  1. You can add slots to brawl but I don't really reccommend it. It'll pretty much always be bad, but it recharges quickly and doesn't cost any Endurance to use, so it's good attack chain filler at low levels. At higher ones, you can stop using it completely as you'll have better attacks to use.
  2. First after whitename.

Thanks Castle, it was always intereting reading your posts, and thanks for your huge contribution to a game I love. Best of luck for the future.
  3. The thing is, and IMO this makes it a bit better than the first Incarnate mission, you're not invincible, just really really buffed.
The waves of Legacy must have managed to really debuff me at one point, because my Elec/Shield's health started dropping like a stone and I had to run away to heal up.

Still, the Legacy did go on for a bit long there.

    Unusual but fun?

Sometimes just making an unusual power pool choice can make a difference.

I recently made a BS/Shield scrapper. So far so staid and normal, but having her always fight from Hover added a lot for some reason. The extra maneuverability and animation changes made a big difference.
  5. ... is maybe now my new favorite arc. There's so much I enjoyed about it, I'm not sure where to begin.

An interesting contact, unique game and story mechanics, a wide variety of enemy groups, and a pretty much constant stream of surprising situations meant that it was engaging from start to finish.

My only complaint is that it would be nice to be given some sort of markers on my map for the contacts from other factions. Since my character was fresh out of Praetoria, I didn't really know where they were located and had to spend a lot of time searching Sharkhead for them. But they seemed to be optional anyway.

If this is the caliber of the new I19 arcs, I can't wait to check out the blueside one. If you've got a character redside, take a break from farming shards and try it out.
  6. I19 got me playing my PB again, which I had barely touched since I10. I've decided to make use of the builds fuction to make a human-only build and a dwarf/nova build. But I'm not in the habit of going crazy with IOs etc, so I'm probably doing something wrong with this that I could do better.

Hows this for the human-only build?

    Some notes...

    1) I wish to fight in Combat Flight ALL the time, so I skipped Solar Flare as I understand you can't use it while flying.
    2) Didn't take Dawn Strike because I'm not a fan of the End crash.
    3) How are Proton Scatter and Luminous Detonation these days? I never took them before because I heard they were rubbish, but I need more AOE. Yes I know it's crazy to say that after discounting the two best AOEs in the set.
    4) No purples or PVP IOs planned as I'm not made of money.
    5) Current alpha slot is Cardiac Radial Boost.

Still working on the Dwarf/Nova build. 2 quick questions..

    1) If I slot a human power with set IOs, will set bonuses carry over to Dwarf/Nova form?
    2) Would slotting Dwarf form attacks with damage procs increase damage better than damage IOs would?

    Thanks.
  7. I love it.

It's got me playing my old alts again, and having a lot of fun with them.
It allows me to either fix the worst issue my character builds have, or improve their strengths.
It's got people running TFs that aren't the ITF much more frequently.
The promise of shards is encouraging people to actually fight enemies instead of ghosting every single mission they can.

It's a great addition to the game.
  8. Don't forget simple red inspirations. More damage is a great counter to regen.
  9. I gotta ask, what's Holtz even DOING in this mission? Is he rogue? Did he try to return the Honoree to the Rikti or something? Because he's in the middle of this huge group of Rikti portals, and neither he or they seem to care.
  10. The spawns are not infinite. We cleared the whole place out while trying to kill her.

You don't HAVE to be alpha slotted, but you'd better be. All enemies are at level 54 and without a boost in your alpha slot you will be debuffed to level 46.

Basically unless you're sure of what you're doing don't run this without a boost. It's not enough to have the slot unlocked, you must have a boost in it.

  12. Did this yesterday, and it took a long time, but we got it done. Team was three scrappers, 2 controllers, 1 corrupter and 1 defender. No dedicated healers among them.

Things didn't go very well for a while, because the blue patches seemed to send a lot of the team into panic mode and we got very disorganised. Eventually about half the team wanted to quit, but we made a plan, drilled into people's heads that they'd have to KEEP MOVING and it wasn't too long after that we whittled her down.

When it comes to dealing with the patches, positioning and survival are your highest priority.

    1) Zoom out your camera as far as it goes.
    2) Keep an eye on the current patches.
    3) Watch your feet: as soon as you see a blue marker appear, move to open ground.
    4) Steer clear - patches appear to be slightly larger than they look.
    5) Avoid queueing attacks, or at least stick to quick ones. You need to be ready to move.
    6) If you're in a really tight situation, bear in mind that the current patches will fade about a second before the new ones appear. You can move into where they were in that time.
    7) If you die, don't try to use a wakie or hang around for a rez. Just hosp. If you load quickly you can be back in under 30 secs.
    8) Don't hang out near the door, certainly don't fight there. If a patch drops there warn anyone coming down.

Aside from the patches, BM herself didn't seem much of a threat. All the scrappers on the team were capable of tanking her for extended periods. My softcapped /SR could happily hold her aggro just by spamming shuriken.

