  1. I'm a little curious about how the buying/selling cycle works at Wentworth's. I'm working on my Field Crafter badge, so I'm buying salvage. One of the salvages has about 300 bidding, and 600 selling. The last 5 transactions are about 15k.

I put in a bid for 15,001. Nothing happens. I wait a few minutes, and then I get the "bought" message on my salvage. No other transaction seems to take place between when I placed my bid and when I got it.

Now, other times, if I were to place my bid, I'll get the item immediately.

Is there some sort of timed cycle? In other words, does the computer only determine "bought" status every few seconds (say every 10 seconds starting at exactly midnight or something)? Or is it more complicated than that?

    Time limit issue

In my arc, I wanted to have one of the missions with a time limit of one hour. For some reason, however, after about 5 - 10 minutes, the mission exits, giving me the mission failed popup. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to fix it?

Ok Marc! You're on. I'll play your arc if you'll play mine.

    Arc Number: 320225
    @Werpan
    Title: Trick or Treat?
    Level: 1-54
Missions: 3, includes custom enemies and NPCs. 1st mission includes a lieutenant level named "defeat boss," the second mission has a boss level named "defeat boss" and the third mission has an elite boss. She is a hard one to take out alone.

Some things I am specifically looking for feedback on:

    1) Should I change the maps, especially of the first 2 missions, to indoor maps? The rescued NPCs do not leave the map in the map I chose and it bugs me! I am also not all that keen on outdoor maps...

    2) Is the difficulty of the mission appropriate? Challenging without killing you (more than once anway...)? Are the minions hard enough without being too hard?

I have not had a lower level character play my arc and I would really appreciate any comments you have for your (almost) lvl 10.

    Thanks!

A very nice arc. I think you could have done a bit better on the descriptions, especially with "captured hero" in the first mission. A name for him would have been good, too.

I found the mission just challenging enough for me. I'm not used to playing a melee character (I prefer blapping), but I didn't feel overwhelmed. Even the Elite Boss, while a challenging fight, was not too bad (although, you did warn me ahead of time, so I was able to load up on Enrages and Sturdies).

As for your first question: I'd say for the first mission, you'd want to keep it outside. It's immediately after the kidnapping, and it makes sense that you'd find the villains outside, on their way back to their lair. The second mission could be done in a cave, or even in an abandoned portion of Orebanga.

The third mission, I'd say keep outdoors. It's in Croatoa, which is a weird zone all by itself, so having it in the plaza does work. Also, the map wasn't too large as to make finding defeating all the enemies impossible. Putting it indoors, in my opinion would remove the feeling that one is in Croatoa. If you're not making Croatoa a huge portion of the story (for example, it could just as easily be Perez Park), then you can put it inside.

    All in all, I'm giving you a 4 out of 5 :0)

  4. So, I saw Coulomb2's Pro Payne thread, and I thought that would be a good idea to try as well. I'm currently leveling my own character strictly in MA (in fact, I'm in the middle of Coulomb2's "Learning the Ropes" arc), and I'm looking for missions to review. The difference is, that I'd appreciate it if you guys would also review the arc I have listed in my signature, as well as give me constructive feed back in this thread on what you think. I'm going to try and do one or two arcs a day, and they will be done mostly in order. Right now, my character is only lvl 9 (though I hope to be lvl 10 by the time I finish this arc), so keep that in mind.

    Marc
  5. Hi! I think this is a great idea. Please play my arc (#320650 ) and tell me what you think. I will play yours a little later this evening.

Edit: Sorry, Arrow Rose, it seems your arc is a little too high for me right now. I've only got a lvl 36 and a lvl 9.

    Marc
  6. I've recently created a new story arc, and would appreciate feedback. It's fairly long (5 missions), but I try to keep it easy.

    Mission arc#320650

    The basic story:

Tonya has been hired by her boss to promote several missions to help local villains survive the current recession. There is a dangerous twist, however, when Tanya discovers that her boss is attempting to destroy two universes!

On my own, I'm thinking of getting rid of the third mission. It's rather pointless, and I think I can do the reveal in mission two, thus limiting the arc to four missions, instead of five.

    For a breakdown:

Mission 1: Arachnos, Custom Boss. Defeat Boss and guards, rescue hostage, look for clues.
Mission 2: Council, Custom Boss. Defeat Boss and guards, rescue hostage, look for clues.
Mission 3: Hydra, Custom Boss. Defeat Boss and guards, rescue hostage, look for clues.
Mission 4: Defeat all enemies, close portals. Custom group. Custom Boss
Mission 5: Defeat all enemies. Defeat Boss. Custom group. Custom Boss.

There is also a souvenir at the end of the arc.

    Constructive feedback is appreciated.

    Marc
  7. I tried to make this arc friendly to lowbies and soloists.

    Mission #320650

So far, I'm managing quite well with a lvl 8 corrupter. I haven't tried it with lower levels, though.

