Quote:It rains and snows in LOTRO, has no discernable effect on gameplay, and is fantastic for atmosphere. That's all I want. The vigilante perched on the roof in the rain at night is an iconic comic image. It doesn't have to be fancy or leave reflective puddles or have particles or require a triple-SLI to take advantage of.I've got to admit, I'm leaning towards "War witch may just be wrong here."Quote:For you and your system.
Other people have talked of having issues with weather systems in all games, before.
The big thing, for her being against weather (as I'm recalling from an interview) was that it was cool at first - then irritating, as it made actually finishing missions impossible, made everything look dreary, cut down vision, etc. It went from cool to irritating fast.
I can understand some of that - and wondering why, for instance, a fire blaster (or controller, etc.) wouldn't be affected by it *raining* on them. Or extinguishing oil slick or the like.
On the other hand... I've got two games, one new, one old, that deal with weather differently. New? Aion. Weather - at least rain, and admittedly in the starting area - isn't *rain,* it's not a torrential downpour or anything, but a light shower (this on the Elyos side, not sure about Asmo.) Purely graphical, it happens, it's gone. Characters will look up, hold out their hands (assuming they're not doing anything else,) generally "react" to rain and it's gone.
(I have to point out, I have *not* got a high end system. No SLI, no quad-core I7 Extreeeeme on tons of RAM, etc. Athlon x2 5600, 3 Gb (well, 4, but 32 bit ATM,) XP, Geforce 9200.)
The other game? Myth. Not the same, no, but given this ran on 33 mhz systems (and slower!) and had weather directly affecting visibility, fire, etc - and each drop *was* a separate entity - it worked, and didn't affect performance. Yes, it was a totally different engine, I realize, with that coded in from the beginning. I am *not* going to say "They did it then, it should be easy."
But the light shower that just comes and goes, fast enough it wouldn't leave puddles, light enough to not have people wondering why fires don't go out, light enough to not hamper visibility - I can't see being as big an issue. (Adding "effects" like differing traction, torrential rain, snow, etc, absolutely would be a different kettle of fish, yes.) -
Lowest changes continually.
Right this sec, it's Pinnacle and Triumph - of course, as should be noted, that's *load* not population. -
Quote:... which you switched by *getting up and using the blasted dial.* (And potentially tweaking to fine-tune.) "Remote control?" That was you, when your dad/brother/etc told you to get up and change the channel for them. The first computer I had access to was a Vic-20 which you connected directly to your television set. I was around 10 at the time.

<-- remembers cable TV being new. ("More than six channels including PBS? Who woud've thought?")
<-- Remembers MTV actually playing music.
<-- remembers getting the Atari 2600 when it was new. (TWO joysticks, paddles and Combat, plus that fake woodgrain. yeah!)
<-- PONG console. -

As temp powers, I can see this working. My biggest issue, reading through this, was pointed out by Umbral - the time to re-tag every map as "Flier allowed" (or not allowed.) It would make sense to let them in some (Hydra men map, for instance) but not others (or most.)
I think perhaps you have too many varieties - I had come up with a similar idea specifically for PVP at one point, balancing 3 "classes" against each other, but for PVE... eh.
It might work better (purely IMHO) if, instead of a repeatedly craftable temp, it were set up (for an entire team) in a specific mission - something you need this tech for - and you get to keep it as a temp power (your hour or two) afterward. Generally, though, sounds ok to me. -
It is, but expanding the arena with more types of missions and such would be good, too.

