Oh, really? I though that at lvl 20 all Praetorians had access to everywhere? Didn't realize that changed. My mistake then. I haven't leveled up a Praetorian since before FW came out so I didn't realize that.

It's just going to take time.
Well, it is a little different. We had 3 routes when the Judgement/Interface/Lore/Destiny group came out.
    1) Regular Content to get shards, covert to Threads, then Threads to the needed iXP type.
    2) Run the iTrial to get the iXP you needed (BAF to get Psychic iXP and Lambda to get Physical iXP).
    3) Run the wrong iTrial, and get threads, then convert the threads, for the neeed iXP type.

And you could of course mix and match those three options as much as you liked. Sure, some options are much more efficient than others, nonetheless, there were 3 options available.

For Hybrid, as it now stands, there is only 1. I'm sure there will be others later, but that doesn't do the OP any good at present.

Of course patience, I guess, is an alternate option to the Magisterium iTrial. And lest I be accused of being snarky, that is the option I'm using at present. I'm just running my other alts through DA and the other iTrials (and of course, leveling up yet more alts), and once other avenues open up to get Hybrid, then I'll start to pursue that on my alts that have all the others Incarnate slots already.
  3. If you're 24, freeze your XP, run Stephanie's arc in Striga, get the ring, unfeeze your XP, run the Hanson Brothers arcs till you get to 30. Or, as an alternate after Stephanie, run the Croatoa arcs. The Croatoa arcs unlock the Katie Hannon TF, and the Hanson brothers unlock Ernesto Hess. Always nice to be able to run those TFs. Both routes should get ya to 30 to start Night Ward.

Also briefly describing the crashes could help a great deal. A crash to desktop (program closes with or without an error message) would have different likely causes than, say, crashing the entire system, causing a reboot.
Wow. Hijackthis is still around?! Nice. Makes me all nostalgic. Haven't had a need to use that in a LONG time. Nice to see the old tool still is doing it's thing..

I was unaware that if i used team insp I could in a way loose my money and waste it because the game could DC me. wELL NOT THE GAME BUT THE code or the current incarntion of the game. I dont mean to say that the game itself would cause this. I mean to say that the current bugs allow this to happen or rather creat a place for this occurance.

    i AM NOW HOWEVER AWARE!
I do get that, and I am sympathetic. It is almost always the case of 'live and learn' the hard way. Although, I'd strongly urge folks in a position to do so to give a full lesson in 'Caveat emptor' to every small child as soon as allowances happen. And while this phrase is often interpreted to mean 'beware' of shenanigans on the part of the seller, the truth is, often, that after a transaction, the seller has no more obligations, and really no control whatsoever of what happens after, even if they acted in total good faith. Meaning, that if you lose, break, etc your new item, be it virtual or not, it's on you to eat the lose, even if it isn't your fault, because it might very well not be the fault of the seller either.

Even before the paragon market came along, you were exposed to risk of financal lose before. For example, you pay your $15. Then the next day your internet goes out entirely. Not your fault. Not the games. If it takes your ISP 1 month to get the problem fixed, tehy might reimburse you the cost of that month of internet access, but they won't give you the $15 for you loss of CoH playtime. And CoH almost certainly wouldn't refund it too you either.

Again, it does suck, and I feel for ya, but, sadly, thems the breaks. Be glad it was a relatively small amount lost.
  6. Fire Rad is a lot of fun, too.

Heck, there are way too many good, fun choices..

Of course, since she's all fiery and thermalish, maybe you should go the other way entirely as a counterpoint, and do Ice/Cold or maybe Water/Cold.

Not to mention that is also gives you recharge resistance which comes in handy to combat arachnos -def and -recharge debuffs

Do keep in mind to hit 70s with GC you still have to double stack active defense but that's not too hard to do.

On a side note: Anyone else keep hearing others say "Scrappers can't tank." a lot? It's not that they're saying it about or to me it's just surprising to hear it. I know mine still does just fine esecially when I had a troller ask me to tank the last Solaris mission, which I handled just fine. They were even surprised to see how well I did and complemented me on my build( even though I'm not done yet)
I think you'll find that to hit 70s DDR you'll need to triple stack Active Defense.
Mid's and City of Data both show Grant Cover and Battle Agility at 13.84% DDR each. And Active Defense at 17.3%. That adds up to ~58% with Active Def double stacked. 75ish if you can triple up on Active Def.

As for scrappers not being able to tank, I haven't heard that unless it's in relation to the specific sets that don't have any aura (regen and SR come to mind).

I would say stick with the attack chain you have and ignore Shout. The very slight damage increase isn't really worth it.

With the changes coming to blast sets, that range may be getting increased, but the animation time almost certainly won't be reduced. FWIW

However isn't that not the point(my rant aside) is it not the point that these things that you pay real money for can be wasted and there is no way, not one way as of yet to recompensate for this?
And you quite likely never will see a way to be recompensed for inspirations. It's the single use, disposable nature of them that makes this the case.

