Me - friends, other folks, the characters I keep making, and - well, I've played other MMOs. They just don't hold my interest like this one. Aion was probably the closest until I really started to hit the grind, and some of the stuff PVP got in the way of... not as in "I don't want to PVP," as I liked doing so, but having whole regions of the Abyss the wrong faction thus making it impossible to complete missions, well.... not fun.
But honestly, I've met some good folks (and made actual friends) through here, one of which offered me a roof over my head during a bad time (though that fell through - touchy spouse) and another who provided it, others who helped talk me through that time and kept me going... I've found some good folks. -

Rumors are worth less than you pay for them.

Silly question here - did you actually claim the respec token? If they're just sitting in vet rewards, they're not actually available to use yet, you need to claim it just like you would the nemesis/blackwand/sands/pets.
(Edit: Also, the only ones you can use /respec on are freespecs - won't work with the vet respecs.) -
Quote:... except for a few things:Consider a Dark Armour Stalker and a Dark Armour Brute. When the Stalker attacks, his stealth drops, his model becomes visible and everyone for miles immediately spots him and aggroes on him. When the Brute attacks, his stealth remains firm, and the only enemies who attack him are those he directly aggroed, which are usually just those he directly attacked.
1. That stealth gives a guaranteed crit to most attacks, and a massive damage boost to Assassin's Strike,
2. That AS, if it lands, has a chance (and in experience a pretty good one) to land an AOE fear on the rest of the mobs,
3. Hide costs 0 end to run, and
4. Hide does not break if the AS misses.
5. Plus it returns faster, with Hidden status, much faster now, AND
6. Stalkers have at least one Placate (/Nin getting other options as well.)
Numbers 2-5 are part of a *huge* buff Stalkers got a little while back. I don't see them getting unsuppressed Stealth. That would, IMHO, just be broken. Yes, even just in PVE. (And that doesn't go into the good AOE defense while in Hide.) -
BS/SR if you want to kill your END bar faster than anything else.
... don't ask me how I know.
Currently running a KM/SR Brute, though, which is a bit of fun. Only in the low 20s ATM though. -
There are as many ways to write a guide as there are reasons, types and subjects.
If you haven't written one before, my first bits of advice would be:
- Consider your subject.
For instance, you said you wanted to write guides for scrappers. A "Guide to Scrappers" would be... well, simply a huge undertaking. You probably don't want to tackle that on your first outing. Trim it down to (say) a "Broadsword scrapper's guide" and see how that goes.
- Consider the subject, part 2
What do you have to say about it? There IS such a thing as a guide that's too short or otherwise.... well, not to be unkind, but useless. Or one that's long but says nothing. What do you have to say about it? What CAN you say to make the guide better?
- Give yourself an outline.
This helps with the second part, especially with initial guides. If I were writing a BS scrapper's guide, for instance, I'd probably break it down much like my fiery aura overview. Something like:- Intro - who am I, why am I writing this
- Powers - The set itself
- IOs that may be useful
- How it works with secondaries (/SR does this, /Regen does this) and what pools may be helpful
- Special info (You can customize, you can get custom sword graphics by doing XYZ, etc.)
- Exit/thanks/acknowledgements
Just for a rough idea before getting started.
- Stay on target
Are you saying enough? Are you starting to ramble? Is what you're talking about totally off base? (I can be bad at going off on tangents. I know it. I talk.)
- PROOFREAD and SPELL CHECK!
Seriously. if i red ur gide an ur spelin lyk this an have no punshuashn bcuz its online not englesh klas so losen up lozr lulz.... I'm stopping after the first sentence or two and considering you rather dense. I don't mean the occasional spelling error here, either - everyone does that. But this is you presenting yourself - do you want to be taken seriously or not? If not, why are you spending time on this? (This does also include using the proper form of words - there is not the same as their or they're, to, two and too mean completely different things, and if you say you're going Rouge I'll point you toward a Mary Kay salesperson.)
- Tone
Try not to be preachy. You can be informative without it. It can be somewhat dry reading, though - so put a little personality in it. Hell, I like to be downright conversational in mine. For another fun to read guide, go find "The MFing Warshade."
- Beta readers!
I *usually* put mine up in the appropriate section before putting them here. The Kheldian lore guide, for instance, was in the Kheld forum for a while getting chewed over before I put it in the Guides section. I'll often ask one or two people to look it over before doing THAT. And don't be afraid to make changes AFTER it's posted - I'll point at my FA guide for this. You'll see in the comments people saying "Oh, that's this way for scrappers," which - since I was writing it primarily from a tank viewpoint - needed changing for the Brute and Scrapper variants. Take criticism for what it is - an attempt to help out, not an attack on you or your guide (unless someone IS being that way.) And be nice and give some credit, too.
- Have fun
Really. If you're not getting paid to do it, you should be doing it for fun (or to make money later, but that doesn't happen with guides.) If it feels like work, step away from it for a while. When I did the MA tutorials for the release of the Architect issue, I didn't want to write another guide ever again. You can see them in ParagonWiki, as well as searching here - that was a long set of guides, and things have changed since then. I haven't gone back to change them because it is, again, a LOT of work. -
Buying it... tomorrow.

