From the mind of my wonderful wife: A non-combat chibi Matt Miller pet that follows you around saying "I gotta eat!". Once you feed it an inspiration or enhancement (which just gets deleted from the game) he says "Om nom nom!"
He can also have a few other random phrases built in, relating to AP33 and other rallying slogans -
Quote:WildStar is (in my opinion) worth looking at in depth if you can see past the NCsoft ties.I got a vibe that is what Wildstar seems to be shooting for. Only saw a cinematic trailer, though. It was cartoony but it made me think that is what a cartoon version of Firefly would look like.
It does have a frontier planet/Firefly vibe but with the addition of magic as well as technology (for example one faction are rebels/freedom fighters and the other are a universe spanning empire).
Have a Google for "WildStar Central" where you can check out all the video, articles, wiki entries, etc. that have been released so far. -
As this thread has clearly spelt out, there's no MMO where anyone is really feeling at home. I feel the same - I have a CO Account, a Lifetime STO account and a couple of others that get occasional play but nothing concrete.
So, what is coming up on the gaming horizon that you're hopeful for? For my money (all links are to MMORPG.com so you can get some background for each)...
-
DUST 514 - The FPS partner to EVE Online, I'm intrigued by this PS3 only title and can see myself dropping in and out of this one too, if not actually making a home there.
Neverwinter - Got hands-on with this one at PAX East this year and despite playing a melee class which I almost never do I actually was entertained when doing so. Will be keeping an eye on this one!
Otherland - I adore the setting from the books by Tad Williams and always though this should be an MMO. Glad to see it's being made and showing some promise. If they make good on things, then I can see myself settling in for a time.
PlanetSide 2 - I'm currently beta testing this and actually having a blast with it. Still only have one out of three continents but each update is making it feel more and more of a fully fleshed MMO. If you like PvP games you should certainly check it out.
WildStar - Yes, it's an NCsoft property which may have some of you instantly disregard it, but this is the one I'm looking forward to most. I've been following it for years and from the interaction with the dev team and info out there it says to me this will likely be my new home. Which I will build ingame. With "defensive" cannons.
-
So, what MMO properties are you looking at that aren't out yet that I or others might be interest in? -
Just when I'd stopped tearing up....
But thank you. All of you. Let us know where you go and what your doing, somehow. -

Quote:And this is why I posted no link. Because I empathise with how you feel - I am almost in tears here over CoH.Same here. I even showed Wildstars introduction video and a few of in-game videos along with a testers blog notes to a lot of people. Now not just stomach I don't even have a nail left on me to look at it. Sorry Master Zaprobo if conditions were different I would gladly join your community and I respect your decision but there is just not even a stone left in me to give to NCSoft yet alone money and be advised if same thing with GW2 happens with Wildstar they will immediatly shutdown it not another one of their products.
Years ago, I played Earth and Beyond, a Westwood Studios MMO. When EA purchased Westwood, shortly after they canned E&B. I swore I would never play another EA game as long as I lived. I meant it too.
I've since played EA Games. And enjoyed them. So I know some may in time not be so adverse to seeing what another NCsoft Studio - which is what Paragon Studios were - are making.
I'll miss my CoH home. I hope you all find your new MMO Homes too. -
My new home is WildStar. Yes, it's another NCsoft Studio, but I blame the money not the people.
I'm already admin of the biggest WildStar community out there, so if my CoH friends can stomach it, you can find me at WildStar Central (Google us, I'll not be so crass as to post a link).
Otherwise I'm in the PlanetSide 2 beta, but that has no character akin to CoH. You'll find me here or there until WildStar releases. -
I've not been around of late, and probably few people know me now. But for posterity you'll find me here...

If you see a Zap-Robo, ZapRobo or a ZapRobotnik elsewhere then it's me too.
And I understand if you'd all rather not, but I'm the admin of WildStar Central (no link, just Google us if you're interested). The thought of an NCsoft-sponsored game likely makes a lot of you sick right now but I'll be over there if you see this and fancy "catching up". -
I would suspect all their fighting has already been done. And at the end of the day as a business they're beholden to their Corporate Overlords. Who are pulling the plug.
I can only blame myself for this, in a small way. I let my subscription lapse and though "well, it's free to play so I'll just subscribe once I get around to playing again".
I did myself, and Paragon, a disservice. -
Trying not to here - I'm at work and a colleague is around. But I'm damn close.

