  1. I was reasonably happy with APB's.

This... I'd have to have a three month sub prepaid just to finish the first character with all the playing around I could do.

... you're right. From the sound of it, it'd probably be as lively as Tabula Rasa right now if you were in charge.

Which you should see on higher team/difficulty settings...

If I have a group fighting somewhere and have an option of using, say, RPGs, I'm not going to toss those out where there's not some sort of appropriate target to use them against. Alternately, the people using them aren't going to whip them out if they're not going to do any good against what they're facing - for all you know, the people who are packing a Q-gun ARE still in the spawn, but since it doesn't do anything special to your blaster/tank/brute, they're not wasting it.

As far as wide ranging, we're not talking "across Earth" here - on Earth it's very much in the shadows, as the Kheld arcs would show you. We're talking a war reaching across galaxies.

    Only people with style.

    Bad Kheldians!

    Meanwhile...bring on Issue 19!!!
The problem also exists on Dominators, by the way.

THought you said a "Better" idea. That's a "whiny" idea. I happen to like them. The world is reacting to *my* presence as a Kheld, I'm enough of a threat (and the war's wide reaching enough) to throw Q-guns and mercenaries out there to try to stop me, specifically. As opposed to "Oh, look, generic minion X, it's hero Y. No, no, hero Z is due ten minutes after this guy leaves. OK, places everyone!"

The problem is less about "making you think" (at least for me) and more just a question of "Why have void hunters when quantum array guns are plentiful?"
Why have standing armed forces when AK-47s are plentiful?

Ouroboros. 1-15. Last mission in the list. "Rescue the mystic from the Circle of Thorns."
  9. All right, two new bits.

One from a quick Daggerpoint sketch. This is actually the same character I had Graver do a piece of (and apparently he never wanted to do celtic knotwork again afterward) - my first 50, way back when, an elec/elec blaster:

And this is actually the same character after becoming a Peacebringer. New guy over on DA, RV1994. Liked his pencils and just waited for him to offer commissions. Little slow, but he's just starting on the commissioning - sounds like he's a bit overwhelmed :

  10. No, there isn't, short of never logging off. You could, alternately, just keep getting killed until it's gone, as debt subtracts from Patrol XP first.

You need silly animations to go with the sounds of Nascar Melee.

    "VMmmmm.... rrrRRRRRrmmm.... VoooooOOOOommm..."

I swear, playing my KM/SR brute makes me want to keep turning left.
  12. Aside from one person I've talked into playing the game for a while, I've
    - gone to an area meet and greet,
    - lived with an SG mate for a while,
    - worked with at least 2 other COH players,
    - and am going to two COH-playing-friends RL wedding. Which will actually be the first time I've seen them in person.

Not necessarily. I know I burned through a bunch on my first VEAT - I don't think I have any left on that character. Khelds can do that, as well. It's very possible to use all the vetspecs up.

    That said,

I'm tackling this a few ways:
    1. Do I have any that don't need stamina? There's a bunch I no longer have to worry about - quite a few MMs, for me, in this case.
    2. Do I have any 50s I don't want to change? This is a big one - if the character's fine and I don't *want* any extra powers, I'm not respeccing them.
    3. Do I have any I can change now? Mostly lowbies, here, that I'm doing a fast respec to drop Swift, Hurdle,and/or Health from *now.* Might as well get them ready - if they don't have stamina now, it's just fitting slots later.

It makes it feel like much less of a "project."

Then again, I have something like 20 50s (and another 3-5 close,) and a few of them are *really* going to jump on this - my Khelds and my highest Stalker most certainly. Just have to prioritize.

Of course, this sucks, as I have become rather fond of the character. I have found that I have to plan prior to entering combat what I need to do and when. I had a group with a Crey Tank (conned red), a Crey Protector (conned purple) and a couple of Crey buff docs. If I want to do as much damage as possible, I cant use the purples until PS drops. It was a hell of a fight, but I ended up hitting Lvl 32 after I finished the tank and only had the Protector left at 1/4 life.

With the Tier 3s from the Lvl up, I ran into the next room and jumped right in, fired off Power Siphon. The Tier 3s lasted their normal duration.
Eh... not really. Pop the purples, THEN pop PS, and you should be fine. If you hit PS-Purple, the purple will last 15 sec. (And it seems there's a window of shortening, too... possibly that same 15 seconds.)

