Quote:IF they're saying "just log anyone in on any of the events," roll up a throwaway character on one of the days you're not working, if you're looking for the badge. Roll one up early and level them a bit if you want to actually participate, I suppose.I'll just link my own thread here:

Long story short: I only get work maybe 1-2 days a month, and this event for my home server, the only server I have characters on, Virtue, falls on the exact day and hour I am working. My luck is apparently just THAT BAD.

Quote:Who says I'm *not* doing that, or being careful (for whatever reason) to lift them into the air so they can "enjoy" the fall? Or that I'm applying it at a point instead of all over?First, that force is being applied over a period of time, not all at once. Second, it's being applied evenly over a body, not at a small, focused area. Third, that amount of acceleration (about 13.4 m/s²) is not enough to cause the 2 seconds of air time the powers are apparently supposed to cause.
Heck, one of the sets with that power is *mind control.* Who says I'm even *really* lifting them up, versus showing what they think is happening? -
... you can earn a badge of your choosing *now.* Just meet whatever the requirements are for it.

This would be "NCSoft" or "Marketing," not the devs, to be really nitpicky. I may grouse at them for other things, but this would be like blaming the janitor for your eggs being undercooked.
About the only people related here *might* be Beastyle or Avatea, and that's just because they're Community vs Development. -
What level range? Quite a few folks are going to be on 50s doing incarnate trials. Makes the pickings a bit sparse for anything else at times. (Try soloing a zombie invasion on a mid-teens controller.)
-
One thing I'm surprised about not seeing mentioned -
Most of BAF is an absolute dream for Warshades, for the simple reason of just being able to nip over to Nightstar's corpse for a fresh Fluffy. No effort involved - and it makes the escapee phase just that much easier. (Lag? Who cares? My 2-3 fluffies are on the same timer as the server. If I can't fire, they can!)
Plus, running on Victory the other night, the team leader decided to put a Warshade on each team - and have the 'shades (with some controllers) as the adds team.
Sick, sick fun.
Lambda wise - yeah, I don't seem to run out of things to mire from.
PB-side, there's a fair amount of form switching (come to think of it, I haven't run my humanform-only PB in these. Concentrating on my Earth/FF and Elec/Elec.) AOEs (mostly nova) near doors, if I'm running along paths, Photon Seekers ahead of running groups and I do a fair job with the remnants. Lam, it's mostly Nova/AOEing, form dependant on whoever else is near in the acids/grenades phase, and mostly nova or dwarf when hitting Marauder.
And don't forget, you *can* use your judgement (literally) in forms. Dwarf Nuke time! -
Nobody but the devs know what future use any of it will have. Supposedly we'll want Astral merits for "something." But there are five slots left. Either we'll use them for that, or they'll introduce seven *new* types of currency.
Hold on to it and see. -
Quote:You assume. They don't look "slammed" to me - Accelerated, yes. Slammed, no. Which would end up with less - or no - damage. It's simple physics. Some force is slamming into them with enough strength to send them flying upwards.Quote:
But I certainly won't moderate my posting habits to ensure that every thread I make passes the Elite Forum Poster's Guidelines for What's Important Enough for Me to Spend My Incredibly Valuable Time Thinking About.
Nobody's saying you shouldn't post it. *shrug* But it is what you're getting to be known for. -
While this particular application is rather pointless (outside of entertainment and, of course, profit for the company making them,) I *am* with those hoping it'll push tech along for other medical uses.
Honestly, first thing that came to mind *medically,* if it would work with this sort of band, is picking up that a seizure is imminent. (Comes with having to take care of someone and dealing with that for a while, trying to catch her "stare" that said it was starting.) -
Hmm.
Cover dated
... Sgt. Fury #100.
Thor number two hundred... and one.
On Sale
Doc Savage #1.
Just an issue or two off in both lists of "x-hundred" a few times. -

