I can verify that I didn't get the costume tokens on my newer characters, and they DID break a LOT of costumes (most heads are apparently broken).

That would be a new way of doing things. There is a developed, stable, and tested script that apparently wasn't run when they patched to Issue 21. It checked each character for how many costume slots it had open then gave that many tokens to the character.
I have some characters that are approaching having 100 unused costume change tokens so I'm relatively well aware of how the game has been delivering these tokens up until now.

Again all I'm saying is that since the Devs made the fairly large effort to give us this new fancy system for getting character/account awards via in-game mail that it was at least a REASONABLE suspicion that the delivery of freebie costume tokens may now also use this same system REGARDLESS of the pre-existing method.

Once again I'll make the point (based on simple engineering maintenance principles) that it'd be pretty silly for anything to be left outside the umbrella of the email method. What advantage would the Devs have by maintaining two or more legacy methods to deliver these kinds of rewards? Why bother with the email system if they didn't plan to use it for everything?

Frankly is seems silly to me that the Devs would not use the new email system for -everything- like this now.
Why develop a new reward delivery system and not use it for everything?
  3. It's weird to think RMTers using the Help channel is a -new- thing.
I would've thought that would've been an obvious place for them to be spamming all along. *shrugs*

I know they at least -used- to just give them to us like you said. All I'm suggesting, because I don't know for sure, is that now that we have the email-based system for getting awards they could have switched it so that the freebie ones we're talking about come via that method now too.
  5. Maybe there -was- a problem that got fixed between then and now.

These SSA's are only "Task Forces" in the same way the original Ouroboros TFs were technically Task Forces.
Basically that means they were more or less designed as closed arcs for either team or solo play.

As they've done in the past. The Vet Reward one, and the ones they and out are different.
I honestly didn't really pay attention to them this time around because most of my characters are sitting on dozens of unused tokens but it's possible that the "free non-Vet" ones are now being given to us via the new email system just like the Paragon Reward ones are. Would make sense for them to use the same system for all of them now. *shrugs*
  8. Check your in-game email for either the account rewards or characters rewards.
Pretty sure your tokens will be claimable from there.

    Badge Count

Everything varies of course but I'd say the current indicator between a person who is actively collecting badges and someone who is otherwise just a long time player of the game is probably in the 250-300 badge count range at this point. It think once you get past say 500 there's no question the person is a dedicated badger.

As a badger myself I respect anyone who enjoys that part of the game, even if you're in it just to farm for the Accolade powers. But I guess I would personally reserve the term "hardcore" badger for anyone who has many of the obviously harder badges to get such as the Master/Incarnate Trial badges and/or people who have say at least 1,000 badges or more. Let's just say it takes a lot to impress me about another person's badges.

Yeah the "scale" of the overall operation did seem a little strange to me too. One would think that long before "civilian families" would be sent to colonize Terra Nova the government behind the 2149 portal would have established a huge vanguard of military leadership there. The idea that it's apparently just Commander Taylor and a few dozen soldiers running the whole show seems weird. If we are to believe that Terra Nova represents Earth's last chance for survival the Powers That Be would not risk the operation to a single dude and a squad of soldiers. *shrugs*

Like I said before if I really wanted to I could probably totally shred the show with a series of reasonable criticisms like this. I've already decided I'll give it a few more episodes (because I think the story behind Commander Taylor may actually turn out to be cool) but it's definitely skating on thin ice for me.

I think Stephen Lang is another example of Hollywood's trend towards "mature action stars" that's pretty appealing to the aging baby-boomer generation. As time goes on it's great to see these older guys still able to do the ruggedly charismatic manly-man stuff that you usually only see younger guys do. As I said before he's pretty much the only thing keeping me interested in this show for multiple reasons.

That's an awesome story. Almost makes me wish I was standing there to see that go down. It'd be funny to take that character of yours to Virtue's Pocket D to have fun with some of people RPing there, but ironically that'd probably be considered griefing on -your- part.
  13. IIRC we've been told by a Redname that character creation timestamps aren't saved in our character records. If that's true then even if they added them for new characters we'd never have that information for currently existing characters.

As far as character anniversaries go that would obviously hinge on what I just said about the creation timestamps. But as far as your idea for "character birthday badges" goes those would have made a lot more sense to me than the account based anniversaries. I've never liked the whole idea of in-game characters getting badges to celebrate the anniversary of a real world MMO. That just seems way too meta-gamey for me. Why would Captain Amazing, who fights crime in Paragon City, have any connection to game that exists in OUR world much less get badges for it?

