james_joyce was kind enough to post this image from the NYCC presentation
I think the UI image looks great, but I instantly thought, "they could do more" and really hit it out of the park. Since I19 isn't even in Closed Beta yet, I wanted to post this while it was fresh in my head in hopes they would get a chance to maybe pull this off.
Step 1- Add Facilities markers
Seeing the level range for each zone is great. It would also be great to see icons that denote Tailor, Auction, University next to the stop they are closest to. It should be for things that are unique to some zones and not others. No point in marking stores, hospitals, trainers, etc.
Step 2- Don't forget the Black Chopper Line!
No specific mention has been made of the Villain side Black Choppers and whether they will be getting a merger too. I hope they do, but I wanted to put the reminder in place now. Additionally, and this is probably the most unrealistic of my requests for Issue 19 time window, but consider adding a Black Chopper stop to the North end of Nerva Archipelago, and the Southern end of Mercy Isle. One requires adding a Chopper in Nerva, but the other one simply means connecting a portal and adding a pilot to one of the Choppers parked at Fort Cerebus.
Step 3- For the Future
This one is just a tossed in idea for a future issue. Create a combined interface like this for Supergroup Teleporter systems!!!!! -

Really so hard to notice that the shape and the map essentially leads you up there?

Threats on a forum are lol. Grow a bit of humility je_saist, it's just a game and just a forum, and you're not all that. None of us are.

Quote:Hyperbole for the win!The company policy is quickly becoming the iron grip of a thinly disguised military dictatorship. It's certainly not a policy most western MMO customers are comfortable with
If I'd have joined the game today instead of 2006, they wouldn't have gotten anything after my free month
Please make sure that the higher-ups are aware that there is displeasure amongst the end users of their product
If you're thinking this is a new policy or are just now becoming aware of just how much what game developers (at this or any game) are hedged in what they say, you're naive. -
Quote:Who said he wasn't? Who said he wanted to? After all the willful twisting of his words that people did, I wasn't surprised to hear he got off the forums and Twitter, and I wasn't particularly surprised (saddened yes) to hear he was leaving.Me, too. BaB deserved a chance to say goodbye. It all feels so wrong.
I'm sure it's painful enough having to face the people in the office as he was leaving. I don't blame him a second if he didn't want to come up with a farewell post and jump through all the hoops needed to make sure what he said was allowed. -

Haven't read many Tip Mission clues, but I'm fairly certain you're right they're being cleared out, but you should still be able to read them after you complete the mission, but before you exit the map.
-
Not sure what you're looking for on the first bit, do you mean Powerset/AT choices?
As for the second, I'd say a Fire/Dark Corruptor would be perfect for a Hellskull. -
Last night I was thinking about the Fame Bar. I thought it would be interesting to get some kind of mechanism that helped players mitigate it, and get a little extra speed when it comes to Reinforcing their alignment from time to time.
My first solution would be an INF sink, plain and simple. An NPC for each alignment (Fixer, PR Agent, Inside Man, Undercover Agent) that let you pay INF to buy off a certain amount of Fame Every X days (number to be determined, but I was thinking 5 bubbles/week). This would actually be a neat idea, as the game needs more INF sinks, but it seemed kind of boring to me so I kept thinking.
Then I decided, why have an NPC when the character could do it for themselves through the Day Job system? Peter Parker helped Spider Mans fame through his pictures, Clark Kent wrote about Superman, etc. I know in those cases they made them more famous, but at least in the case of Spider Man, the pictures helped prevent people from thinking of him as a criminal. Batman had Jim Gordon so that could be the case for an NPC, or just a connection he calls when he needs a favor.
So anyway, from a technical standpoint, I thought the Day Job could work like this:
We already have special salvage that eliminates the need for certain things in given minigames (Security Bypass, Invention/Tailor Coupons, etc). In this case, the Day Job could earn someone of a given alignment the equivalent of Get Out of Jail Free cards. Then when you complete an Alignment mission the game checks to see if you have one before it increments the Fame Bar, and you get a popup asking you if you want to use it.
The other idea I thought of would be an Autopower with Charges, which is admittedly less clunky, but hasn't been implemented elsewhere I can think of, so would take new Tech. They could even make the special salvage invisible, and automatic, so that people wouldn't have to suspend disbelief about the "free pass" But personally I prefer having a choice in the matter.
Each Alignment would have it's own Day Job, It's own coupon, and it's own locations. It wouldn't help people just interested in changing sides really, it's meant for people committed to reinforcing their alignment.
Here are some thoughts about Job Names and Locations-
Hero- Top Man (Woman)
Maj. Eaton: We have top men working on it now.
Indiana: Who?
Maj. Eaton: Top... men.
Just like in the movies, you're the top of your field and have all kinds of hush hush connections. This helps you get your work done with a minimum of notice.
Location- Fort Trident
Villain- Fixer (I think this badge name is in use but it's fantastic for this job anyway)
They're the one you go to when the heat is on, they can make everything alright and give you some breathing room to get back to serious villainy.
Location- The Crucible
Vigilante- Undercover Agent
When you're on the edge of the law and can't rely on anyone but yourself, sometimes you have to make things happen.
Location- ??? I dunno can't think of one, would like to see a new spot or good existing spots thought of in this thread.
Rogue- Inside Man
Just like cops infiltrate criminal gangs, Bad Guys infiltrate honest companies to better be able to steal or manipulate them. You've put yourself in a good place to pull some strings with this job.
Location- ???
So what do people think? -
My other guess is the extra second is the time it took Hopkins to realize he was defeated. He's the most pathetic AV after all.
-
Slots yes, but they are slots for Incarnate abilites and not your specific powers. From what we've heard about, it's best to think of them as a meta slot, kind of like a reverse Set Bonus.
-
My suspicion is, the timing of mission complete, determining challenge success, then posting it to the popup accounts for that 1 second discrepancy. It's entirely possible the timer keeps on timing until the popup, instead of stopping when the mission completes.
Just my guess. If it is a bug it's a pretty trivial one but by all means report it. -
I run it (not super often but I do) because it is finally what it was meant to be, a solid introduction to the TF system. Nonessential travel is minimized, the encounters feel epic, and the maps and goals are interesting, with a minimum of redundancy.