Quote:That's going to be a bad attitude to come into things with.Every thing on Villains just seems like a weaker version of heroes. lol not as strong as a blaster. Not as tuff as a tank. Know what i mean. I was thinking maybe a brute.
"The Corruptor doesnt' do as much damage as a Blaster?" Well, it doesn't have a damaging secondary, it's got a buff/debuff secondary... which is thoroughly different. (Plus Scourge on a DOT is just fun. Try Fire/Dark, rain on a tar patch... ) Playing a Dominator like a Controller will get you into trouble - it's something a lot of doms go through when they first switch over. And so forth.
Roll a few of each and try them out. -

You can't go to just any tailor, there's one called the... gah, I forgot, something like super tailor or some such - or I believe Trina in the Pocket D tiki room. Steel canyon, should be the one all the way in the back on the right when you enter.
-
Take screenshots? At least for the short term.
I'd agree with all of the above *in the current session,* but not historical... for one simple reason. If I've added (say) storage racks, or added, deleted and readded, what happens to the stored items? They're not likely the same, even if there's room for them - and what if there isn't room for them?
And yeah, the base editor needs updating. (An offline one would be nice, too.) -
Quote:*adds to list of wrong.*
The Archtypes that have access to Choking Cloud are not Supposed to be Fighting in Melee Range.
Let me counter with a few things:
Hot feet
Cinders
Glacier
Irradiate
Most nukes
Dominators (no, they don't get Radiation Emission, but they do share all Control sets but Illusion, and most certainly fight in melee with most sets - and have no more, or if you want to look at the lack of de/buffs, LESS protection than Controllers.)
Flash
Salt Crystals
Kinetics (Fulcrum Shift, Transferrence, Transfusion - not paired with RE, obviously, but shares some ATs with it.)
Dispersion Bubble/Sonic Dispersion
EM Pulse
Hurricane
Thunder Clap
... I can go on.
YOU may not PREFER to fight in melee range with those ATs. That's fine. I'll even agree that some set pairings don't reward you much for being in melee (my Mind/Fire Dom is mostly ranged, for instance.) But your assertion that those ATs are not supposed to be in melee range (when they're given PBAOE attacks/holds/de/buffs) in their other power sets, including those which can be paired with this, is just flat out wrong.
Quit with your "I'm always right" nonsense, because *you aren't.* You're rarely right when it comes to game details. Linux stuff, maybe. Video cards, you admit your own bias, but are usually ok there. Game mechanics? (Edit: Specifically THIS game) Badly, badly wrong in most instances. Demonstrably so.
Means nothing.Quote:I'm going to ask 3 simple questions, and if any of them can actually answer yes to those questions, then, and only then will they be on my level.

Quote:For the OP:Very unlikely. They don't delete inactive accounts. Worst case scenario is that some low level characters might have had someone else take their names so you'll have to rename them (for free, under those circumstances).
Pre-COV launch (or at, something like that,) there were names freed up. Inactive over 90 days and under level 35. Since you left *after* COV, that won't affect you.
The script's only been run one other time, and that only affected those under level 6 that were inactive for 90 days... and that was quite some time (two years plus?) ago.
Why would he be stuck with them? A trial can't get past level 14 anyway - which doesn't take long to hit. Delete from trial, recreate on reactivated account, play for an hour.Quote:Ah, then you're stuck going with the new account. You can't move characters between accounts.