Quote:From my MM Guide under "Interface Slotting"...There's no information on whether or not the various procs actually work with our pets (if it doesn't, of course, it renders the Interface slot almost entirely pointless) and very few guides on this specific topic.
"Once crafted and slotted, this slot will provide a proc effect (proc meaning "chance to occur") on all your attacks. This also includes all the attacks made by your henchmen and pets that cause damage (this includes secondary pets, and pets from the Lore Incarnate abilities)."
The Fire Proc will only stack so many times with itself (forget the details) so if others in the League are using the same Interface option, you may not see any effect. -
Quote:Of course there is (and I thought what I was proposing was an obvious parallel, though maybe my explanation outside of my own head was flawed)! You just listed it. Make it affect a variety of things like "Control Duration" does. However, those are not simply +controlduration enhancements. It's a Hold/Immob/Disorient/Sleep/Confuse duration enhancement.
there would be no nice way to have a +Special like that.
Make it a Heal/Def/Res/Immob/Hold/Slow/Stun/etc. enhancement - basically make it enhance everything that isn't End/Dam/Rchg/Acc. Just label it "Secondary Abilities". A bunch of the enhancement will obviously go to waste, much like the "Control Duration" does but it'll make it that much more unique/useful for Masterminds. -
Yep, I was there - had a great (if half asleep) time running Taskforce Omega (I still have the custom character from Team Solid (and one of the shirts made for the team)).
Anyone know if this is still in place?
Shame I'm no longer in the UK. -
Precedent has been set for a "multi-aspect" enhancement component to this ATO's with "Control Duration" in Will of the Controller.

Quote:Okay, I've duly tested and the Recharge Enhancement attribute (and Global Recharge from the set bonus) will quite happily affect how quickly you can summon your henchmen.Absolutely - well aware of that but I had it in my head somewhere that it was changed so that there was NO benefit in Recharge at all. I'd test it but I'm at work right now
The fact that the Pet Damage sets have zero Recharge (and there's separate Recharge Intensive Pet sets) seems to bear this out.
It is, however, THE worst thing to enhance for on a Mastermind summon. A better idea (in my mind) would be a "Special" option which boosts a secondary function of any given henchman (like Heal/Def for Protector Bots, Heal/Res for Ember Demons, etc. [with pure damage Henches getting a mini-buildup chance])
The AoE Def special hancie is not awful, but it seems that way when it is paired with Recharge and you may well have to forgo something critical in a primary Summon! -
Popped onto the test server and did a little testing for my own edification.
Global Recharge works on the speed the Summon recharges, but is not shown in the Power Attributes window. Recharge slotted into the Summon works, and is reflected in the Power Attributes window.
I'm just copying over a Demon/* and a Necromancy/* to test things for Hell on Earth and Soul Extraction (I'll assume Gang War falls in the same category - additional pets from Primary power since I don't have a Thugs/* MM high enough). -
One change? Make all IO Enhancement Set Bonuses affect your henches as well. Make bonuses like +Dam and +Acc as useful for MM's as everyone else.
-
Quote:Absolutely - well aware of that but I had it in my head somewhere that it was changed so that there was NO benefit in Recharge at all. I'd test it but I'm at work right nowRecharge in pet powers increased the recharge of the power itself but does not affect the recharge of the powers of the pets it summons. Supposedly the reasoning behind it was that increasing the recharge in pets affected their AI poorly. It also made Lightning Storm ridiculous.
The fact that the Pet Damage sets have zero Recharge (and there's separate Recharge Intensive Pet sets) seems to bear this out. -
I thought even that was changed (but I can't find patch notes to that effect with a cursory search).

Masterminds, all,
With the release of the Super Pack I looked into grabbing some of the Mastermind ATO set when I noticed a curious thing. Four out of the six enhancements grant Recharge Reduction. Mastermind Henchmen can't benefit from Recharge.
Okay, thought I, I'll pop the set into my Rifle attack. No go - it specifically requires it to be slotted into a Mastermind Henchman power. So that means the only (potentially, as I'm Robotics) valid place to put them is in powers like Soul Extraction, Hell on Earth, Gang War, etc. Any confirmation on this? Do they work in those powers?
Regardless, the inclusion of so much Recharge in a Mastermind-specific Enhancement set seems... lazy.
Thoughts? -
Not the most popular choice these days but on my Bots/FF MM I am actually surprised when i lose even one robot. With the (relatively recent) change that makes Force Field application a targeted AoE and the Protector Bots deploying their own [Force Shield] each robot becomes like a Tank in and of itself.

The story as it stood had me thinking that I would get the killing blow in on Statesman.
To keep the outcome (Statesman removed from the universe) I would have gone with a moral choice scenario.
Darrin Wade manages to extract the power of Statesman, leaving him unconscious but as a mortal unpowered human.
The fights between the player and Darrin proceeds as currently written but afterwards you are presented with the choice of...
Hero
- Hide Marcus Cole and let the world think Statesman is dead (Vigilante)
- Honour Marcus Cole and see he gets the best of care (Hero)
Vigilante
- Honour Marcus Cole and see he gets the best of care (Hero)
- Kidnap Marcus Cole for your own ends [ransom/experiment] (Villain)
Villain
- Kill Marcus Cole, ridding the world of Statesman (Villain)
- Hide Marcus Cole and let the world think Statesman is dead (Vigilante)
Rogue
- Kill Marcus Cole, ridding the world of Statesman (Villain)
- Honour Marcus Cole and see he gets the best of care (Hero)
... or other equivalents (made these options up off the top of my head - there are probably better ones). Phasing technology could then be used to display appropriate statues/plaques/NPC comments on Statesman's death/disappearance/retirement. -

I understand the reasoning (and even support it for non-combat pets), but am looking for the patch notes detailing the change.
