Well How does that help?

im both and old player and a new player, i played the original CoH and CoV but quit soon after CoV. i recently saw going rogue advertised somewhere and i figured i would give it a go. got a free trial account and love it. but there are a few things missing that really complicate it. for instance a trail account cant send party requests, how does that help? if you have to friends playing together they cant play in a party together because they cant invite the other person... i thought a trial account was to be an experience of the games good points. not a bit of a pain in the behind due to locked features.

Sorry you're not happy with the shell left over after the RMTers broke the trial accounts. You see, if they can invite to teams then they can spam team invites and get their message out that way. as is with the heavily limited trial settings they can only talk in team and local.

In short: it doesn't.

However, that doesn't mean that there was no reason to put it in. The trial restrictions are a bit harsh. However, they were put in there due to spammers. Basically, before that was put in, one of the ways that spammers would advertise was to form a sewer team in Atlas, get a full team going, then start spamming the team. As such, the Devs put in the restriction that trial accounts could no longer form teams, but could be invited to them.

Sadly the trial accounts were being abused by spammers so many unfortunate limitations were placed on them.

A trail account can however be invited to a team by a none trial account,

IMHO the trail account system could use another going over, its just not very "New Player impressing" as it should be. but YMMV

There is but one truth. Time is limited. ndnw its over

Real Money Transfers/Transactions.

Basically: paying real money for in-game stuff, like influence.

The sooner you upgrade, the sooner those restrictions will be lifted. Don't worry, you wont lose the remaining free time from the trial.

and Welcome!

I'm a 'City of' Vet, and still didn't know what RMT was. So...many...acronyms...

Welcome (back) to the game Praetorian01. You did point out an interesting problem, though. They should probably let trial accounts accept invites from other trial accounts. There wouldn't be much harm in that.

By the way, RMT is not "City of" specific, but the first time I heard it used was in these forums; see also http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_economy

I had heard about RMT from friends that played EQ before I started playing City of Heroes, so was familiar with the concept. I remember asking one of them whether trading stuff like inf between my own characters was unprincipled... those were the days.

If you are not able/want to wait to upgrade, and you want to team with other friends on a trial account, you can always ask for help in /hc - the ONLY time I won't help out someone asking to have a team made for them and their friends that I notice is if I'm on a locked team - such as a task force or Ouro-mission, because quitting those teams you can't rejoin.

A good number of people will do the same.

If you're going to upgrade, and don't mind losing your trial characters, why not just reactivate your old account? All your old characters will probably still be there, and you'll make good use of your old Vet time.

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

ah but my account was prob deleted was a good 3-4 yrs ago.
i know about RMT from games like world of warcraft which a few of mi freinds play because of buying money but i didnt think u could trade CoH currency(cant remeber name) i guessed enhancements but i wouldnt have thought much of a market for that as they r easy to find anyway.

and i like my new characters.

Very unlikely. They don't delete inactive accounts. Worst case scenario is that some low level characters might have had someone else take their names so you'll have to rename them (for free, under those circumstances).

You can trade almost everything now. And some enhancements cost BILLIONS of influence.

Ah, then you're stuck going with the new account. You can't move characters between accounts.

Not that you need these in normal gameplay, of course. But they exist and can be an alternate goal for when you've got nothing better to do with your characters.

City of Heroes has crafting now, which immediately attracted the attention of the gold farmers and other people.

You might want to read over the stuff on the Invention System which is probably the single largest change since you left the game: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Inventions_System

For the OP:
Pre-COV launch (or at, something like that,) there were names freed up. Inactive over 90 days and under level 35. Since you left *after* COV, that won't affect you.

The script's only been run one other time, and that only affected those under level 6 that were inactive for 90 days... and that was quite some time (two years plus?) ago.

Why would he be stuck with them? A trial can't get past level 14 anyway - which doesn't take long to hit. Delete from trial, recreate on reactivated account, play for an hour.

This was my number 1 complaint about the trial. Two of us got the trial together and we ended up waiting outside each other's mission doors street sweeping until they were finished. It wasn't good or fun.

Luckily I was able to call my son the next day and have him reactivate his account. With the 3 of us, one on a real account, we were finally able to experience the team environment.

Of course, knowing what I know now I should have asked any of the people under the Atlas statue, around Ms Liberty, or inside the City Hall for help. But I barely knew how to communicate back then and was frankly intimidated by all the strangers running around me (I had never been in an MMO before). I had no way of knowing then that 90% of the players in this game are just good folks who'll bend over backwards to help a new person. I'm sure if you ask you'll find someone that will gladly invite you both into a team then drop so you guys can go explore together.

It's pretty unlikely that your account was deleted. As far as we know, they never have deleted accounts. The most they've ever done is take names to free some up, which (if you were affected) means only that your characters would have to be renamed. They've only done that a couple of times.

If you don't recall your log-in credentials, that could be an issue.

Ah, you ASSUME. The running of the script was announced on that occasion, AND we were given formal notice that they might run the script at any time in the future, as they saw fit, with no warning or announcement.

If your email changed, then you missed the invitation to the Reactivation Weekend last month coinciding with the Devs appearing at a NY Comic Con panel.