All (non server) versions of Windows - xp, vista, 7 - can run COH. Doesn't much care about 32 or 64 bit. (Don't know about XP x64, but I almost never run into it.)
No real difference between Home, Pro, Ultimate as far as COH is concerned. -

Interesting.
(And not like the space station hadn't been mentioned in the *old* Praetorian arc... *cough* >.> ) -
Silly question...
Why is the PC not hooked up to the router?
Why not just get a USB wireless dongle for the PC? They can be had rather cheaply.
If you want to go the way you're going, hey, great, just seems like more hassle to me than is needed. -
Quote:The IV mostly had me bugged there. We know it's been a while, as the flowers were dessicated. We don't know when the IV was last changed (and I don't recall if the bag still had anything in it, but then again, the monitor... whatever that thing's called they run them through now, had no power. I don't know what the effect of that would be.How did a guy go unnoticed by the military and/or walking dead in a hospital bed for...some indiscriminate long length of time? A week? Two? More? With only one IV bag and no food or water? The hospital had clearly been overrun at some point as evidenced by the barricaded door.
The monitor/IV/etc may have shut off recently enough to keep him somewhat hydrated. *shrug* He did need water badly when he got up, of course.
Military? They're not seeing him walking. They see him inert in bed, so... not a threat. (And later they're probably too busy shooting to care.) The zombies? With whatever state he was in, he probably just didn't look like "food." Being (essentially) comatose, he wouldn't have made any noise or done anything to attract their attention. (And wasn't the door closed anyway?) -
Quote:First thing I'm going to say is, go read World War Z. Buy it, get it from the library, something. Really. For the bio-zombie, it's good....I got the impression that these zombies are the result of some biological boo boo and are not supernaturally empowered. If so, then...
Corpses don't blow away, typically.Quote:Why don't the zombies just dry up and blow away?
It's "something in the brain" (think that was even in the show last night.)Quote:Why does it take a head shot to 'kill' one?
Assuming "no" on both of those. Yeah, it brings up other issues, but you'll notice a lack of bleeding from the zombies (no blood pressure, no heart beating,) and if they needed to breathe, Bicycle Girl just wouldn't have been there.Quote:Do their hearts beat?
Do they breathe?
Because that's the way the fiction works. *shrug*Quote:If not, how can their brains continue to function?
Same reason they don't just chow down on the corpses inside and outside the hospital. Dead flesh isn't registering as "meat" to them.Quote:Why don't they eat each other?
No idea, especially as...Quote:Why are they so hungry anyway?
... typically, no, as I recall.Quote:Are their digestive systems still functioning?
No.Quote:If a paraplegic/quadriplegic became a zombie, would he or she be able to move the previously paralyzed parts?
I don't think the zombie would register as "food" to a flea or tick. It's dead meat. Now, if one bit a human who wasn't dead yet (just feverish?) Maybe, if whatever-it-is survives in the tick's "meal."Quote:If fleas or ticks or whatever fed off a zombie (or tried to) and then moved to a more nummy normal human, would the normal human be infected?
Theoretically? Sure. Typically... I think the only time I've seen anything similar has been in I Am Legend. They could still be *carriers,* mind you, depending on which bits of lore you go after.Quote:Could a chimpanzee become a zombie? What about other mammals? -

Quote:/this.First, no to mez protection in any sort of movement power, "Go" power or not. That's unbalanced. There's a reason why most native mez protection is only available to melee characters.
Second, how does my ability to run faster help me escape a mental illusion? Being encased in ice? Put to sleep? Held above the surface by gravity? Blinded by light? Punched in the face so hard I'm horribly disoriented? Having my soul being torn from my body? I mean, if you're going to try to bring realism into this...
Of course, if we're bringing realism to this, my encasing someone in ice - and I don't just mean ice holds, I mean the shields as well - should cause them to go unconscious and die, eventually, from lack of oxygen.
