Mapserving literally every 5minutes. Sent MANY petitions NO answers. I have to start at the beginning of missions every time I map serv...however if I mapserv with half energy...when I restart? I still have half energy, what is that? I've called my ISP and ran many diagnostic test...shut down anything else sucking bandwith and no change, any advice would be great.
cable internet btw
I am on Freedom Server,
In Praetoria
time, its happening all the time....it got so bad that I was mapserving before the game even completed loading. I sent petitions and also a support ticket, I am waiting for a response. I called my ISP provider and had them run every test I could think of...they say nothing is wrong. whats frustrating is when I ask, in broadcast mode, if anyone is experiencing the same...most to everyone says no...so I am at a lost. this is the second day its been happening. I am running on a desktop, directly connected to the cable modem. All lights are go...shut down any other program that may bother the bandwith...but this problem just started. I been playing off and on for years and this has never happened. so very confused, any ideas or advice would be great, can't play more than 5to10min of game...I at a lost here...

I know what you are talking about! And, it is getting worse! Mainly the problem exsists on the Freedom server. It will be fine if the server is in the yellow but gets worse as it goes into the red! I will get the map server repeatedly and then eventually have to restart the game. Then when I try to go back to the server i cannot get a connection. If I try another server that isn't in the red then I am fine. Must be too much congestion!

if its a server side thing, this could be helpful

What do these programs do?
and thank you EVERYONE for your response!

CoHHelper will list the OS, the important hardware like video and sound along with their drivers and the game's graphics settings. It's useful for us to see if your drivers are out of date or if you have your game settings set to something unreasonable relative to your hardware.

Hijackthis will list all programs currently running on your system as well as all programs slated to run at startup. It's helpful because some programs conflict with this game, like UI skinning software. It also helps spotting malware and viruses, people running more than one active AV software or has way too many "helper" programs lurking in the background.

Basically it avoids a lot of "20 questions".

every time a new issue hits I tend to make the requisite now hosted by SOE jokes.

As to the original poster's problem, I've been working a wide range of servers over the past couple of weeks, and I haven't noticed any particular map-dropping errors. Actually I did figure out what was causing my own "game seems to pause for 5 seconds" issue from a good while back. (it was KDE changing background wallpapers for those interested)

I've got the old net_info tool that used to be on NCSoft's support site mirrored through google docs. It can tell you if you have any problems connecting to various NCSoft games. Useful for determining if the connection problem is the server or your connection.

Also, if you are running a Cable or DSL modem, type the address 192.168.100.1 into your address bar.

This should bring up the modem control panel. If you are running through a router, you might have to set yourself as a DMZ host to view.

On a cable modem you should have both a Receive Power Level and a Transmit Power Level.
  • The receive power level should be between 0 and 1.
  • The Transmit level should be between 45 and 56.
If the numbers aren't in that range, and you are on a cable modem, you might want to call your ISP and have your lines checked.

192.168.1.254 for most ATT/Bellsouth/SBC Global. Others may use this as well.