Quote:First, his suggestion for "betterment" in this case (remove the delay) would look even sillier than he suggests it currently does. (Why would the *lift* do damage but not the impact with the ground?)So, why is striving to make everything better as much as possible a bad thing? I ask that honestly, because I know I'd be trying ti hunt down as many niggles as possible in something I made. Mind you, I am obscenely perfectionist when it comes to art and such
Second, there are so many *bigger* issues to deal with - yes, even in terms of animation and powers - that this just seems ridiculous to even bring up. Especially when it's not universal - again, I went and checked various levels against even and (once I got to the 50) lower levels, and it only looked "strange" when fighting something well below my level. Not a situation you'll generally be in outside of *boredom.* -
Part of me agrees with saist, as far as expecting a Vanden post to be "That shade of green isnt' QUITE what it should be, it should be just a touch less blue-ish, that needs fixing!"
On the other hand, if that's the most there is to complain about, COH is doing pretty good.... pity that's not the case. (See AE, Bases, PVP, or if you want to stick with powers, Gravity Control's slowness, the delay in putting down Rad debuffs... stuff that actually *affects play.*)
You want silly looking? How about a melee attack that does damage after the character has run fifty feet down a hall? (the various Assassin's Strikes.) If we're talking "Time makes that look silly," that would be FAR higher on the priority list. Or maybe the magical homing boulders that will follow a superspeeding/teleporting character down halls and around corners.
Plus, frankly, I think Vanden's full of it as far as this. I pulled three characters in different level ranges to see what happened:
Level 6 Grav/Rad vs lvl 6 Hellions:
Enemy lifted, hit ground, damage appeared just a fraction of a second later. Overall impression - enemy damaged on hitting ground.
Level 36 Mind/Thermal vs lvl 36 Council:
Enemy lifted, hit ground, damage appeared just a fraction of a second later. Overall impression - enemy damaged on hitting ground.
Level 50 Grav/Kin vs Lvl 47 Rikti:
Enemy lifted, hit ground, damage appeared a barely noticable fraction of a second later. Overall impression - enemy damaged on hitting ground.
The only time I saw, to quote Vanden,
Quote:was when I took the level 50 and attacked some level 2 hellions. They were off sight of the screen when they took damage, near the top of their flight path. Now, if you want to complain about THAT - go fight something your own level instead. Either that or take the knockback enhancements out of your power if it bothers you so much. The damage tick tends to happen at some random point in the target's flight now.
"Removing the delay all together" for the damage would, frankly, look even sillier. -
/this.
Prestige is worthless as a measure of a "number one SG," unless you want to see who... has the most prestige. Which tells you absolutely nothing about the SG or the people in it. I could - if I cared to screw with the market enough - start a new account, make a single person SG, do exactly what the Crazy 88s do and get a commanding "lead" over the "#2" SG - then cancel that account and still be #1 for some amount of time.
What's it mean? Nothing. It doesn't tell you how active the SG is. It doesn't tell you if they're involved with events, raids, PVP, RP, focused like the various RO SGs are, themed like the Legion of Catgirls or what.
YOU have to go and find the people, ask around, and find what the "best" SG for what YOU want is. They may be the #1 prestige-ranked SG.... or #87359. But for you, they'd still be "the best." -
Quote:Their leader. He's not just stealing "stuff," or even "high tech" stuff. Some of the chatter says flat out - he wants secrets.Anyway, most of the CoV zones have some group based out of the zone that pretty much vanishes once you leave it. I never see people wanting more Cage Consortium or Scrapyarders after Sharkhead, Mooks after Port Oakes, or Contaminated after Mercy, what makes Goldbrickers so special that they should have more content?
Aeon, as well, is working with them - but quite obviously doesn't meet Midas's description. We know Shelly Percy has worked with (on) Midas, after all. But doesn't even hint it's Aeon.
And what about Golden Roller?
There's quite a bit going on that never really gets explored, much less tied together.
Cage, by comparison, is rather straightforward - a soulless mining company whose boss wants to get the blood coral (profit) and doesn't particularly care about the workers. The scrapyarders - eh. They're tied to the Legacy Chain somewhat - but the LC aren't all that interesting of a group, quite honestly. They're magical Longbow.
The luddites don't get any real exposure at all.
The snakes, at least, have an Incarnate leader and come back in the 45-50 range. -
Quote:Nope. Giving you the choice to do more with them is a continuing goal.I should have used the past here, because you would have been right if we were before I19, but with all the "Incarnate" stuff coming toward us, I don't think CoH is a rerolling game anymore. Making us play our existing toons is kind of the new goal of the devs.
Rerolling is still perfectly valid. The lower level content is not going away - and by the addition of Kai and Stutter, still getting increased. -
Quote:*snort*I think that, within 6 months at the most, we're going to start seeing some servers closed down. It only makes sense, why do we need 15 servers? We don't have the population to support that many.
I've been hearing that since... oh, issue 3 at least.
Hasn't been right yet. -
Please don't remove a question when it's been answered. Others might wonder the same thing, and just seeing "Removed" or "Deleted" doesn't help anyone.