It's roughly analogous to buying a bottle of cola at a store. As you are leaving, you get jostled, or bumped in the parking lot, and drop the cola, spilling it everywhere. You likely won't see recompense there either. You got the product, you cracked it open, and got the first big gulp. From there what happens might well be out of your hands, but is also out of theirs.

My suggestions, don't buy products that have that sort of risk, or, accept stoically the fact that it may happen.

And, perhaps still hit the tech section and try to do what you can to minimize that risk. But regardless of what you do, that risk will always be present to some degree with items of that nature.
  10. Short answer... Random is random.

    Less short answer.

If it was tweaked (presumably down, from your post) you'd have heard the screams and shouts far and wide, if it had been announced.

If it was a stealth reduction, nobody likely would have enough data at this point to be able to answer you in any meaningfully helpful way. So if you suspect it isn't just the nature of randomness, you'll need to start diligently collecting data now, and try to enlist others to do the same.

The exploit was that hami-os were affecting things they shouldn't have... Which includes all of the above, and other stuff that hasn't been specifically mentioned.

Edit: Somehow I type 'should' instead of 'shouldn't' originally. Corrected.

  13. Yes, the Hami-Os had been boosting things that the shouldn't have been for a LONG time, but the Devs had said that it was an exploit, and it would likely be fixed when the were able to find a way to do so.

They just finally found the method/time to get that done.

So, your suspicions were spot on.

As a side note, Cytos and Enzymes used to also boost the reverse as well, ie, the def debuff hami would also buff Def powers and vice-versa. That was also part of the same fix.

Edit: Actually, all hami-os used to boost the reverse effect, not just cyto/enzymes. But those 2 were the ones most often leveraged to get some extra defense out of a lot of builds. Shielders and Warshades weren't the only folks dismayed when that change went into effect.

Also, as a different side note, if you don't have it, I'm pretty sure Grant Cover will add some DDR, if you don't have that, and can squeeze it into your build. You didn't specifically mention it, but if you're at 58% DDR, you probably already have it if I recall correctly.
  14. Almost positive that over time the Perf Shifter set of three will be better than the 3 end mods, but it isn't as reliable a stream. The best bet purely based on end recovery (again, averaged over time) for 3 slots over time is Perf Shift Proc, Perf Shift End Mod, Generic End Mod IO.

I don't think any of the arrangements will totally solve your end issues, however.
  15. Madadh

    Best

It really depends on what you want to do, and what your team already has.

Traps, Cold, and Time are all quite beastly, but Rad, Kin, and Dark are equally beastly. Thermal and Sonic are awesome in the iTrials when there is a lot of folks at the def cap, but not so much at the Res cap. Trick Arrow is an all out assault, but can be hard to level as it doesn't bring a ton of survivability tools. Once you get one to 50 and tricked out, tho, it can hold it's own just fine with the rest. Storm is brutal, too and very effective from the moment Freezing Rain becomes available (8 I think). Force Field I'd say is the one obviously lagging, but it's probably the biggest game changer lvl 1-30, and often even 1-45. Um... I guess what I'm saying is, no, there isn't one that is all around better. Just people with preferences, or areas where one shines more than another.

If you have a very specific task, play style, and group make-up in mind, there might be one obvious choice over another, but otherwise, there really isn't.
  16. Only one I have yet to try is Mako. BS I enjoyed least.
  17. I think the Scorp Shield is the way to go.

How dead set are you on the snipe? Since you're right on the line as is, how dead set are you to stay there? I think you give up too much to get there myself.

    Are you specifically avoiding Hasten?

Are you totally sold on Sonic Cage?

Are purple sets in the budget? Or right out? Is the PVP Glad Armour +Def in the budget? Even if these are beyond your means, a Steadfast Res/Def should be able to be worked into the budget. That'll be a net improvement by adding that in anywhere.

Neutrino makes a great proc machine gun, if you can scare up some slots. Even if you can't, I'd slot the 3 Thunderstrike triples there instead of the 3 Nucs. Less acc, but more recovery, more recharge, more end reduction, and it'll bump up the ol' energy def. The numbers I feel are still respectable.

If you can afford 1 Cyto, can you afford a couple more? If so, I'd put them in Scorp Shield, Maneuvers, and in Weave.

I'd drop the Zephyr KB Protection into Flight and a LotG Def in Hover.

Hope some of those suggestions help. I might try and work up an alternate build later on, but no promises.
  18. If your goal is to be out of melee range, I'd let that rule time and storm out. Storm is obviously nowhere near as up close as time is, but you do spend time getting close in to use hurricane, and the PBAoE stun too, I think called Thunder Clap. Both are awesome sets, however, and if you pick them you won't be disappointed, but if you don't take any opportunity you can to rule something out, you might never be able to decide.

Between cold and thermal, I'd go with cold, personally, but if you like the idea of a heal and a very cool rez very much, you could easily flip that.