For my team, the most important thing was just to stay calm and focus. Once we got over the THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE!!!!! angst, things went pretty smoothly. Yes we died lots but it worked out in the end. And I, personally, had a hell of a good time.
  13. I read Scott Sharkey's "Memoirs of an Urban Vigilante" blog and was impressed. The sheer range of characters on offer, the interesting setting and the gameplay all appealed to me. (it helped he's a good writer and the activities of the Circle of Jerks were funny)

I didn't buy the game immediately, but inbetween Christmas and New Year that year I saw it for sale in PC World and bought it on a whim. Therefore on my first day ingame I was given a free Jingle Jet while in Outbreak - sold forever!
  14. Seems like excellent news. Hopefully there are future steps still to come that will further improve the EU player's game experience.
  15. The main things that worry me about marketing are things like this and this.

For an expansion that was extremely important to the game, GR sure launched with an almost complete absence of coverage from the mainstream gaming websites.

    Agree/Disagree

Hm, makes a sort of sense if you're stealthing everything.

If you're only killing the boss room and skipping the majority of enemies, you'll need to do more missions to hit 50. Thus the stalker will need to do more content to get to 50 then a non-stealth character.

Is that what the OP meant? I have no idea.

    Making a Void

I'm asking here more for lore reasons than AT/powers reasons, but I've recently been bit by an urge to play as a Void Stalker. (and probably redeem it) Should be possible to recreate the costume pretty well, but how would you guys go about building the character?

Would playing a human-only warshade be appropriate lore-wise? Or should I go for something like AR instead? And does anyone know if I can repeatedly pick up the Quantum Array Gun temp power from flashback or if I can only get it once?
  18. Option 1 sounds good to me.
  19. In once dreamed I hacked someone else's account and stole his Inv tank because I wanted to see what it was like at high levels.

Last night I dreamed that I had a fire tank that looked just like Yukari Takeba from Persona 3, and people were commenting on why it looked like Yukari because that makes no sense. (Storm/Archery, surely?)
  20. Personally, I find that James Rolfe, (the Angry Video Game Nerd) is among the very best internet reviewers. People look at his success and think "oh, it's all about the swearing," but they could not be more wrong.

    1) He has superb presentation. He has well editied videos with clear audio. He looks the part, with a simple but memorable apperance, he clearly rehearses and he never mumbles. He also understands comedic timing.

    2) He has an excellent knowledge of his subject matter, and he covers it comprehensively. You can tell by watching his reviews that he's played the games - even the really bad ones - a LOT, and looked up information about them.

    3) He strikes a balance between crowd-pleasers and obscure games, and also covers games he actually likes. I have to mention the Swordquest review here, which I do not think any other reviewer would have ever touched, but which is one of my favorite Nerd reviews. Way too many reviewers only cover bad things because ranting and complaining is easy and gets more hits, somehow. The Nerd is able to convey that a game is great, as well as terrible.

These qualities carry over to his reviews of movies and board games too. Moreso, as he's not limited to the Angry Nerd character and can talk more about things he finds awesome.

The only criticism of him I have is his use of skits, which can take over reviews, but he's far from the worst offender here.

This is a personal bugbear, but internet reviewer skits are pretty much the worst things 99% of the time. Everyone wants the next Dr Insano, but the majority of things they produce are just boring and detract from the review. Nobody cares about Mechalinkara, or your ongoing plot, or the five other reviewers you got to cameo for the last 30 seconds, or wants to watch amateur dramatics for 10 minutes at the end of a review. (exception: Nostalgia Chick's extended cast are pretty much all awesome)
  21. The saddest part of this thread is if the OP had come these forums with questions about how to afford things and make money on the market, how best to find teams on his server (global channels go a LONG way, and my experience is with traditionally empty-seeming Euro servers,) what content is the most up to date and thus more enjoyable, started actual discussions about what he wanted to see in endgame, PVP or badges, or if he'd posted to the tech support forum about his graphical glitches (wow, NEVER seen ones like that before) he'd have found a friendly and welcoming community that's EXTREMELY eager to help other players and can, mostly, keep things flame free and have some fun. He could have enjoyed his time ingame more and produced a more accurate video.

Instead he stormed in with an ill-informed, slightly arrogant vanity piece that advocated things that were either highly impractical, already under development, out of date or based on incomplete info, sidelining the many positive aspects of the game and how its differences, not its similarities to other games make it more attractive to people who do not want the WoW or Korean Grinder experiences. In response he found a cold, bitchy and unhelpful response, a mix of people who were angry, flaming and outright trolling. Not the best day for either side.

My only response is that money talks, and to the best of my knowledge while this game never had and never will have the fluke sub numbers of WoW, it has never been unprofitable either. It has never needed to merge servers, and I believe a dev at PAX stated that the sales of GR were quite healthy.

Yeah, this post is about as horrible as everything else in this thread. Sorry 'bout that.
  22. Like I said in my post, it naturally wouldn't be applicable to all powers.
  23. @ Tymers_Realm and SolarSentai

    As I understand it...

If after I19 hits you still have Fitness in a build, you will not lose it, and you will not have the Inherent Fitness.

If you make a new character or respec a build after I19 hits, you will be given Inherent Fitness at the start of the creation/respec process, and will not be able to pick Fitness from the power pools.

You will not be required to do anything before I19 arrives.

If you're worried, there's always open beta. We should get a definite answer to how it works then, but I have a hunch I'm right.
