Stupid but fun

Now, I am not familiar with Martial Arts primary, so I wanted to play something fun and different, I rolled up a MA/FA scrapper named Daddy Zoot (sorta a fan of swing dancing). After the first few levels oh around 8th I got Crane kick...I noticed I was doing something very stupid, I was waiting until the mob was almost dead before unloading crane kick.

Why?

Its stupid from almost every angle. Overkill, lets the mob do more damage, while I have one of the softer resistance armors.

Because its fun. I was getting a kick (winces at the pun), out of seeing a mob fly across the screen and drop dead. Something about a Troll, Hellion, etc, getting dropped kicked that was making me smile.

For a split second, I forgot about AoEs, attack chains etc. It was all about Chuck Norrising some guy across the screen. It made me remember why I love comic books, and what first hooked me to this game.

Just thought I would share this Hallmark moment.

K now add a Knockback IO or 3 in it

I often find myself holding back on certain powers for a cinematic finsher. Usually something with KB. My SS Brute will hold off knockout blow sometimes, even though it'd take out my target much quicker, just so I can use it to finish them off by punching them into the ceiling!

I see nothing wrong with adding some flare with our powers. Nothing says you have to run the optimum attack chain constantly and I think that'd be quite boring regardless.

Next you need to position yourself to crane kick them off of ledges, rooftops, cliffs and balconies as often as it possible.

This is not an option... it's an absolute necessity. If you're not going to do it, you might as well pick up Crippling Axe Kick and bypass Crane Kick altogether.

I wonder if you can Crane Kick enemies off a ledge, quickly TP Foe them back in front of you and Crane Kick them off again. That's going to be my new go to combo. Kiyaaaaah!

This is also fun if you are teamed with someone using ground-patch powers like Ice Slick, Earthquake, Tar Patch, etc. You can kick strays back into the patch. This doesn't really help much because they'll be defeated soon anyway (there's a Scrapper on the team), but it will amaze the character who cast the patch.

The next step : KBing a target of someone else's Ion Judgement while it's powering up, far enough as to make it not chain.

Not that I'd ever do that.

Organica is right.

You must solo along the wall in Cimerora, kicking them, especially Surgeons, over the edge. Can't think of anywhere lower level with that kind of opportunity.

That's what crane is for.

[Unfortunately, I recently respecced out in favor of Crippling Leg Spasm.]

Circle of Thorns/Clockwork on the rooftops in Kings Row.

Clockwork on the rooftops in Steel Canyon, where if you get it just right, you can punt one from a rooftop on the upper level all the way to the lower level (remember, Clockwork are weak to KB <grin>)

Anything on the overpasses in Skyway, usually Lost. Also, Lost and CW on the rooftops.

Pretty much anywhere in the northern sector of Faultline, with all those large drops and no safety railings.

I still remember taking my Fire/FF/Primal controller back to Atlas Park at level 50, popping Power Boost (before they stopped it affecting KB) and sending a Hellion flying with Force Bolt pretty much from one side of the zone to the other, and flying alongside it for as much of their unexpected excursion as I could manage

If you want fun, use Knockout Blow to put them on the ground and then use Foot Stomp, it looks like you just curb stomped them

Or Soaring Dragon and then Golden Dragonfly.

They go up. You bring them back down, HARD.

Or, for an MA chain I think visually flows nicely, Eagle's Claw, Dragon's Tail, Crane Kick. You go Up, flip, kick the face, come back Down, drop into a spin, then rise into the ever entertaining (and linking back to the OP) Crane Kick.

What?

OK, just me then...

<shuffles out of thread>

Haha all the posts here made me laugh and was very entertaining. Time to take my MA/SR & crane kick

Six slots of Kinetic Crash in my MA/Fire's Crane Kick for a solid finishing move with miles of knockback. Plus S/L res. Plus KB resistance. Plus +recharge.

I just wish they'd let me slot KB sets into RotP for the laughs that would ensue from blowing a spawn all over the zone.

Thanks all for the replies and good ideas for more..umm lets call it scenic locations for kicking. The other night, my wife and I were in KR trying out some skeet shooting, my scrapper and her energy/energy blaster. It was a little difficult timing it, will have to add some KB to Cranes kick to make it easier and to allow a little more time.

"Pull!" Cranes kick. Damn..didn't work hang on.."Pull!" Buttons still recharging.."Pull!"

CoT goes flying off roof top.."He dropped too quick." Fun stuff

I admit, in my DP/Energy Blaster's early levels, I was quite excessively fond of knocking enemies down with a punch and then finishing them off with a single shot. Rather suited his thuggish personality. Relied on being close to a wall or something to counteract all the knockback, though.

A while back there were people using power boost + a fully slotted Power Thrust to knock level 1 hellions halfway across Atlas park. That was hilarious. I think the devs made it so that doesn't work anymore, though.

I enjoyed thinking of it as a pseudo-volunteer distressed urban youth space program with a focus on social reintegration through rapid orbital ejection.

Rapid orbital ejection? No no, the Distressed Urban Youth Space Program Act uses language focusing on rehabilitation rather than punishment:
  • The Program prepares participants for re-entry into Paragon City society.

Like Hellion Golf.

Go as far south in Atlas as you can and find a Hellion (Clockwork will do, but there aren't as many) and knock him as far north as you can. If he lands in the pool behind Miss Liberty, it's a hole in one. If he lands anywhere else, you have to go to where the body landed, find the nearest Hellion (or enemy from the same group if you used someone besides a Hellion) and try again.

Atlas Park is a par 4, IMHO. Don't forget to shout "FORE!!!" in broadcast each time.

There are a variety of really fun combo's (throw-back to video games like Killer Instinct, Street Figher, etc that allowed you to "juggle" your target) that I like to see how many attacks I can hit them with by the time they hit the ground or they die from one power but I can animate a few more due to activation times. Claws is good for this too via Shockwave also energy torrent, LBE and the moves in Kinetic Melee. Horrible DPS; Good times