NOpe. The queue "wait time" is skewed badly by full leagues going in immediately. (Essentially - you have one person waiting for an hour in LFG, and, say, two 24 person BAF leagues and a 15 person Lambda going in instantly - the one person waiting isn't going to make a dent in raising that "wait time.")
Best thing to do is go to your "Team" tab, hit "Find team," and look for the biggest concentration of 50s - that's where the leagues are forming. -
Quote:... um...5. Make Placate not draw aggro. At all. Right now if you placate an enemy while hidden and without engaging a spawn, you may not be attacked immediately, but as soon as that enemy recovers from the placate, he WILL attack you, hidden or not. Make Placate not draw aggro the same way Confuse powers don't.
It already works this way. Are you sure you don't have something else going on?
Yes, I did just test this to make sure I wasn't remembering wrong. Level 22 stalker. (Dark/Nin.) Hidden, not engaging. Placated enemy (22 Capo Muscle,) stood there - placate lasts 14 seconds. Stood there for a minute. Placated again. Zero aggro.
Tried it on multiple other enemies as well, scrapyarders, Marcone boss, etc. Same thing. No reaction when Placate wore off.
Now, they will *react* - if they have an "I'm attacked!" line or something, they'll say it - but they won't attack you.
Edit: Also, some confuse powers *will* draw aggro. (Seeds of Confusion, specifically.) But they have another component to them anyway. -
Quote:There's no official way to do it. It should, frankly, be able to be done, but from what I understand it's more of a PITA to get to work than sound replacement - and then you have to have people who know where to find it and how to use it.Since you should be able to customize your own graphics, can you alter your own version so it doesn't have the same effect?
I ask because if it works, that could be the easiest solution from the devs - to allow an override that says "ignore other's cusomization and use my settings." That way it's not just adapting to people who have a problem with one specific graphic, but instead allows everyone to correct the issue for themselves even if they react badly to different stimuli.
Having an official override would be good - however, people would still be exposed to it the first time and until they know what it is that's actually affecting them.
The optimal solution, though, is to not have the graphic that causes the issue in the first place. -

Quote:Other MMOs also have levels of gear - and the raid for gear to raid for gear to raid for gear cycle. Other MMOs also have the "holy trinity" needed as part of a team.It is focused on the market leading MMO, but the points the article makes are relevant here. People complain about needing a guild/group/whatever to raid in other MMOs, the way the LFG system works in this game eliminates that need.
We don't.
What that other MMO system may need to eliminate "I'm sorry, you're a Nightwatchman, we need a Cleric!" we don't need here. -
Quote:Fortunately the cake can be changed.I'm afraid test rat is kind of right.
If you have diabetes dont eat the cake.
But i really guess just i dont understand it. Most of the time i don't even notice if barrier is or isn't on. Must suck getting sick from it. Maybe its the sound effects too that do it? Because i run with mine off.
And no, it isn't sound. It is visual. At least in the cases I've had reported to me. As far as "don't eat the cake," well - I've played, for instance, with Hex Girl for years, in this and other games. It's not "the cake," it's specific powers. We've run multi-hour task forces, we've run through things like Left4Dead and Borderlands - "Gaming" isn't the problem. Just very specific powers with certain visual components.
Regardless, I will fight to get this changed.
