I'd agree with the above if you ever plan to solo.

But, even if not, I'd probably avoid the Leadership pool. In my experience with this combo (granted she's only 45 at present) just locking stuff down, staying on top of all the buffing, healing, and staying on top of the debuffing still puts a mighty strain on the blue bar. Also, at level 50 99% of your teammates won't need that much +tohit. If you *have* to have tactics, slot for end reduction a lot harder.

But, I'd really just lose Leadership, pick up Combat Jumping for some Immobile protection, and Acrobatics for some minor hold protection. And you can use CJ to mule a LotG if nothing else, since +recharge is always nice.
  2. Justice was my original home. At one point I left and tried and enjoyed several other servers, including several of the high-population ones. Don't recall why I left now, but it doesn't matter. I came back, and somehow Justice had become even more awesome. Now I can hardly get away to work on alts I've left everywhere else. Great server. Lots of regular player run content.

Only thing else I can say is, I completely agree with the recommendations to join the 2 Channels others have already mentioned. If you don't, you will miss a lot of what Justice has to offer.

Dang. Been using Mid's for a long time, and never realized this. I've been hand counting that out on every build since I found out about the Rule o 5.

Thanks a lot for the tip!
  4. Here's in Invul/Ice I'm playing right now. She's not quite all done, but pretty close. Close enough to give you a good idea. I built for aggro control and sturdy over damage, though, and while that's my thing, it's far from most people's first choice.

But it should give you a good idea of a starting place at least on that specific combo, and one that's not just an 'in theory, on paper' build...

That having been said, I think I can see the reason for all the new salvage, currencies, etc.. Since each one has a limited use, and can be gained only in certain ways, if you tire of content 'X' and try something else, you'll earn the 'wrong' type of reward, and thus will need to convert it, for a price (in Inf).

I think this is a way to control Inf inflation, as it seems intended to bleed a lot of Inf off from the lvl 50s, without affecting the lvl1-49s, thus acting as a money sink, without having that sink hurt lowbies, chronic alters, or the RP focused.

I'm not saying if I think it'll be effective or not, or if it'll be appreciated, just that I think this may be the motivation behind the appearance of all of the limited-use new 'salvage/cash' types, and the each having a conversion option, most of which require INF in addition.

Don't see the problem. Odds are slim a banner or zombie attack are happening just when you need your Crey, but, if it is, they don't last that long, and you're on a ready made team to take advantage of some zombie killing or banner smashing. Then when it's over, carry on with the crey hunting.

Even at lv 50 and doing end game content, will the equivalent of 2 SOs of acc be enough for those encounters? Equivalent of 2 50 IOs? Just trying to get a rough gauge of how much I should be socketing for. =)
I'd probably not slot beyond 2 SOs of ACC in anything even for the end game stuff. If you're still missing at that point too much (and I'd check your 'last to hit numbers, as sometimes it feels like I'm missing a lot but the thing stays at 95% consistently) I'd consider the +ACC global IO someone else mentioned, even if you stay with a completely SO build otherwise and/or use the Alpha slot to boost your accuracy.

And for the record, if I tell you you have enough acc, you probably do, as most folks tell me I lean toward the too much accuracy end of the pool.

Edit: And yes, if you really want more Acc, you can also easily just go from SOs to generic lvl 50 IOs. Not sure of that's what you were asking, but a lvl 50 generic IO is about 130% of an SO if I recall, more or less, depending on the SOs lvl compared to you.

is lame. We are paying customers. I understand the need for maitenence to be done. I understand that the servers will be down from time to time. But, I do not understand not communicating when its like this 12 hours down no info about what they are doing.

I understand they can do what they want and have to take care of the hardware as they see fit. But some info about what they are doin is nice to have.

Otherwise like today they dont seem to know what they are doin.

They are just doin what they are doin and if we dont like it we can "F" off.

at lease thats how it seems. I have payed them for 5 years now almost 6 and i think they could after all this time figure out that we can handle knowing that the server needs to be replaced or there is a new security update or that they have x,y,or z issues happening. But to take the game down and not inform us what is the issue or what is happeing is just lame at this point.

And another thing why every server. If its a problem on freedom why is virtue down or triumph etc....

    just sayin

May be time to talk to the Doc and have them adjust your mood meds..
  10. Welcome to the game and the forums!

One thing to suggest that I didn't see mentioned before is to find and start using the global channels for the server you're playing one. If you suddenly find you have a question while in game, that's a great place to start. In a lot of cases (a least on the servers I play on) it's also the best way to find teams, too.
  11. I agree with the general consensus if slotting for SO in Invince and Tough Hide. If you use sets, that could vary wildly, though. I use 3 of the Luck of the Gambler in Invince, and 4 in Tough Hide myself, but in both cases the global recharge bonus from that set is one of them (shock, I know).

