*Offers a hug to Posi*
I feel for ya, really. Seems like you can't catch a break here. System after system, AE, power customization now Incarnates are all slaved over and hoped to be HUGE only to have us gripe like mad.
*Hands Dev team a box of KitKats*
You've earned a break after this for sure.
(OT; Thanks for this quick bit of Triage, knowing it's a red alert status goes a long way towards retaining goodwill!) -
Well since that's taken care of let me beat out GG by saying;
Welcome back!! -
Indeed that was my initial thought as well. What with the nonsensical capitalizing of every other letter and all.
Then I decided to do some digging and from the looks of it...
He's a Hitman for hire, who'll dispose of Heroes or Villains alike. So this is most likely him letting his contractor know he'd fulfilled his obligation and then some. -
In all this time I'd actually forgotten about The Mysterious Letter writer...
Hmm, Promethesus just got more interesting indeed.
I'd always just assummed the letter was written to you by a future you.
As an aside; Do you GG, think TCS will involve the Praetorians or an as of now unknown group? -
I wouldn't call those hints about Issue 21 though. That's just ambigious talk designed to flesh out the interview. Besides, we've known about Prometheus' dual persona since the top cow comics and it wouldn't make sense not to continue using the new tech for AV's. So, where's the hints?
I wouldn't have read both pages if I'd known it was just a recap of what we already know. -
The page you linked to makes it sound like they won't actually be 'awarded' until Thursday the 28th though.
That said....
YAY!! Can't wait, as I've always loved the costume pieces but hated farming merits/waiting 30+ levels for the weapon to match a concept! -
Only if they made changes to allow personal bases/apartments.
Otherwise I wouldn't want the manpower/hours spent working on packs that a small segment of players can actually use. Seeing as right now, only 1 or 2 selected people from large SG's ever really get a chance to toy with it I'd have to say...
/No. -
Best two off the top of my head for middle ground busy/boring would be;
Fire/Ice Blaster - Best of both worlds. Great AOE damage with the survivability of Ice!
Dark Melee/Regen Scrapper - Regen has a bit of a learning curve, but once you get used to it a regen can do some amazing things. Most of the time you'll not have to worry much about your secondary but from time to time it's a very clicky set. Meaning you won't have a set-and-forget secondary, but still have good defense otherwise. -
I often find myself holding back on certain powers for a cinematic finsher. Usually something with KB. My SS Brute will hold off knockout blow sometimes, even though it'd take out my target much quicker, just so I can use it to finish them off by punching them into the ceiling!
I see nothing wrong with adding some flare with our powers. Nothing says you have to run the optimum attack chain constantly and I think that'd be quite boring regardless. -
As far as servers go, we aren't far off from being merged with the EU server list so this may change but as of now;
Virtue is still the unofficial RP server, and generally 2nd in population.
Freedom is #1 in population.
All others fall into vague categories like the drunken server, the unofficial Australian server etc.
Electric Control is SICK in the right hands. Dual Pistols on the other hand is rather meh, imo. Unless you have a gun-kata concept character, the jumping and spinning all around animations for DP just ruined it for me.
My suggestion is narrow it down to a certain AT you'd feel comfortable with, maybe even power combo. Then if your still having trouble fleshing out the concept let us know. Most of us can come up with a lasting concept pretty quickly based off powers/costumes.
My preference is Blasters. They come with the damage to kill quick but require tactics and skill to survive. Once you master the subtle variations in powersets, Blasters can be quite survivable. While avoiding the Click, Click. Target, Click Click ad naseuam burnout of scrappers. -
Wow! Makes me think of a humanoid Stegosaurus. Very cool.
-
I can't get a picture since I'm at work but...
I avoided Spines for all these years because of that very reason. I couldn't stand the look. When the new options came out though I toyed around with them and ended up with a concept that really clicked.
Nature's Knight is a Plant/Thorn Dom, I used the slate option and colored them green so that they look like razor sharp leaves. With the plant features for hair and belt it really goes well together and doesn't feel like a 'blowfish' like you mentioned. I really liked the option to have various spines for every attack, As I've got one attack that is vines, utilizing the old spiky spines colored brown. I'll try to remember to post a screenie when I get home. -
Gotta go back to 2005 for this one.
It was my 2nd or 3rd day ingame. I zoned to Kings Row and as soon as I exited I saw this awesome looking player, Guy was huge! Had flaming wings and everything! I was fumbling around with right click, trying to read his bio when the Behemoth demolished my squishy blaster...
