a TF, or (b) running through an area filled with greys, I'll often stop and fight stuff anyway. (Or I'll take a young, Nova-using Kheld into Perez and blast stuff.) I wouldn't argue with more stuff like the Praetoria events.
(And as far as the SC fires... I don't consider them a "don't bother" item. The only thing I'd change is making the extinguishers auto-hit. I mean, c'mon, it's a burning apartment building. Unless you're facing away from it, how the heck do you miss?) -
Quote:No. That article is at best misleading.http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Character_Name_Policy
The names are locked after level five even following ninety days of account inactivity. If your character is under level six, your name is not reserved after ninety days of inactivity.
What that actually outlines was *the form of the character name unlocking script the last time it was run.* If it were a policy, I have characters that would have lost their names - they were made on trial accounts (with names that it's *highly* doubtful anyone would want) - long ago.
That script can be modified and re-run at any time. But again, they've shown reluctance to do so, even when pressed on it. Even well before Freedom's announcement.