To set the record strait about storm and single target, though, you're pretty much wrong. It doesn't have any -regen, but other than that, it's VERY ST capable. Stormies tend to be built for a lot of recharge, and thus, if dealing with a single hard target, the strategy is often to keep freezing rain up, and 2 tornadoes. That alone is a lot of -res and damage, depending on slotting. Add in 2 Thunderstorms at once, too, and then your secondary, and you'll be amazed and how much DPS you can push out. With only one single hard target, the T-Storms and Tornadoes all keep picking on the same target. It's a thing of beauty. If it happens to be an AV and thus immune to getting flung about, it's often pretty easy to keep them on the Freezing Rain patch, too.

  20. I get that VEATs and probably the best, and now that Blue mentions it, Warshades are a pretty hard to agrue against, too, but I was specifically looking to avoid the Epic ATs. Done them, and while they are very effective, I just want to try something different. What I enjoy most about this game is trying to find new, novel ways to do things. And even if the new novel way is somewhat less effective, at task X, it almost always tends to end up shining in some way unanticipated.

Even if not, I tend to enjoy the novelty.

That said, ketchs suggestion for Shield/Dark/Soul sounded promising. This is what I've got at a cursory fist attempt. Looks like it has a lot of promise. Certainly not gimped as a melee combatant, quite sturdy, and brings about -30% Dam, 28% tohit debuff (plus the single target melee stuff), +18 Def to all to those nearby, and +11% tohit for those near, too. Wish I could have worked in Assault, too, but don't see how I can effectively, and since Brutes get the small value for assault, it didn't worry about it overmuch.

Opinions? Again, this is a first attempt, so mostly looking for basic impressions, but any specific suggestions are OK, too.

And yeah, it gives up a lot for it's team support focus, but I think it would still solo pretty decently. If not, I can always do a second build for solo play.

  21. The number inside the (parentheses) is the level the slot was taken at. The (A) means it's the automatic slot that comes with taking the power. As for the symbol | , I am pretty sure that's either a pipe just for neatness sake, or it may be the lower case letter 'l' to indicate that that is the 'Level' the slot was added. I'm not sure there, but either way, it's not exactly critical info.

And Krma-ResKB, means its an IO from the Karma Set (which enhances defensive powers) and that it's specifically the global power that doesn't boost a specific attribute of the power itself, but instead grants the global ability to resist KnockBack. Specifically it's Mag 4 KB protection, I believe.

Oh, and welcome back! A lot has happened since 2004, so there will likely be lots of questions come up. It's a lot to try and learn all at once! For the most part, everyone here is quite helpful. Let us know if more come up, and I'm sure somebody will be able to answer most any question that comes up. Cheers!
  22. OK. So, that's sorta what I want... I like VEATs, and they fill the above role quite nicely, but is there another way to do this? I was thinking Def or Corr, with as many melee attacks as I can from Fighting, etc,but that seemed like a gimpy way to go. And, while I love my support sets, I've played most all of them, and don't want to specifically duplicate. Or at least, not right now.

Doms focused on melee might work, but still not exactly what I was shooting for.

So, I started thinking about how I could make a melee AT build more supporty. I was thinking obviously Leadership, to start with. It looks like most all the melee ATs get the same numbers on the leadership toggles. So, no obvious frontrunner there.

Which combo of ATs provide the biggest ally buffs (very few at all) and biggest debuffs/controls? I'm thinking Dark Amour has 2 control auras, and I believe one of them also has -tohit debuff as well. Shield has Grant Cover, as an ally buff. Several ATs have PBAOE KD as soft mitigation, some have AOE stuns or slows, etc. I'd rather focus on buffs and debuffs, more than control, but don't want to dismiss any winning combos out of hand. So which pairing jump out at you all, and which AT does that combo best?

I was looking at staff/shield, and trying to decide between ATs, until the obvious flaw with that plan sunk in.... Then I kicked myself for being thick, and decided I'd see what fun possibilities occurred to you all.
  23. In martial arts, I don't think it's going to make worlds of difference, but on a larger scale, say in an AOE that will always KB or always stun, I'd go with knockdown over KD.

But, in some cases, both have problems where they can be counter-productive. KD turns into KB if you out-level your opponent, and stun, if the duration is very long will cause the enemies to wander out of melee range, so I guess those bear keeping in mind.

I'd lean towards WP, too. I did IO mine out and it ends up fairly beastly.

That said, however, I don't think you can make a wrong choice.

I just find that when 2 fairly evenly matched sets are compared, the one that doesn't have to worry about endurance is the one that's going to get my vote usually.

Edit: Minor caveat to note, my IOed DB/WP, was actually a WP/DB. I don't think that that would make a huge difference however.

    Gotta totally second this.

'Best' is always what fills a need on the team, and that need varies based on team make-up, and the enemies/challenges you face. And, even at the incarnate level, the devs have varied the challenges pretty well, so what's really needed on one isn't as important in the next. So, the best varies from moment to moment based on FotM, and a slew of other factors.

Best bet is to make something that solos well based on your play style, and that also has things to contribute to a team. Build it then so that you enjoy playing it, and you'll be fine.

I generally prefer debuffing orientated sets since debuffs work well solo, and just get better the bigger the team, but that is, again, just a personal preference, and not ideal for all situations. Many situations are out there where a Force Field will trump Dark or Rads tohit debuffs.