For Dull Pain, I'd strongly recommend slotting it more aggressively for recharge than for heal, but both of you can swing it. If you use IOs you can quite easily get away with 5 slots only in in.

And I'd agree with poster who suggested earlier that 6 slots in Unstoppable if probably too many, even for SOs. The base resistance values of that power should cap your resistances or all but cap them to everything (except of course psi and toxic). If you're using SOs only, and skipped Resist Energies and Resist Elements, then maybe you'll want a single Res Enhance in Unstoppable, but otherwise....

OK. True. Not what I expected. But, if it wasn't what anyone expected, in a decent way, then, not so good. But, if it's just me, well, mia culpa. I'll get used to it. Or not.

For my comic book games I do generally like to stick to the heroic, or vaguely heroic... Perhaps I do want the same old choices. Perhaps I don't want to choose be-twist horrifying evil, and mortifying evil. Phrased less biased toward my point of view, yes, perhaps a purely morally ambiguous choice is great. But I don't feel that one has been given. And most others don't think so either. Most think the choice is betwixt horribly bad, and irredeemably bad. Or at least that seems to be what I gather from my very unscientific poll.

That has nothing to do with depth and everything to do with the fact that Praetoria isn't actually supposed to be about heroes vs. villains. It's supposed to be about discovering the truth behind the twisted society you live in while aligning yourself with one group or the other which represent its factions. You choose what you'd like to be at the end of the road. And even up to the very end, you can still choose hero or villain regardless of what you did in Praetoria.

Now that part may be shallow...but I bet that most players would be even more ticked off if they found that they couldn't choose between Rogue Isles and Paragon because they decided to explore certain story lines.
No, that part I actually like. I just wish it wasn't as restrictive.. You seem to be saying that you support the 'freedom' aspect of it. I can get behind that. But where is there the freedom to say, "Nope, don't feel like blowing up a bunch of children. Don't feel like doing any of that crap. I'll stick with attacks against adaults, thanks.." Bugger off to both the psychos in charge and the psychos that wish the were in charge... That's how I wish I could play it..

    Quote:
That's fine. Except that there is no real world analog to Praetoria that we can use. Its a society where people are controlled through brainwashing, covert drugging and psychic watchdogs patrolling the streets. I'm pretty sure that 'waking up' folks from that kind of thing would require some kind of jarring shock. And maybe it would have to be the unpleasant kind of shock that makes them question if their benevolent overlord can actually protect them.

In the end though, I suspect that this isn't about morality or lack thereof among the opposing faction leaders. It's just about you whining that you can't play a 'hero'. And again...I don't think Praetoria was ever meant to be about heroes versus villains. Whether that is a good idea or not is something else entirely...but so far, I've only really heard any protests from vocal people on the forums. I suppose a dev poll among players or something like that would help.
Nope, sorry. At least in this case, I believe, based on what little I've heard, that you're pretty wrong. Some of the people that may have some affinity for the resistance are people that just want heroes regardless, but, from what I've seen, most people seem to just want to be able to choose for themselves. So, at least as far as I've heard, the complaint isn't about not being able to be a 'hero', but rather about not having any choice at all. Your choices are villain, villain, villain, or somewhat naive villain.. From what I've heard, that's the complaint.

Ah geez. Sorry, it may be a week before I get the whole html action of the post all sorted out... Do your best in the meanstwhile

Another nice chestnut of his is "Soldiers step in front of civilians, cowards use them as bargaining chips."
I'd quote this whole long thing, but, sadly, I suffer from 'run on' syndrome, and if I added a long post on top of mine, it'd be crazy..

1st) I agree. It's a game. I give it it huge pass, even larger based on the MMO factor. It can't possibly tailor to everyone.. If it was a novel trying to evoke a specific reply, yes, it most likely failed..

2nd) I play Praetoria to a certain point, then my heroic types must go their own way. I just leave when certain storylines start. I can't picture picture a hero acting in some ways. But that's just me..

3rd) Yes, I love the Praetoria world. I do appreciate all the effort the devs put into it. It's beautiful, and has a lot of story behind it, which is a nice change of pace.

4th) It's still sadly shallow. I have tried to pretend it wasn't based on my appreciation as stated above. But, it really is. I've tried every storyline as a hero, and every hero I tried to play as one had to walk away from the whole thing...