It doesn't surprise me that the T3s lasted, as they were in effect prior to that PS.
  15. When do you take them, just to see if - well, someone else, don't think I have an SS/Fire brute handy - can try to recreate it? (Not seeing anything like it on a fire/ss tank, so this might be brute specific.)

Im not popping inspirations, standing around for 45 seconds, using PS and running in. I'm stealth'd, I get right on top of my first target, insps, PS, sometimes hasten, then attack.
    Edit:
Ok. Yeah. Power siphon's shortening the duration of any inspiration used after it when used in combat.
    Tested:
    - Corruptor. (Control character.) Popped insp, stood around. No change. 60 sec duration.
    - KM/SR Brute in various situations -
    - Popped insp, stood around, no change.
    - Popped insp, popped power siphon (no enemies,) no change.
    - Popped insp, popped power siphon, popped insp (no enemies) - no change. (Note this is using power siphon like build up as opposed to Kin-like in combat.)
    - Found enemies. Popped power siphon, popped insp - noticably shorter (15 seconds while in combat.)
    - Found enemies. Popped luck, sturdy, power siphon, luck. The last luck was noticably shorter, the first two stayed for full duration.

... of course, I try to FRAPS it twice and it doesn't happen :P Third time's the charm, and it's not just lucks. Will try to get this uploaded.

    Edit:

Here we go. Probably best to (a) go full screen and (b) start watching the insps as I take them in the second fight, at about 0:42. One disappears at around 1:00. Luck, Insight, find target, power siphon (perhaps 7 sec,) luck, start fighting - 1:00, one luck disappears, one luck and the insight stay there for the rest of the fight.

Oh, I'm not *against* it, I'm just wondering if it's tied into the designation of "pet" vs "Henchman," and what putting that ability in might do. If they could limit it? Great.
  19. "Found out" how - redname or idle chat?
  20. In general, yes... just a few things that might have problems:

    - Warshade Extracted Essences. Since you never know how many you'll have, how they're gained, etc.
    - Peacebringer Photon Seekers are technically "pets," as are seeker drones, the FF generator in Traps, Plant control's Spirit Tree, oil slick, Blizzard, etc. I'd have to wonder if it'd goof those up somehow.

  22. It started in the New Universe...

No, really, it did. Yes, I actually liked some of that series ("Quack!") - including D.P.7. But, I drifted from that before the New Universe died off, before the Pitt, etc.

Fast forward many years. Living on the west coast, meeting with friends with the friday night RP sessions. Bit of DND, bit of Shadowrun, some All Flesh Must Be Eaten, and Silver Age Sentinels. Made up a character inspired by Scuzz, in some ways - specifically just *oozing* acid and being able to use some rather nasty "spitballs," but taken to a few extremes (plus if you're at all familiar with the tri-stat ton-of-dice system, well... maybe you'd get how I could blow up a bunker with an acidic spitball... and as I recall, about 20 dice.) Very non-serious game and lots of fun, but one of our members ran off to join the army and the game was put on hiatus. We'd "pick it up again eventually."

... never did. (Of course, this is the group that did a continuation of a game 20 years after it started, too.)

So, looking for some superhero-type action, I picked up Freedom Force. OK, but not quite what I wanted. Wandering through Wal-Mart, I happened to notice City of Heroes (DVD/collectors edition.) Twenty bucks - supposedly retailing at thirty at the time, but it was walmart. Looked it over, said "Pay a fee after I buy it? Yeah, right!" Looked again, said "Twenty bucks, free month, what the hell."

.... haven't let the sub lapse since, and that was... *glancing over* a week or so before the forum reg date. Added a second sub, and I'm somewhere over 200 characters in. >.<
  23. I'd second the "If I could only have one, it'd be my Warshade."

Though, knowing me, it'd probably *actually* be my first 50, my elec/elec blaster. Since I do try to run through everything on there.
  24. Why do you think a blaster wouldn't be appropriate? They would, after all, have a sidearm at least.

If we could redo the minion uniforms, perhaps a merc. MM.

It's interesting news to me if people moved because they actively wanted to be on a server with lower population but not due to perceived performance issues. Is that what you're saying people have done, according to anecdotal evidence?
    No anecdotes. I've done it.
