Quote:Well and the fact that you have to retoggle after switching to a form and back. And a personal pet peeve of mine, the longish animation times to transform.I know you didn't. They USED to have various penalties when introduced (I3.) They USED to not have their inherent stay through form changes. Voids and Quantums USED to be a threat instead of "Hey, look, more XP for me!" People remember that, unfortunately. Now, the only issue they have, really, is slot crunch as a multiform - and that's offset by IOs and frankenslotting.

Quote:And what do you say to the people that make alts instead of lvling to 50, but have been playing the game for years? Suck it up?Getting to lvl 50 was too hard? Grant it it took me a while only because I can't stop making alts, but how is 50 in any way hard? You still get people who know very little about the game get to level 50 and don't know what their doing.
That's if the Incarnate system is still like that. I don't really know anything about it atm, is it still going to have Incarnate powers or is it just a new form of enhancements or what?
What is your fixation on ATs restricted by level? The devs have already admitted that they made a mistake setting up the 'epic' ATs that way. You need something more substantial then "It was easy for me to hit 50 so it should be fine for everyone else" to warrant that If they make another AT they should restrict it in the same way.
And your second question is something for another thread. -
Quote:Why would you need to do that? What good would it add to the community and to the general progression of the game? When you add roadblocks, you need a sound reason that you NEED to limit that particular part of the game.when I said I wasn't convinced i meant that they were the epitome of their origin. That's all. I know what kheldians are and their story. I was just trying to say that maybe the unlockables should be the epitome of their origin. Here's a new idea too. You need lvl 50 with that origin to get that unlockable? Something? I dunno.
Also your Death Knight comparison is flawed, the reason so many people played them or PLed to get them was because they started out at lvl 55 with epic gear compared to everything in that level range. Epic ATs start at level one like everyone else, there is no advantage to rolling one instead of playing the character that unlocked them. -
Quote:Uh PBs are natural, because they are aliens living inside humans in a symbiotic relationship. Its natural because that is the the nature of those beings. (hint, Superman is a natural alien)Kheldians I'm a little less... convinced. They're natural and scientific which somewhat doesn't make sense but does. They seem to be lacking in some areas.
WSs are science because they started out as nictus that were implanted into humans but had a change of heart and abandoned their fellow parasitic nictus kind to live togther with their hosts like PBs do. But they started out being force ably implanted into hosts. Which falls into the science origin. -

Quote:Complaints about how 'slow' KM is even tho it isn't probably make the devs think, "Why bother making a nice looking set?" It seems some people just want a basic melee set that has better damage numbers then the ones before it and the damage must be immediate!Yeah, it's almost comical. I asked my friend why he picked stone melee and didn't try out kinetic melee for a brute he was taking to 20 then abandoning, and he told me he couldn't handle kinetic melee's long animations....
What? Really?
Until the same people start complaining about how said Set is boring to look at. -
No, he is just saying in a very roundabout way that the KM animations are slow, when that has been debunked seemingly a million times so far that they are perfectly average compared to most melee sets. But of course as he says feeling > numbers, or more importantly, feeling > reality.

Quote:I find it hilarious that he has written off both games (CO and STO) as mistakes, like they occurred years ago, and not just in the last year. (CO's first year anniversary is in 4 days ;P)Thanks that was a great read, lovely to see him dig such a hole for himself. I just wish he would shut the hell up about CoH, associating this with Cryptic is bad for business. I like how he has already written off both their other games. To see CoH still be so successful must be so infuriating for him.

Read what Castle wrote, its on his to-do list of things to fix.

Quote:Like using Hami-Os in order to fill out Shields DDR? :PI still don't buy the "oh no you have to blow a slot or two on KB protect" argument. You don't have to blow an entire power pick for /FA's status protection, either, so no useless slots that just have -end in them wasted there, plus you get all sorts of options. You don't need ridiculously expensive +end/recov IO's as much with /FA due to Consume, you get TONS of AOE damage from Blazing Aura and Burn (and most people are crazy about AOE in COH), etc.
Sorry guys, a couple of enhancement slots are really not that huge of a burden. Every set has slots you HAVE to spend a certain way (+Recharge on /SD's status protect, etc). Oh nos, the huge manatee... -
Quote:And at least they add enough to the packs to warrant the price at least IMO.Microtransactions are money makers. It's that simple. Can't begrudge a business for being in business.
Unlike some other games that make you buy everyone individually at a massively inflated price while forcing you to their 'point' system. (Which also tends to overflow and you end up with extra points you cant spend on anything >.>) *cough cough* Not naming any names. -

People that are asking about why shield scrappers can pull off of them is that AAO has a tank level taunt. So added to scrappers damage, and they can easily grab aggro from tanker with just a taunt aura and moderate damage.

Quote:Especially considering his strongest debuff comes from an always on Aura?...YeahGood grief, I wasn't going to launch into a "diatribe" about the right way to do things. I wasn't even saying to the other guy that slotting the Servant for healing is wrong. Just that IMO slotting him for -tohit is more effective.
You're right, the uncertainty about the Servant not knowing when to heal also applies to him not knowing how/where to best apply his tohit debuffs.
What the deciding factor for me is that he only has one power which he will use chaotically, whereas almost all his other powers which he also uses chaotically do -tohit. For that reason, I feel it's more effective to slot him for -tohit. That way, he's well slotted for something you can rely on him to do, which is not the case slotting him for healing. -
Im not really on either side of this debate over /Shields and etc, but I just hope that all of these recent changes convince the Devs to revamp the respec system to better cope for these type of changes. >.>

Considering that slotting end redux lowers the cost of ALL of their attacks, i dont forsee the devs lowing any costs for any pets.
In other words, slot end redux and you shouldnt have any problems. -
Quote:And if all else fails, you can just run TFs/SFs and/or Hami Raids (if your server does them reguarly) to get merits and then buy and/or craft and then sell an expensive IO. I know some people have made their first Billion that way, its slow, but its just from playing the game.Even the least optimal 50 can generate 2M/hour at 50 just playing missions. A fire/shield with a mixture of SOs and IOs can probably do a lot better than that. You'd probably have enough by playing around 30-40 hours at level 50. One decent purple recipe could probably fund the entire build.
If you look at the build carefully, you'll note that many of the IOs I use (recipe wise) can be bought for absurdly low prices - 1k or less. Crafting them and the salvage actually may account for the bulk of the cost.
The prices I quote are taking into account current in game inflation. Back in the day, this build would probably be a lot cheaper - maybe 15M total. However, people have discovered the value of even "worthless" IOs and the price of some of these have increased.
I won't even mention options like farming and playing the market because really they're just more efficient methods to the same ends. The low end build assumes that you won't be doing either of these and are mostly casual player oriented. -
And if you have to slot, its good to put the smashing damage proc from one of the slow sets for the Demon Prince (if mids is correct) since most of his attacks have slows, it would constantly proc.

+HP bonuses are good for tankerminds since due to how BG mode interacts with your total health.

Smurphy ITFs, end of story :P

You can't get the reasoning behind why a 20slot and a 3-slot defense bonus that was worth more defense or equal to 6-slot defense bonuses that could be easily stacked was a problem?
