Quote:Except Buff/Debuff aswell and except survive aswell...
Defenders and Tankers are obsolete ATs. There's no real point to them now. Everything they can do, a Corruptor and Brute can do just as well while pumping out more damage.
Defenders values for the former is higher... no amount of equal enhancing on Cold Domination will make it as potent on Corruptors than Defenders
Sure the corruptor will chug out more damage than the defender, but thats not really the point here.
Likewise, tanker/brute, no amount of equal enhancing will bring a brutes survivability to match the tankers, yes in this regard you probably can use IOs to close the gap, but tankers will always have that headstart in surviveability. -
I'll echo most of the sentiments here, it just doesn't transcribe well to Doms, but in general it has alot of problems that everyone else has already pointed out.
When I suffer myself to play this set, I do it for Propel and Singularity... (and yes the occasional 'Raining Men' moments with wormhole as someone mentioned, but on grey cons)
the fact that bosses are immune to the teleport with no way to change the magnitude is a whole issue with that... CoH loves AoE as has been said, so why forcably split the group? -
Also, possibly something incorporated into the Player Notes where you can highlight free players to always recieve tells from.
I have some friends who are interested in trying this out, but their attention span probably won't last long if they can't even talk to someone they know. -
I know it read like I was saying teaming with friends is bad, I didn't mean it like that, I do have more fun teaming with friends and people I know, but equally i'm quite happy, if not alot quieter when I team up with anybody, I still have fun, and will happily play with anyone, regardless of the number of vet badges etc.
Globals I see more of a way of making this more inclusive a game to play in, before I joined the ones on Union I knew nobody, wasn't really having a good time playing the game, and then suddenly I was running TFs and enjoying the game.
As far as What Beef said about his SG doing alot for the Hami raids on Pinnacle, great! I think you should toot you're own horn about that, but isn't it more a player or group of players going out of their way to set stuff up they don't have too... which is totally what the community is about, wouldn't that type of person use any means, be it Broadcast, Globals or SGs to arrange that.
Does it also look like I came across as supporting elitist picking? because I don't, and maybe I should clarify that too, maybe i'm just too much of a pessimist and have seen too many "Speed runs must be experienced" advertising more than normal runs these days, and like I said, it was a pretty extreme scenario.
Hey i'm probably really a person that would take advantage of this, since it takes me like a million years to actually get to 50... seriously, did someone sneak in and change XP just for me? I'm an altaholic that wants all his characters to experience all of their powers - I've always wanted a stormy up to try their powers, but never managed it before getting bored with the set, maybe respecing into it would be good... now i think im rambling... see this is why i lurk... -
Quote:But that is the prime concern. Now see, this post doesn't seem so much like you're concerned what the person paying for the respec and instead are concerned on what it'd be like playing with the person after a respec.
But, Red Name statement is "Unlikely." It's a step up from No, but hey. Not by much.
level 50s running around with no clue how to play their characters well will be excluded by the playerbase when ti comes to end-game content, especially the harder stuff.
People that get excluded will become frustrated with the game and stop playing, so the Devs get less money.
Now it won't just be individuals that have paid for this aswell that get excluded, but new players whos general game knowledge was quite low will also get excluded if they underperform because people will think they have paid for this.
Eventually a level of elitism evolves whereby people only trust playing with people they have been playing with a while. The playerbase and endgame become stagnant, more people leave and the game deterioates.
OK, so a fairly pessimistic and doom filled possibility, but one I can totally see happening, and just one of the many things they have to consider when thinking abou this. -
Quote:You forgot the "This is Spartaaaa!" at the end.But it is up to us to make it work. Not Beasty, not Zwilly, not Posi nor War Witch nor anybody else. It is up to us.
We, the superheroes of Paragon City, are what will make this work. And I don't mean we as in me and you and every other you reading this. I mean we as a community.
People come to this game to be superheroes, but they stay for the community. These new Freepers or Freeks or whatever you want to call them are going to come here to get in some tights and knock some people around. They'll have a blast, we know they will, because this game is fun. At the end of the day, though, you can only bust so many skulls by yourself. They're going to look for more reason to stay.
And they will find it in our community! But only if you show them. Stay on your home server and engage as many of these freeks as you can. Take them on high level teams, show them what characters are capable of, what fun can be had spending time with friends. Lead them on low level TFs, show them the joys of supersidekicking and never leaving friends behind because you're too high level. Show them that you don't need to exclude a friend because you never need a tank or a healer or a DPSer or anything else for that last spot. That they only need superheroes. Or supervillains. Or super rogues and vigilantes and praetorians and aliens and angels and demons and even catgirls. Let them know that you just need to be with friends and you can accomplish anything.
Show them these things, and they'll fall in love with this community just like you did. Just like I did. The game will be able to grow and prosper, which leads to more development resources, which leads to a better game experience for all of us.
I ask you just one more thing before I end this post.
Hold me to the same.
But yeah, since its about community, I agree, its all us. -