So while we'll probably never get birthday badges I would have actually preferred them INSTEAD of account-based anniversary badges. *shrugs*

Well there's the simpler point that it's highly questionable whether we could create anything that could survive intact for 85 million years, even with hypothetically advanced "magical" technology from 2149. About the best chance for something like this is if the "probe" was actually just a solid blob of some kind of highly unique radioactive isotope that could be detected from extreme distances. There's pretty much no chance it could survive in the form of a functional recording device in the traditional sense.

Turns out just about every Sci-Fi story has at least some elements that don't "work" in reality if you over-analyze them too much. This is one of those problems for this show.

Of course the super-simple explanation for the probe might be that the whole story about them being 85 million years in the past is a complete lie and that in reality all the Terra Novans are just plugged into the 2149 version of the Matrix as an ultimate means of population control.

I never claimed that this show wasn't going to ultimately use some kind of rehashed plot device did I?
  16. I think it would be very interesting if Terra Nova ends up following the Praetorian model from our very own Going Rogue.

Think about it: Nathaniel Taylor could easily be revealed as a more hardline Emperor Cole like figure as time goes on. Sure he seems completely dedicated to his happy-happy-joy-joy "vision" of making Terra Nova succeed. But when push comes to shove he may become more dictatorial and unyielding with his people, thus showing a darker side. The Sixers already exist as a de-facto Resistance, and while they seem like the "bad guys" at this point they may well turn out to be the actual "good guys" in the overall story. And do I have to mention the obvious that the Terra Nova setting represents Praetoria while the old 2149 Earth represents "primal" Earth?

But regardless of that speculation I did find it rather weird that we still don't really know anything about the state of the Earth in 2149 other than they have population control laws and that it's hard to breath without a mask. It seems like the "mystery" behind Terra Nova involves what's going on back in 2149 as much as what's going on between the main settlers and the Sixers.

  19. I have to think after so many decades that these two stubborn guys don't really hate each other as much as gotten into a habit of trolling each other because they unconsciously know it gives the fans something to chatter about. Sure they may never be bestest buddies in real life (whatever that is for them) but I figure their "professional rivalry" is mostly just a reflection of the ongoing pop culture phenomenon that is Star Trek. Just like Shatner doesn't take himself too seriously anymore I don't really take this supposed "feud" too seriously either.
  20. We finally watched the pilot last night on TiVo. It took me a few hours after that to stop unconsciously muttering in disbelief and shaking my head over just how groan-tastic most of it was. Like Father Xmas said it's like they marched out every overused TV trope you could think of and threw it against the wall to see what would stick. I can't say that I was exactly bored by it, but at the same time I couldn't get past how annoyingly shallow and trite most of it was.

About the only saving grace was Stephen Lang as Commander Taylor, but I'm not sure if he alone can carry the rest of the dead weight on the show. His character and the mystery involving his son and the waterfall etchings is probably just about the only thing that might make me want to watch a few more episodes to see where that plotline goes. Might just end up resorting to fast-forwarding through any part of the show he's not on the screen from now on. *shrugs*

Bottomline it was a very lackluster start to a heavily over-hyped network show. If it doesn't get incredibly better in the next few episodes its going to get dropped like a sack of rotten dinosaur eggs.

Historically, zweihanders and flamberges are a great allegory for the concept.

I'm looking forward to seeing this weapon set in action - I obviously have a concept waiting in the wings
There was a real life warrior/pirate named Pier Gerlofs Donia who supposedly was beefy enough to be able to wield a 7 foot long greatsword that weighed almost 15 pounds. As the story goes he could decapitate multiple people with a single swing.

Obviously that's probably close to the limit of what a real life Titan Weapon could do. Anything more than that is squarely in the realm of comic books and anime.

I know the costume save/load feature is not perfect but why couldn't you use the specific reset buttons to "undo" any scale or face changes that happen when you try to load a new costume over an existing one? I've moved/copied many costumes to different slots and I found I can do almost anything like what you're talking about without having to resort to manually editing the .costume files.

I'm not saying your suggestions are bad. I'm just saying there may be easier ways to work around the limitations of the system.

There was a huge amount of whining and moaning about the cost of those costume slots over the last few weeks. It's really not -that- surprising that they would lower the price on those things this quick. On the other hand I'm sure there are plenty of people who will still consider them to be too expensive even with this reduction.