5th) I feel I have to weigh in on the issue of morality of Cole vs Scott. Both bankrupt, in my opinion. Argue for losing your money in oil investments or losing it in land speculation, you end up broke either way if you bank on a loser...

I like my own wordplay, but I'll try to make my case better than through analogy..

One of the most used standards of morality if the 'Golden Rule'. Many belief systems acknowledge it, and use it...

Well, if I were being dominated by a tyrant psychologically, I would want someone to do something...
But, if their idea was to wake me up by killing my neighbor, I'd be less thrilled with their idea.
If it was to wake me by killing a family member, I'd be even less sympathetic.
If it was to wake me by killing me, well, I'd consider their robbery of my choice in my life to be a far grander theft than the hypothetical tyrants..

We all, I think, hate a hypothetical tyrant. But, if such a tyrant is so powerful as to be unassailable, then killing the people that work for him that you hope to free isn't the most moral action. If your motive is power, then killing his powerbase is wise, but if your motive if right action, then killing his innocent pawns isn't a justifiable position..

Any tyrant or regime can only hold power while the people will it so. If all the people decide not to follow, then the regime is over... And, regimes only last so long.. If you really want to see people gain freedom, perhaps patience might be the best strategy.

Ghandi or Jesus or the Stoics are good examples of winning without even fighting. OF course, they make pretty crappy video games.. Which is why I'm ok, but not all that thrilled, with the games current direction..

Nope. I'm right there with ya.

I agree with this opinion, but some people might think a sets of twins could be unique enough that the concept uniqueness outweighs the want for some individual uniqueness.

That aside, tho, even if you had 2 Emp/Sons, their builds could end up fairly different.

    As a thought, how about a Emp/Son Def and a Sonic/Pain Cor?
  18. Thanks for bringing that to our attention. I've not had the time to play with the new stuff, and would have missed any chance to give my $.02 worth.

I think I can safely say that this change would affect me on many of my alts, not just my defs.

(And, as one of my many alts is a Plant/Storm, all I can say is, "You really should. You'll love it!")

    Edit
*ah I see it is -3.5% per TARGET. Duh. lol So ya...not really worth slotting for that I guess. I was kinda thinking it was -to hit = +def. You know like 10 targets would make it -35% to hit, or adding +35% defence type thing. How wrong I was. @_@*
If only it was like that, my very strong WPs (all of them) would instantly enter godhood.. And that is probably why (in general, not me specifically) it is that way, and won't ever change..
  21. My troller has [Siphon Power] and thus enhanced I think [Brawl] has to be the hands down winner.. Totally vicious. Then again I have it 6 slotted for damage.

  22. So far I quite like it paired with Elec myself. A recharge bonus (from Lightning Reflexes) to start with means you have Power Siphon up that much more often. And the two seem thematically to fit fairly well together as well as both are types of energy.

I play a lot of Stormies, but most as Defs and Trollers, so, this may not be 100% applicable, but...

    I slot for
    1a) Defense
    1b) Recharge

    Shock there...

    2) Damage

    Feedback....

Love the idea of stacking stuns. I have stacked 2 AOE stuns and loved it, 3 may be overkill, but I honestly think it'll be awesome.. With all that stun, and all the other stuff the sets have, and a 1/2way decent def, I wouldn't worry overmuch about aggro, unless you wanna run x8 and crank the lvl dif up.

Totally agree with a previous poster. Squeeze hurricane in, eve if you have to slot it with only 1 end reduction.. It's that good it's even worth it out of the box once you get used to it.

Disagree with a previous poster about O2 and it's disposability. Unless you plan to never team, I'd want this power. Heal and Mez breaker and mez resist in one power. Granted, not the most damage, or not good vs every mez type, but always well worth it in my opinion. I've respecced many times on my stormies, and never dropped the power, only on occasion dropped the number of slots I dedicated to it.

Otherwise, totally agree with Obscure Blade, especially on the slotting for Freezing Rain. You want it up as often as possible. By all means put the -res proc in there, too tho. Maybe add a damage proc.
  25. but a long time Defender fan. Recently jumped into Corrs with both feet (ie; I made several alts, as I'm an altaholic).

But, the question I want to ask isn't specific to a single powerset combo, but more to those that play both defs and corrs..

If you play Defs really offensively (Offenders) how much should you expect your playstyle to alter when transitioning to Corrs? And I'm speaking in general terms, assuming similar powersets. If I went from Rad/Dark to Dark/Rad for example (which isn't really a pairing I plan to try, was just a handy example) wpould I need to change much?

If there are changes one should expect, can you all Corr experts give some general advice to an assault Def type that's finally trying to join your ranks?