Quote:you mean a power that with 2 TMs on the team wouldn't be very long recharge, and would have everyone spamming their most powerful stuff every few seconds?Hmmmm. Here's an idea for a unique power: A very long recharge click power that instantly recharges all your other powers. Or perhaps all of an ally's powers.
win! -
Quote:Yeah guessing is kinda pointless, but its kinda what happens here. All we know so far is it's a set. We don't know any details than that.
Until the devs see fit to bless us with that info guessing is mostly pointless.
Once they announce what the has in it and what exactly it does, it's fair game.
Also if the community let Devs know what we expect of a modern, well deseign powerset early on in its (public) development cycle increases the chances of getting a powerset most people cna be happy with.
Look at Demon Summoning and Electric Control, not a single "duff" power among them that would instantly have people saying "skip this" when people ask for advice.
Look at Gravity and Dark, and the majority of people will say outside of concept or pre-planned teaming, theres a skippable power highlighted by its functionality, and its limited use.
The Devs can and will chance something at this stage, I have it on good authority that in early closed beta of GR, Conductive Aura was Confusing Aura, and was entirely more awesome than it is on live, too awesome, it overperformed and was changed drastically.
Sure, those of us not lucky enough to be in CB can't know what they have planned, but we can still aim to let them know our expectations, so they can better dash them against the jagged cliffs later... :P -

Going the extra mile to add it so that Free players can use the tell system to Server/Global friends I think would be beyond awesome.
Probably alot of work, but would definately go along way, they get a team, make a few quick friends, and can still let those friendships grow. -
Quote:unless they have some seriously cool tech for a phase power to make it useable, I hope they have learnt their lessons and won't implment one. Please do not give us another version of Phase power!!!! We do not need AoE Phase power. I hate how phase works in this game. Mobs still regenerate health/endurance while being phased out.
Well, the only thing that I can think of is having a lot of +recharge and -slow debuffs.
Good design is recognising what most players like... and dislike, and I'd rather struggle to choose my powers because all 9 are useful, than have a useless one, thats just wasted developer time! -
animation looks very much like The Incredibles, which can definately work, its definately a step in the right direction to try that instead of "ZOMG lets copy anime" alot of USA produced cartoons go for.
Follow on to the movie? or happenstance/commerical masterminding? the trailer barely hints, and I haven't seen the movie yet to know if it sets up for this.
But it should be good, and his options are fairly wide set to encouter some of the more galactic heroes and villains, while still flitting back to Earth for JL adventures. -
Quote:You can watch MM pets stand on said platform, and I've even relaxed my wings momentarily by landing on it too, and I believe, though its bene a while since I did a raid or an LGTF, that it is persistant.Hamidon is also a cheat in the system.
His mito's, for example, do have maximum protection and resistance to knock-effects. Reportedly their "flying" effect is gained by being immobilized on a tiny translucent platform. Pets, such as Phantom Army, can be observed using these platforms to jump from... or land upon.
Regardless, they are still bipedal frames underneath used to mount the object in viewable space.
The interesting test would be if the platforms are there before Hami spawns -
Otherwise setting x8 while on an 8 man group would be.... interestingly fun!

My trouble with Smith is that most versions of the Doctor have had their own personality, their own spin.
The step between Ecclestons Doctor and Tennant's one was quite noticable, you have the warrior and the pacifist, you have level headed and off the wall.
I look at Smith and theres, well, he seems as off the wall as Tennant, childish and immature morseo, but overall, more like he acting his version of Tennant's Doctor, rather than his own Doctor.
I think the whole series wouldd have been better had Smith's Doctor been mature and "old beyond his years" given his young looks.
Also, Smith is ugly, Tennant was not... -
A work around with all the costume cost reduction stuff goign around is to save you're costumes and switch at the tailor, not a very good work around, but one none the less.

invest in Mids Hero Designer, its free, so nto exactly much of an investment per se, but its gold.
Decide as you go into a build if it is to be a "Copy this as I level up" build or a "Change to this once I'm at XX level" build.
If you intend on normal slotting, or even frankenslotting, hop to it.
If you want to use IOs, set yourself a goal, do you want moar recharge, defence (what type?) Accuracy, regeneration, recovery, damage?
Be realistic, with you're budget, if you're unsure as to the price of an IO check in game, theres no point planning a build it will take you a year to afford, you won't have fun aiming for it.
Learn the rules, or atleast, The rule of 5.
erm, dont become addicted to mids at the expense of spending any time actually in game, I'm fairly guilty of that some days....... -
Quote:
Hurl, it's always concrete sure, but I figure that's because the game system won't tint the piece of concrete to look like what you're standing on.
So if the Devs turned around and said "Sorry, we can't change it to represent what you are standing on top of at all times. So for thematic purposes Hurl will now always ONLY work on the material that represents it's gfx"
you would be happy with that?
Sure theres an aweful lot less suspension of disbelief when using hurl on the wrong material than there is in the air, but its still there, its just what peopole are willing to accept to be aloud to use their power.... -
Well i've only got 3, and ones one that is auto added, so yeah, 4 is an even number :P

Quote:We've most certainly conveyed feedback received about equity in costume piece choices. What was communicated to me is that many of the pieces that are gender specific are usually done in that manner so as to allow for greater variety in character design options, in addition to accounting for production time, value and scope. (plainly said, more costume pieces mean more time in development which means less packs less frequently. Even if it's the same costume piece, it's and entirely "new" piece if we port it to different body types i.e.; male, female, huge). That being said, our character artists, such as Cheryl, are hearing requests for items such as more coat options for females and the like and will certainly take that into account with future new costume options.
We are committed to providing you all with a diverse range of costume design options, regardless of your body type or gender.
So in a nutshell, Quantity > Quality... but it may change? -
Personally I found Primeval to be very poor.
Obviously good british sci-fi is hard to come by, so I gave it its fair dues, but I felt some of the casting choices were poor, and their weak acting skills in the early season, as well as a poor plot early on, turned me off it. -