I mentioned this in the other thread, and I'm not sure it's precisely a missing piece. However I will say it again here.
Male/Huge characters get the Resistance skull cap as a Hat option.
Female characters do not. They get two hairstyles, but no hat.
Female NPCs in Praetoria have the hat and it's seen quite often.
If you decided not to give it to female characters for some kind of parity rule (2 Hairstyles for female/ 1 hairstyle + 1hat for males) rethink that decision please.
I think we as players are less worried about male/female parity in costume additions than we are avoiding arbitrary restrictions. We know for a long time females had more choices and it's been a departmental effort to deal with that. It's fine really to have a few extra options here and there. As long as you don't spend half a year only coming out with female costume parts, no one is going to be bugged. -
Quote:They haven't disappeared. They're just only available on Jackets w/sleeves (and I think Robes w/sleeves)The Task Force Commander accolade briefly unlocked a pair of shoulder epaulets. Essentially the same as the two spiked epaulets except... um, without the spikes. The normal epaulets vanished from the game a while back, for no discernible reason. I'm pretty sure I've seen at least one NPC wearing them.
I know because I just put them on my Dominator turned hero when I saw the part unlock upon granting the accolade.
So no need to bring it back, but I say EXPAND IT'S AVAILABILITY. PPD get to have them on tights, no need to restrict our options in that regard.
Put them on every type of top they can manage, I'd be happy. -
Quote:Plenty of great utility powers out there that don't require heavy slotting, or just plain picks you can make to drop certain IOs in.I'm still a little unclear on why this would cause me to respec anyway - inherent or not, it was never the number of power picks that causes cramping, it's the number of slots.
On most of my toons, I run health & stam with three a pop; if these become inherent, I'll gain one power pick (passing over swift/hurdle) but still need to throw them three each...which means I'll have at least one more pick that I can't give as many slots to as I did before.
*shrug* Guess I'm just sort of ambivalent about its inherent status. I likely won't bother changing a thing. -
yes sorry for the misunderstanding, I thought me saying buy it for 1-2 merits made it clear I wasn't random rolling on recipes for myself.
Slider only works when you buy singles. -
Most definitely. I got a Numi Unique the other day and flipped it for 50mil in under a minute.
When buying things for myself though I save up 1-2 Merits and buy them at the lowest level possible. -
6 of one, half dozen of another. Take the red, and your tank won't have a chance to get one shot (or nearly so). Or if the red is down and the tank does drop, someone else has a better chance to get him to chase them and distract him long enough for the tank to get back.
-
basically yes. There's a good reason teams take Red Tower first. The encounter is mostly trivialized once that one is down.
-
I've had to take over for an INV with my Shield Brute on an STF, until the red tower was down. I had to take every buff the team had, plus my own Accolades, but I did it.
My advice would have been that you as the Illusion troller pulled LR into the corner with PA then let the tank take over for as long as the downtime of your PA is. If you're PA is perma, you can effectively be the tank until the red tower is down. -
Newer missions with newer glowies are quieter. The old ones I havent noticed any change with.
