  1. Dig that! Just logging in and standing around Atlas Park with a picket sign or torches isn't the way to go.

Scheduled rallies aside, go out and fight crime... or commit them, if you're on the villain side.

THere is however a VERY IMPORTANT THING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR STARTING GAME EXPERIENCE IN CO.

(And yes - it's important enough to "yell" in all caps to draw your attention)

The character creation engine is intentionally HOBBLED on your first character into and through the tutorial. The VAST MAJORITY of the costume choices available are locked down and menued in the way that you describe.

My advice, should you want to try again:

DON'T try and recreate one of your characters from COH first thing out of the gate in CO. Instead, choose one of the ATs they give you and stick with the costume they give you and run that character through the tutorial.

When you exit (level 6-7 likely) STOP THE GAME. Shut it down. REBOOT IT.

Come back, DELETE your test character, and start again, and the options will have been unlocked for you except for the pieces they've put behind pay and unlock walls, which still means that the character creator is opened up by an order of magnitude and is much more open to use.

It wasn't like this at launch. I HATE this change for CO because it is doing EXACTLY this sort of thing to new players - making them not want to play the game.

The game is MUCH better than your initial experience. Take my advice, try it again. Then make your decision.

And know that I still agree with you that it is not a replacement for City of Heroes. Nothing ever will be. But if all else fails and the worst happens. It's probably the best option we'll have available. That's why I'm working to try and help people make these transitions when this subject comes up.

    I hope this helps you.
I'll give CO another go if and when the CoH servers are dead and buried.

    Thank you.
  3. 83.5% voting to save CoH compared to 16.5% when I cast my vote.

Only time will tell if what we're doing will save the game, AND the devs jobs, or not.
  4. My yearly sub is set to rebill on Mar 15, 2013. We'll see if I get my 400 PPs on the 16th...

I feel you JJ. Most the people last night were talking on the channel specific to the Rally... sadly, others were using Broadcast.

I joined the scheduled rally, and will do so again, when another is organized. But the rest of the time I'm on I'm playing... and ignoring chat (unless I'm on a team.)

Servers aren't THAT expensive. Is NCSoft that cash strapped? If so, why aren't they trying to SELL CoH?
  7. Forget about disputing the charges on your credit card if they are from months ago. I doubt that would work.

But if all of us who did yearly subscription joined together in a class action law suit? Could we, all players of the game, join in on that, just for them shutting down a game and not looking at other avenues of keeping it going? Any lawyers in the house?

Thanks for mentioning that. Just edited my blog... used rally in the title, but protest in the body. That is now fixed.
  9. Virtue - Atlas Park 22 about 40 minutes before the official start of the Rally.

  10. Are you kidding? I signed in at 10AM ET and there were people already gathering... and 4 instances of AP.

    Great job, Leandro!
  11. Anyone know if they are allowing new free accounts to be created?

You'd have to create a new toon, Mournbit, but that would seem to be your best bet.

What does a list of names 15k names (some are probably doubles or unlegitimate, yet to be proven) mean to a Korean internet company? The millionaire man who owns the company shut it down for a reason, a list of names won't mean anything to him.

Only way to save it will be someone to buy the game, license, patent, entire-company off NC Soft.

Not trying to dissuade your hope but if you do wish to save this game, you must think bigger and not like an American who collects names.
    1) just looked through 100 names... didn't see any "obvious fakes" as you suggest. Doesn't mean that some of them aren't... but that happens on internet petitions all the time.

    2) the Korean big wig might not care, but other investors might, and that potential buyer would be included in that. No reason NOT to sign the petition. At that point, even the "fake" signs count as people willing to risk such actions in desperate times. Would you be willing to buy a CoH if no one signed the petition? (And had the money to invest in it, of course.)
  13. I did up a cat (Kzinti Tigress - who is a kick *** stalker) and a wolf-man (Grey Wolf Max).

    Two out of 50+ toon?

    Think that disqualifies me.

Buy it. Trust me. I will be very surprised if you can find a single developer of this game who has not owned it at one point or another. While I abhor the whole idea of Metacritic (actually, it's the power it holds with investors that I abhor) there's a reason it has a Metacritic score of 90/100.
Only problem I have with Freedom Force is you can't design your own toon. Hero X allowed you to do so, though with limited options. I bought Hero X when it came out, and was generally disappointed, even back then. Seems to be available for free at:

    http://www.theisozone.com/downloads/...es/hero-x-usa/
  15. I really only just started to team with other players when the bomb dropped... so, yeah, I'd buy a stand alone version. Even if it was stripped down so to the point that there were simple random generated missions.
  16. I think the big mistake in the Free, Premium, and VIP is that the Premium level should never have been what it is. The idea behind Premium was to draw back players that left. Instead, it created people who signed up for a month, created a bunch of toons, and then stopped paying, but because they paid once now were Premium members. Bad move that. Restructure it so that it's a $5 sub?

The idea of adding a tier is a thought, say $20-25 and make it that all new/purchasable costume and power sets are free? Or increased Paragon Points per month?
  17. I'll move on once the game is actually dead and buried, thank you very much. Until then, it is, as LittleDavid, diagnosed with cancer. You can either walk away from the dieing patient, or do everything in your power to save it.

I may not be able to do much... but will continue to do what I can, and continue to sign into the game and play... because I love this game. Period.

Theres a readme file explaining how to change it from korean to english - if you change "kcoh" to "krcoh" in your regedit search - you should have no problem.

I found it... changed it... ran the program and it just ends up switching back...

Still, should CoH not get it's stay of execution, this is a valuable resource.

    Free XPs?

First toon I signed into I had just been on with last night.

    The second, 7 days ago.

    That's not it either...
  20. No offense to those that are playing now, but...

I've tried CO... twice. Don't like the poor graphics, don't like the fact that the game looks and feels and plays like CoH's poor relation. For a game that came out after CoH, it seems like a game 20 years behind it.
  21. LeperDave1

    Free XPs?

Nope... and just signed into another toon, and, while she didn't go up a level, the XP counter ticked up a few notches
  22. LeperDave1

    Free XPs?

Just signed in and loaded a character... then signed out and back in. Some how he went up a level in that time.

    WTF???? and LMAO
  23. Would our saved costume files still work?

Nah, even that wouldn't effect my love for the game. I'm constantly running up new characters anyway.
  24. I don't have a single 50. Highest I have right now is one 30, and a few in the 20s. I've only been playing for about a year and a half or so and spent more time coming up with new toons than concentrating on the almighty leveling of one or two of them.

For a good super hero game, I'd even play if there wasn't any leveling at all...