Quote:/seconded.Does a working base mission computer (or whatever that thing was called) count as something new?
Three things... hmmm.
- Expandable teleporters (to 3-4 zones.)
- Power/control to fill in between "combo item" and "generator" - "combo unit mk II" and "Mini generator," for instance.
- Ability to scale items (thinner/thicker pillars, let me shrink the Robotic Fabricator and put it on a desk, etc.) -
Hmmmm.... I have too many.
I could go with my Fire/SS tank (and namesake.) Or my 50 Warshade, for the double-mired joy of it. Or my Thug/Poison Mastermind. Or my Fire/Fire blaster, for the mob-melting goodness. Or... *shrug* Who knows. -
Hellions and Skulls do, in a sense, evolve - you follow their story through the Family, Trolls, Tsoo and Outcast, honestly. The groups themselves make sense to drop out of sight - they're really the low level cannon fodder.
Coralax were slated to become an EAT. No telling if that'll ever happen, but I hope it does.
Luddites - I agree. Same with BP. Blueside, they're part of the whole *reason* for why Dark Astoria is as it is. -
I know, early-ish on in the game (and some later) I used to get taken on tours of all *sorts* of interesting places - like the "tron" blue room under the arena (I think it was,) a hole out on the far side of... must have been Peregrine, past the blue walls, trying to get past the old Faultline wall to the generator/dams...
Then there were the Arachnos maps on release. ugh. Mobs falling down, me fallign through, what a pain. /petition and wait, since I think I was out of Recall Friend range (no "assemble the team" available,) or log out and back in. -
I'll definitely second "Post in the tech issues forum," but one thing does come to mind - do you have a firewall running? It sounds (from a quickl ook) like the program's being blocked.

make up your minds people -
So do you, if you look down from above - which is what the AI does. It's there to make things simpler for the AI which is otherwise... not very "I".

Not bored.
Though I am also playing around in Aion for a bit, so my time's divided. -
Quote:/this. Especially with *norton,* the royal PITA that it is.I doubt it's a Vista issue, since it's having problems connecting. I'd check your firewall's settings to make sure it's allowed to connect to the internet.
(I dont' like Norton. I do, however, find your wallpaper amusing.) -
Guess what. MMORPG.
Imagine that.
I don't know what your issue is (ok, I can guess,) but I play on those "ghost town" servers and have a hard time avoiding teams while I'm on during slow times at work. And no, it's not name recognition from here. "Memphis Bill" makes up about four or five of 170-some characters over two accounts.
I have to *hide* to not team (since paying attention to things coming up during work takes priority, and that's not fair to a team.)
Maybe it's you. -
Perez in Nova feels almost *wrong.* Self-PLing with all the nice AOE goodness. Boomtown's not bad, either, given all the Council.

From the wiki - http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Faultline
Arachnos Dig Site
Underneath the western portion of the zone lie a series of tunnels created by Arachnos. Several missions from Agent G send you into the tunnels, and they contain mission doors which can be used for Radio Missions. Many players have difficulty finding the tunnels, as the entrances are not obvious, and some of the mission doors are even beyond the normal map boundary, leading players to believe their mission is bugged and placed outside the zone.
There are two entrances to the Arachnos Tunnels, one north of the dam, and one south of it.
- The northern entrance is next to a dead tree at the top of Lift H.
- The southern entrance is under an Arachnos complex just south of the dam. Turn right (West) as you exit the power plant on the South side of the dam. You'll see a small bridge that leads to an Arachnos Flier landing pad. Drop down under the bridge and turn right (facing the dam). You'll see the tunnel leading downward directly ahead of you.

I object, those aren't new questions at all!

Welcome to the squiddy side. -

(admittedly I had them before we had the extra slots, Note trial accounts can't be used.) -

First, I'll admit flat out that:
1. This is probably of somewhat limited interest, and
2. It's blatantly brought up because of another game (Aion.)
Let me direct you to this page first. It's Aion's server "statistics" page - balance of the sides, the classes, the level spread and whatnot. (Yes, there are also character viewing pages, but I'm not getting into that can of worms.
Given the discussion that started with Arcanaville's AT info, there may actually be some interest in seeing these percentages. It is, honestly, mostly academic, one of those things that can be looked at "just for the heck of it," but I thought it was interesting when I ran across it - and yes, it stoked my curiosity in what COH's results would be.
I think it'd be mildly interesting.

Quote:This. I really, really hope. Just because of being able to say "we did something" without having to add "leaving characters sit night after night in a farm" or something similar.I think the future of badges for bragging rights mostly lies in things more like the Master Of... series, if this issue is any indication.
(F'rinstance, I happen to like Efficiency Expert. It's somethign that, yes, you *can* fail. I've wanted to see ranked ones for the "Prevent 30 fir bolg from escaping" that only count on your mission, the first time you run it. That sort of thing.) -
Welcome.
One tip - see that link in my sig ("clicki the wiki?") Click it. Bookmark it. Lots of good info. -
Quote:"Ouroboros."