Still not sure how a COT Behemoth made it into the little exit alcove without being droned.
2nd place most embarrassing is one quite a few of us shared when we were new.
(Broadcast)ME: Are the trains broken? It won't let me click the door...
(Broadcast)Whole Zone: You standing at the exit aren't you? ;p -
The most off putting thing for me with the 2 new windows is when I play my support toons. The new health bars decrease by half and I instinctively reach for my heal, only to look at the bar above their name and realize they've barely been scratched and I just wasted the heal...
-
What would be the best AT/power combo to Duo with an Electric/Electric?
What would provide the best synergy? When your running solo on your Elec/Elec what other AT would you want by your side?
I ask because I like playing all types and have a RL friend that finally decided to rejoin. I have no experience with Electric though so I'm unfamiliar with it's needs/wants.
Thanks in advance! -
Hmmm. I didn't really notice any rough patch on my Necro/Dark. Was one of the fastest leveling toons I've made. By comparison my Bots/Storm and Thugs/Traps felt glacial before SO's.
Vet rewards help in the mid teens, speeding up kills. I never use BG mode on the Necro either, preferring to keep the mindless corpses in passive until I get them massed around the mob with GoTo. Then I click attack and let the frenzy commence. I found myself rarely using more than my heal and tar patch for the 1st 30 levels. Necro/Dark to me is an Ambush predator. My MO is usually to put them in passive in a corner and then pull a mob to them, laying down patch once they're swamped and hitting howling.
Though I will admit. My MM's are strictly solo affairs so that could be skewing my opinion.
Last thing I'd add is to look into getting the Unique defense IO's as soon as you can. They really make a difference with the melee monsters. That and I always run Maneuvers and Tactics as well. -
That is my only real fear. That by not participating in the new trials 'RIGHT NAO!!' I'll be so far behind by the time the new stuff comes out I'll never be able to participate...
The rumors flying around that 'The Coming Storm' will require a level shift is really concerning me as well. We've been anxiously awaiting this Epic Event since Ouro came out years ago. All this time eagerly anticipating it and now I'm starting to wonder if I'll even have a chance to enjoy it.
As I don't plan to become an Incarnate with any of my 100's of toons I'll be HIGHLY ticked off if The Coming Storm is locked behind a curtain for Incarnates only...
Part of the great thing about COH has been it's mantra of You can be more powerful if you want (i.e. Purples) but that it isn't mandatory to enjoy the content. If you didn't wanna bother with IO's you weren't suddenly locked out from participating in all the new content being released. This philosophy seems to have changed now and if 'we' want to see any of the content being released this year and most of next we have no choice but use the system. That fly's in the face of 6 years worth of making the game accessible to all.
I don't mind the Endgame being grindy, or group oriented, or even certain events being tied into them. When it's optional. But to hang a carrot in front of us for years (The Storm) only to find out when it finally arrives that I've locked myself out of it by not spending a year grinding out ixp would really, really... be a let down. -
In all seriousness, I wouldn't expect any more Power Prolif. before 2012...
From the looks of things, even though Posi handed control over to WW so he could focus on the Incarnate system, it seems that all of ParagonStudio's resources are being engulfed by said system for at least the next 2 issues.

I don't envy you guys, I bet it's been a really hectic week there at PS that now seems to be spilling into the weekend as well.

Some of the more notable ones def. are. Like others, I'd been simply Maestro in many a game long before this one.
So my 1st toon ever was naturally going to be Maestro.
Typed it in and got the 'Name unavailable' message. Well, okay games been out for nearly a year so someone else has it on this server...
I ended up trying all 11 servers and got the same message on all. Chalked it up to being such a simple name that it was just 'in use' and came up with the Mavius moniker, which ironically has taken over as my Avatar name of choice.
20 some odd levels later Maestro Mavius finally came face to face with the Arch Villain that prevented me from having 'My' name...
Still to this day I haven't had as much joy at pounding the daylights out of an NPC as I did the day I defeated the Council's Maestro!
That'll teach him from keeping my name from me! -
Oh... Um...
From what I've been reading (Have no vested interest in trying them yet)
you should go into the new trials expecting to eat more floor than your entire career up to that point. Win or Fail, you'll still be earning shards or whatever shiny it is now.
The new trials were designed with the incarnate level shifts in mind and by default will be agonizingly hard for those unslotted.
But back OT; Mind is to single (pun incoming) minded for my tastes. But I've always had a thing against sleeps in this game, as AOE's fly like mad on teams.
