Howdy Folks,

I would advise everyone to check out the new team UI that is currently on display during the BAF test session this weekend. If you ever monitor your team's health or have your team window open, the new look is VERY different. As part of adding in the League system they have completely reworked the team window.

I figure we're probably the AT that will be most affected by this change, so I would advise folks to go look and make your voices heard in this thread, so the devs can have feedback all in one place. I was not a fan of the new UI, but your results may vary.

The team UI was fine before and there weren't any complaints, so I don't get why they made this change. Anyone know? Did they try to make the UI look more similar to that of the "other game"?

I think it's hard to get a sense for how hard or easy it is to track health bars without actually playing though.

I think the issue is that under the new league system, when you have 48 players, our old team window can get bulky. As a result I think that they tried to streamline it but at the cost of utility, in my opinion.

That is one atrocious looking team window. The new colors used for the health/endurance bars are downright ugly and tacky, it doesn't even seem to fit with the rest of the UI.

Do people who design this stuff even have eyes ? I can't fathom who thought this was a good idea over the old UI we currently have.

So, the health monitor window is labeled pets?

Further proof that the team is just the defender's minions! Granted, some of them have worse AI than MM pets...

Yeah, that looks even more clunky to me. Though in all honesty it would really only affect my Empathy toons. Having the Alignment and AT types covering the health is the only realy problem I see though.

I actually got so used to looking at health bars it benefited all my toons. My tanker for example uses taunt selectively to get mobs off of softies in trouble, and one of the easiest ways to find softies in trouble is through the team UI. Same with my Brute.

Heck, even my Blaster saves other people from time to time by looking at the team UI and destroying/KB'ing whatever is on the low health softies. Though admittedly I'm often the one that needs looking after.

The problems with it I see are really three fold (although it appears to have grown to 4), and are outlined in this post. In the interest of keeping feedback in one place, I'll just summarize here:
1) Icons over names make health hard to see.
2) Names over health makes healthbars hard to see, especially when they're moving. It's not so bad in a static shot, but otherwise it can be like trying to spot a deer running through the trees.
3) as players take damage the health bar goes dark red. Not so bad as this screenshot was taken during the day, but in dark rooms or at night, the dark red is hard to see.
4) Because of the team icon the health bars are actually longer than they appear. Note in the screenshot it looks like I have a fair amount of health left in the team window but I'm actually almost dead.

No the new health bars appear to be for all teams. The screenshot I posted was while on a standard team, not in a league.

I know this is a joke, but just to clarify, that is the same pets button that is currently at the top of the team window, although the pets window is now formatted like the new team window as well. Also in the screenshot the team window has been set to 2 times it's default size because the default is very tiny.

We're hoping it's "feature seep"...they made the league window like that and for some reason it changed the team and pet windows too.

That's the pet button to open the pet window, like Enhancements on your tray or Friends on your chat window...

Really, the new window is quite awful. Player names block the health meter, AT icons get cut off, AT icons go grayscale instead of changing to a skull when a teammate dies, and most distressing of all, the health bar becomes more transparent when the target is low on health. I see a black bar, is that player dead or desperately in need of heals? No way to know except by targeting them and looking in the Target window for a health bar you CAN read.

I'd heavily encourage all players to give feedback about the window.

You can't see icon buffs for the whole league. Trust me, you probably don't want to.

I completely understand the why, but it sucks that the big bubbles will only effect your direct team.

Okay, the new team/league window needs work. Lots of it.

Currently I run at 1920x1080 and have my UI set to minimum.
Everything else it quite readable for me. But the team/league window with only one team is the size of a postage stamp and COMPLETELY unreadable and teammates are damn-near unclickable.

Yes, I could undock it and specifically rescale that window. But why? Seriously. The original size of the team window was perfectly fine at minimum UI size. Sure, it's going to resize a bunch with leagues. So what? This is why I'm playing at such a huge resolution. Screen Real Estate. I have most of my windows pushed to the far edges of the screen and keep all my stuff docked to their parent windows as tabs. Can't stand the clutter.

If the league window REALLY needs to be undocked, I can live with it. But it still needs to be of a usable resolution that isn't completely independent of the rest of the UI. And for the basic team tab needs to be reverted. to a usable size.

You mean like dispersion bubble? It affects everyone in the area up to 255 targets, just like on live.

Maybe I misread it, but I could of swore it said that team buff powers will only effect your team mates and not the entire league. If it's not the case, I have the feeling my Archery/Sonic Corruptor, Traps/Psi and FF/Archery Defenders, and my Mind/FF Controller will be very popular on the new trials.

I didn't see the pets radio button when I made my joke, I was too busy being distracted by the other stuff in the image.

But yeah, I wouldn't mind keeping the current team window and only having this for leagues. Bit annoying, especially after being used to this one for so long.

During a couple of BAF runs I tried using the League list to select my team for buffs. I found there were problems selecting a team member using key settings. I have F1 through F8 set to select team member 1 through 8 respectively. The team members on my League Team list didn't always correspond to the team member numbered slot. Hopefully that is fixed before the issue is published.

Thanks for bringing that to our attention. I've not had the time to play with the new stuff, and would have missed any chance to give my $.02 worth.

I think I can safely say that this change would affect me on many of my alts, not just my defs.

Dispersion Bubble isn't a team buff, it's a PBAoE buff.

Maneuvers and the like are team buffs.


Is there a list of which buffs are Team versus which are PBAoE somewhere? That would sure be helpful cause it can be pretty hard telling them apart.

I really do not like the icons and text overlapping the health and endurance bars. That's a terrible, terrible design.

Edit: And the health/end colours are too dark. And now that I look at it again, the buttons above and below the League (I think?) window are cryptic. I cannot tell at a glance what they even do. They NEED text labels.