    Marc
  8. Hi all. I just posted my new arc. It starts out as a bit of tongue in cheek against random missions, then it gets serious. There are five missions, with custom bosses (though standard group minions). The final mission is completely custom. It is solo-friendly.

Please, let me know what you think. Feedback is greatly appreciated.

If you MUST do it on your own, for whatever reason, go into options and turn off your XP so you stay 35 indefinitely. Then just keeping doing radio missions until you get the safeguard you want.
I ended up finding someone else who had it. I got lucky, it was the first person I'd asked, and he had no problem letting me get the badge and get out.

    Oops

That's likely what I'll have to do. I just tried running radio missions in FF, and it still comes up Brickstown. I was kind of hoping to do this solo, but if I can't, I can't.

City Info tracker is the closest I've found so far. Each badge has a bit of a popup which tells you where you can find what you need.

    Oops

    I think I messed up.

I leveled up to 35, and hadn't done the Talos Island Safeguard Mission yet. Not a problem, I thought. The wiki says it's 30-35, so I should still be able to get it. I go through the requisite number of missions, and instead, it gives me Brickstown (35-40). This worries me, because, of course, it means I'm missing a badge.

My question is, if I were to go to a different town (I'm in Brickstown now, so Founder's Falls, for instance), and run missions there, would I be given the other Safeguard Mission? Or am I out of luck?

    Found it, thanks

I don't think it was like that when I hit 6 months, but that was a while ago, and I had stopped playing for a bit.

    Marc
  14. So, I just got my badge for my 9 month veteran status. However, I didn't get the costume change and respec that go with it. Is that no longer available? If so, is there a new list of what goes with what veteran rewards other than the one on Paragon Wiki?

I believe you can only respec one.

Does it matter which one, though? I had a free respec with the new issue, but when I tried to respec my secondary build, it didn't work. Is it only for your primary build?

    1) Your post says you're searching on the mountain in Eastgate Heights (the area in the lower right of the zone). If so, the place that you should be looking is Grendel's Gulch (the big pit in the middle).

    2) Most advice on hunting Magmites dates from before the Hollows revamp a few issues ago. Nowadays the smoky spots will usually just spawn minions and lieutenants unless you've got at least a small team together (just 2 or 3 people will do it).

    Good luck!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, I saw a couple of Magmites in Grendel's Gulch today, but that's about it. It's likely, like you said, that I'll have to try and get team together on the weekend sometime.

    Marc
  17. [ QUOTE ]
You forgot to mention that people can bring a pet (most controllers, dark defenders).

Or bite the bullet and team with a lowbie. I don't understand why people display hatred of teaming for badges.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's not the a dislike of teaming, it's the hours that I'm on that really don't allow regular teaming. Generally, if I'm on for a team, it's because I'm doing an STF.

    Marc
  18. I got the Whirlwind, but no luck on getting them to appear. I think my initial thought of those firespots being them was wrong, since I whirled around all around those spots, but no luck. I'm going to give them a rest for a bit, unless someone else has a better idea of where they might be.

    Marc
  19. [ QUOTE ]
it's not AOE It's PBAOE like lightning field or hot feet
you turn those toggles on and walk over them, they should pop
    hope this helps

    [/ QUOTE ]

So, if my toon doesn't have a PBAoE power, I'm pretty much out of luck to solo them?

    Marc
  20. According to City Info tracker, you can farm the Magmite bosses in Eastgate Heights in the Hollows by using an AoE attack where there's smoke on the mountain. I've been going all over the mountain, and while I haven't seen smoke, I have seen fire. However, when I use my AoE attack (Fire Rain), nothing seems to happen. Is there something I'm missing?

    Marc
  21. So, my contact gives me the mission, "Disprove the Warrior's Invincibility" in Talos Island. I fly around a bit, and everywhere I see a Warrior, he's getting his heinie kicked by either the Freakshow or the Tsoo. Sometimes even by other Warriors. Many of them are begging for mercy in the NPC dialogue.

Frankly, just looking at what's going on should have been enough to convince my contact that they were no where near invincible, and I have to wonder, should I be arresting these guys, or saving them?

    Marc
  22. Other than The Hollows and Steel Canyon, is there a better place to farm Outcast Leaders?

    Marc
  23. Fury,

Thank you That does look a lot better than mine.

    Marc
  24. I'm currently lvl 17 (Fire/Eng), and I was thinking of starting to save my salvage for when I start slotting Invention Enhancements (I was thinking around lvl 30). Since this would be after the lvl 24 Respec trial, I figured I might as well see what I want to do for a respec. I was hoping I could get some feed back on my choices.

The issues I had with the old build are this:

    1) I don't think I had enough slots in my attack powers to do as much damage as I'd like. As someone who primarily solos, I like being able to take out my opponents quickly. At lvl 17, I'm fine, but looking ahead, I'm worried I might not be able to survive as easily as I'd like.

    2) I originally had Combat Jump/Super Jump/Acrobatics. I don't like Super Jump. I actually just like flying, but for missions (especially in caves), Hover's not doing it for me. I like Combat Jump, hence my choice.
