  1. While the difference between Brute and Tanker survivability on paper is debatable, what isn't debatable (well it is, everything is, but not intelligently) is that in practice, an equally skilled tank and brute will be doing different things. A Tanker's primary goal will be tanking. A Brute's primary goal will be melee DPS. Therefore, a Tank is a better tank than a Brute.
  2. Do have to wonder if its a good idea to spread the pets around so much. But, then, anyone who has played TA on an MM knows that without some buffs they don't last long. I mean, Ninjas without buffs can be killed by a particularly buff gnat, but Ninjas with /Time buffs (and debuffs) can take on hordes of enemies without getting hit at all.

    Melee/support would be awesome.

The Dynamic Duo sounds really interesting.

    As does Manipulator.

With the obvious red headed step child, /energy, whom actually has utilities. They must be abilities that don't really work with the fast, all or nothing burst damage theme because they're thrown together, unmodified, versions of other sets. There's no "Hang in the air for a three second animation next to a boss that can 1 shot me" like Total Focus or the aggro EVERYTHING for some small DoT like Hot Feet.

Yes. I love Martial Arts. Martial Arts is amazing. It's what all other secondaries should be. And that's the problem. If it doesn't suck, it's going over shadow the other secondaries.
You know, since we're trying to buff Blasters in this issue, nerfing them strikes me as a bad idea.

Rather than say MC is too powerful, look at the other secondaries. Too powerful compared to what, those suckish things? No, this is not too powerful. This should be the new standard that we slowly gear all secondaries towards.

Oh, and if anyone tries to remove Ki Push in beta and replace it with web grenade I will gut them like a fish.

  4. I didn't say to make its armor an exact copy of a Crab, did I? I said to make it equal to a Scrapper. I was using the Crab as proof that a tankmage wouldn't break the game.

Full defense set? SR is the only one with sizable amounts, if I recall correctly. And almost none of the resistance sets have it. Which are also armor sets, and therefore were included in my statement. As for no god mode, that also means no god mode crash. Can just use the inspirations that a dropping like candy.

I'd have to say 1, then. But with the exact same defense values as a Scrapper. And not too close to blaster damage, don't need more things encroaching on their territory.
  5. Nope. Because I said Scrapper level defenses, not below Scrapper level defenses. And about midway between corruptor and blaster is not the same thing as almost blaster.

Crabs are some of the easier things to soft cap while still have a ludicrous amount of health, resistance, and mez protection. The lack of a damage aura is more than made up for by the various pets and stronger attacks. DDR is a rarity even in full defense sets. Oh, and Crabs share much of their defense with the entire team in one of the best toggles in the game.

Have to agree. Electic is much, much easier. But DA has a much higher payoff if you're willing to put in the time in effort. I mean, DA has that whole "If you can't kill me in the the time it takes Dark Regeneration to recharge, you can't kill me" thing going for it. And with a good amount of recharge Dark Regen will be coming back in less than 15 seconds.

Have they fixed the AI problem that kept the Knights from going to Melee range yet?
Sort of, but now ranged pets like punching things in the face.

Most threads end up with me replying to one person and then having to reply to several other people. For me it always could look like I upset some forum clique although that's not necessarily the case. Time allows me to reply or care. If I see a wall of text I won't care.
So when multiple people and/or people with large posts reply you don't read them?

    That... explains an awful lot.
  10. Dark Armor. Yes, its endurance heavy, but it is so worth it. Dark Regeneration is the best heal in the game, and you have a smidgen of defense to start with, and stack Defensive Sweep with. Not to mention great resists, including ludicrously high resistance to psionic. Not to mention all the extra mitigation from the mez toggles.

If you can get your hands on a Theft of Essence (chance for +end) you can average a 20% end gain from ten targets, basically making Dark Regeneration free.

The blue bar will be an enemy to beat, but if you do the rewards will be astronomical.
  11. Yes, Titan Weapons definitely needs and scythe and I've no clue why it doesn't yet.
  12. None of the above. Between Corruptor and Blaster level damage and scrapper level defenses and health. And actual blast sets, not assault.

Crabs have more than that and they haven't destroyed the game yet.

and frankly revamp special ops entirely, they are a mess in every single way.

Edit : sorry about the delays in responding, Gmail keeps flagging my thread subscriptions as Spam.
Fixing pet AI would not give a direct damage boost, and as I said I would be against it if it meant taking away some DPS that we already have.

MMs as a whole don't need buffs, they need fixes. Fixes to the AI. This should not result in a rebalancing of damage because it is a bug, not a balance feature.

Granted, a couple of sets (Ninjas and mercs, MAYBE beast and necro) do need balance passes. I outlined what I'd do to them early in this thread.

As the nunchucks grow more awesome they grow more likely to kill the user. With nunchucks, you'll get some bruises. With sword-chucks, you'll get some nasty cuts. With chainsaw-chucks, you'll be lucky to have any limbs left.

But defense lets you dodge Mezzes. And debuffs.

Yes they will. The powers, at least, I don't know about the pets. Probably.
  18. What was the deal, exactly?
  19. Soft cap defense is better than hard capped resistance even on a tanker, and with everything else its no contest. With soft cap defense you are taking about 5% of incoming damage, while (on a tank) you're taking 10% damage with hard capped resistance. The difference only gets bigger from there.

However, if you have SR/EA or something else that lets you soft cap defense with little to no IO investment, then going for resistance would be more beneficial.

So I'd say most of the time its still better to chase defense, but on rare occasions the resistance could be useful.

Eclipse is the best Warshade armor and you can use it while in Nova, after having already doubled up on Mires and capped your damage.

  23. Fine then, we play as the Avatar of Hamidon and beat people up.
  24. Hopefully the personal story will be Hamidon himself, before he became the god-cell we know him today. When he was a scientist. That'd be really interesting.

    Tanks vs Brutes

Well Scrappers have no need to chase Fury, and they start the fight with much more damage.
