Concept help

Hi all I have an idea in my head and not sure where to start with it. I have been looking at all the comic book characters and Amalgams that are on the web for ideas and an idea popped into my head for a few toons.

I'm thinking of a villain with super speed. Like a Joker mixed with Quicksilver. Background would be like the Micheal Keaton version of Batman. The part where joker falls into the vat of chemicals. That would also give my guy his super speed.

Last question is what are some good power choices for a hellion mixed with the skulls. The idea is he's the leader of a mixed Hellion and Skull gang and can go with hero or villain powers to start.

Not sure what you're looking for on the first bit, do you mean Powerset/AT choices?

As for the second, I'd say a Fire/Dark Corruptor would be perfect for a Hellskull.

Thanks and the fire/dark corrupter sounds like a good idea. The joker/Quicksilver idea i'm wondering about is archetype and powersets. thinking something in the lines of a scrapper or stalker with super speed.

Any advice would be great.

Along the lines of a "super speed" toon, people typically think Kinetics. As a scrap/stalk, we have been handed "Kinetic Melee" as a new offensive power. Now, it may not be what you are looking for, as it has more of a "Dragon Ball Z" feel to it. Dark Melee has a power that has fists moving fast, similar to "Flurry" from the super speed power pool, or "Sands of Mu" Vet power.

If that doesn't suit you, Dual Blades animation can give the appearance of two swords moving at a high rate of speed, especially once you get "One Thousand Cuts".

As for secondary, super speed scraps/stalks I've seen lean toward Super Reflexes, "They move so fast they don't get hit".

If you want advice on what power sets to choose to become a bad@$$, I am not the guy to talk to. I'm only here to offer advice on what "looks" like super speed. In the end, you'll have to find something that is fun to play and fits your theme. Hope I helped a bit.

I'll look at those and Dark super reflexes might work. In the comics they mixed Batman with Wolverine and created Dark Claw. So that's the idea behind my Joker mixed with Marvels Quicksilver to create a super speed clown basically.

Thanks for the tips and it gave me an idea on where to start.

Dark Melee and Super Reflexes is a rather powerful combo in addition to giving a nice speedster feel. The first two Dark Melee attacks go off pretty quickly and Shadow Maul can hit up to 5 closely grouped targets with your machine gun fists of fury. The fact that Dark Melee's attacks reduce the accuracy of enemies struck by them works well with Super Reflexes' emphasis on high defense. (Well, it lowers enemy tohit, but without going into the details of the combat system your attacks make enemies hit by them have a harder time hitting you for a short while, and it stacks with your +def.) Super Reflexes has a passive power that increases how fast you can run and/or fly while also reducing the time it take for powers to recharge.

Also, depending on how clownish you want to be, you can tint each of Dark Melee's attacks with a different bright color.

Oh, and Dark Melee is a good utility set in general with a fun fear power for a scary clown even if it doesn't do damage.

Still, at least half the fun is trying out alts and new combos. Read up in some of the different Archetype forums and guides for more info.

Another good source of game info is the Paragon Wiki. (It's not recommended to use the wikia site that appears in Google searches. It isn't updated by the players, and has occasionally had malware on it.)

I would have to concur with previous posts. DM/SR. I quite like the concept actually. Have you thought of a name? One Liner and Gag Reflex spring to mind.

Thanks for all the advice and at moment I Just have him as Speed Joke. Sitting on the tutorial while i try and come up with a costume that i actually like. I went with the Dark/SR route and it's got the right vibe for what i was after.

Another idea i did, was i took the look of Captain America and through him in the sinister pants with a Cap styled top. Gave him the pointy hood with a jester short mask and jester boots. I call that guy American Gremlin cuz i was trying to mix Hob Goblin and Cap. Wound up with Claws/Fire as a power set on a Scrapper and went Loyalist on him.

Yea there's an Amalgam Vibe going on and the picture of Captain America Kneeling at the Iron Patriots feet kinda was the inspiration on that one. Had him as a Corrupter at 1 point with Fire/Dark.

Or a Plants/Fire Dominator, and call him a Skullion.

Reminds me of one of my villains who is a demonically possessed head of Romaine Lettuce out to rid the world of vegetarians . . . and bunnies.

I was in a weird mood the night I created her.

As Bunny From Da Hood I applaud your creativity and sense of oddness.

As Bunny From Da Hood I dare you to try and get rid of vegetarians...and bunnies.

Enjoy your day please.

Then you would have also liked my AR blaster who looked like an 800lb canary (imagine a monstrous tweety bird) and sat in one of the trees in Atlas Park repeatedly chanting his battle-cry, "Here kitty kitty kitty kitty . . ."

I have a radioactive TeddyBear running around as well.

All good fun.

Enjoy your day please.

Without reading all the replies, I propose, based on the initial concept description, an Electric stalker, dressed like a harlequin, named "Gigglewatts".

In light of the Dark Melee set, I thought "Punch Line" would be a perfect name.

Most of my characters have names based on puns, but my favorite "joke" character is a young-looking AR/Dev blaster dressed in a pink bunny suit. Wearing glasses, of course. His Battle Cry is "I'll shoot your eye out!" and his name is "Mad Ralphie." I mainly pull him out at Christmas time.

LOCAL MAN! The most famous hero of all. There are more newspaper stories about me than anyone else. "Local Man wins Medal of Honor." "Local Man opens Animal Shelter." "Local Man Charged with..." (Um, forget about that one.)

ALL clowns are scary.

To the OP, you might also consider Electric Armor. It has Lightning Reflexes, which permanently increases your movement and attack speed without costing any endurance. It also has a damage aura in Lightning Field. Your character could be a walking joy buzzer. (If you roll a female clown, you could even name her Joy Buzzer.)

It's a clown. Being male, female or uncertain is not required for a clown to be named Joy. Or Wiggums. Or Shnookie. Or Nookie Monster. Hehe Haha. Zerbert the Unyielding. Tinkles the Unwieldy. Santos the Heavy. Squiggy. Captain Butz Pirate. (Okay that last alias was used by The Red Guy, but he's a rather clownish character.)

I stand (or sit on a whoopie cushion) corrected. My reasoning was clearly impaired by my clownophobia.
