Super Strength, especially paired with Invulnerability. It's the only combo I've duplicated so far (on a tank and a brute).
-
My first attempt at a Elec/Elec brute was an AI who was "raised" and/or socialized very poorly, to the point where it was essentially (in human terms) a sociopath. Fine concept, but I quickly realized that as a practical matter, the whole "does not play well with others" thing made him someone I didn't want to inflict on teams. With the other option being soloing to 50, I decided to toss the character and eventually recycled the powersets with another character (who was also a selfish jerk, but more inclined to work with/exploit others toward his goals).

Quote:I'm torn between the part of me that has full sympathy and understanding of how this sort of thing can be, and the part that wants to answer bluntly, "So, next time, pay attention."So, while it's a minor detail with no in-game importance at all, I'd still like the option to change it. Having the "wrong" origin attached to them is like having a little splinter that you can't dig out. Not major by any means, not deadly... but still annoying when you notice it's there.

definitely Magic, IMO.
I tend to look at the various condemnations of other practitioners, the commandment about having no other gods before Him*, etc etc in the same vein as exhortations to buy only official JehovahTM products - all about establishing market share and brand loyalty and trying to dismiss or drive out competitors. Remember that early Christianity existed in a very crowded and competitive market.
* which, some argue, implicitly acknowledges their existence. -
It costs what it costs. Either it's worth it to you at that cost, or it's not. Do you try to haggle with the theatre manager over the cost of your ticket and popcorn, or with your cable company over your bill?
Quote:A couple of months ago, I could have said this about Beam Rifle users... or a few years back, Archers or Dual Blades/Willpower scrappers.Already had more than enough of the dog. . . Waiting in RWZ for a trial, there were six of the damn things, and they all looked exactly the same. . . .
Right now, it's the new hotness and everyone has to have one. It will pass. The novelty will wear off, and soon you won't see more than one or two in such a crowd. -
I've rerolled to change my origin, when I got a character to SOs and realized that the one I'd pick didn't really match my concept. (I've also rerolled to change body type, before that was a tailor option, and to change powersets.) So I do understand where (I think) the OP is coming from.
That said, my answer to all of the above cases is "reroll." Yes, even if the character is in their 20s like mine were. -
Quote:You get one, it's called mediport. There's nothing to indicate that the EBs don't get debt (as much as anyone does anymore, in this era of patrol xp and half-debt in missions) from their defeats. You'd prefer permadeath? Go make a MAN character.Stupid emergancy TP ... I want one if the EBs get one. Debt save.

Garielle, I suspect the OP is not reacting to this specific case (which is, as you note, merely the midpoint of an ongoing story), except in a "final straw" context and/or the latest example of a perceived overall shift in tone in recent content, again since approximately Going Rogue. Put another way, is "well, we won in the end, kind of, but people died and/or we had to do some morally grey things" the way it's going to be from now on, in all new content?
While we're on the subject, I'm going to note something that really rubbed me the wrong way: it was a nearly textbook "fridging." Female character brought in to be killed off and create drama for male supers (Statesman, Manticore, etc) to react to. -
Quote:I think what the OP was saying was that lately, since GR, it seems like it's been the villains winning, or at least the heroes forced to (at best) an unsatisfying draw or Pyrrhic victory. Mmm, GRIMDARK - that's how you know it's "mature" storytelling! That's the thing. You're asking for the heroes to win throughout.
Quote:Now, when that happens, it's a boring story.
"You can't win, you can't break even, and you can't get out of the game." -
And here I thought the ambush nerd was whatever dev was responsible for the new trend in official content, from Going Rogue forward: "All Ambushes, All The Time." Click a glowie? Get an ambush! Zone into a mission? Get an ambush! Talk to the contact? Ambush! Timer runs out? BURIED IN AMBUSHES!

I'd just like to observe, as an aside, that the whole "relieve the strain on the instance server by making the new low-level content all open-world kill-stealing instant-respawning immersion-destroying hunts" "solution" that the Devs were so proud of is rendered entirely irrelevant when most lowbies, apparently, go straight for the instanced sewers. Bravo. *golf clap*

Then the players cease to be players (and the customers, customers), yet the game is still here.
If your response to farms getting nerfed is to leave the game, then I fully support your decision. I'll even help you pack. -

Already suggested in previous threads on the subject.

As a couple of my characters noted, Kane's zombies are made by a different process than Vahzilok's - they aren't patchwork cyborgs. Nor are they Banished Pantheon Husks, as there's a distinct lack of glowing runes on their skin. Apparently, the bad doctor is an independent.

While some aspects of the DFB trial could probably use another look, the OP is correct that it does at least teach new players some important lessons about the game (which is more than the usual "just stand by the door or lay on the floor while the FotM farm character kills everything" does).
-
What I believe the OP meant by that phrase was "the number of charges or applications of the purchased power would be reduced by one."

Quote:Sounds to me a lot like Master of Orion III, which was an excellent simulation of being an interstellar emperor - sitting on your throne all day, listening to your advisors and reading reports and spreadsheets, and setting general policies which may or may not actually end up being put into effect (how could you tell?). Meanwhile, it's the people way, way under you, like starship captains, who get to do all the interesting stuff.City of City Planning: Planning a city works pretty well as a sandbox-type game or even perhaps a real-time strategy game ("Cleveland just awarded Federal transit subsidy!").
But as an MMO, you play a city planner sitting in meetings all day discussing estimated future traffic load, or renegotiating recycling pickup contracts. -
On a related note, I'm still amused by announcements that supernatural activity has ceased in zones like Croatoa, Dark Astoria or First Ward. (O RLY?)

"Half-finished and forgotten" well describes the state of AE in general.
