  1. I happily solo my stalkers through 98% of all content. It's nice to not need anyone to succeed.

    Going rogue

I'll never go rouge, but I will go rogue.
  3. You guys are all missing my point. If the devs do something to prevent these emails to get through, the RMTers WILL send you unsolicited tells. They've done it before, they'll do it again. It is much worse than the in game emails.
I am NOT supporting the "rights" of RMTers to send you email. I AM supporting the FACT that this is the BEST OPTION, what we are doing now, is the best option. It is the LEAST intrusive to your game play. Believe it or not.
  4. Having the red email word on the display interface is the best option. If the devs do anything to prevent these emails from getting through, we'll be back to getting unsolicited spam tells. And I guarantee you you will hate the unsolicited spam tells about 100 times worse than the 30 spam emails it takes you 10 seconds to clear out.
So think about it. 10 seconds to deals with these, or unsolicited spam tells that you can't stop.
  5. Aett is starting to "Go Rogue" with the advice methinks.
  6. You should give WM another try Kruunch. Invul no longer suffers from knockback that WM used to do. Fire Armor synergize well with all the KD from the WM set. Clobber is now the best power in WM, in case you missed it.
  7. The answer to this is obvious. Remember that these MA mission arcs are actually considered Task Forces by the game engine. They are not regular missions. In a Task Force, only the leader can talk to the contact.
When you both choose different TF's only the starred leader can initialize the TF and get things rolling. Also remember, when playing a multiple mission arc, and you add more players half way through, they will not be able to enter the mission you're currently in. Just like in a normal TF, you cannot add players mid Task Force.

Im not saying this is not annoying, or not optimal, but it is what it is. I hope they can figure out how to change this MA so that it considers these regular missions and not Task Forces. For me, this is the biggest issue most are having with teaming in this system now.
  8. Its not a difficult decision for me to just refuse the buffs. If you hate the sound effects that much, refuse the reading. I allowed one, and will not again. I applaud the devs for making that pop window, and not an automatic buff/debuff power that others could grief you with.

    Unstoppable

I think the power Unstoppable should be changed for NPCs, it's penalties are not severe enough.

When an Invul tanker invokes Unstoppable, he knows he has a certain ammount of time to fight before he crashes, then he either has to run off and hide, phase shift, hope he has the right inspirations, or dies in battle.

When an NPC boss invokes Unstoppable, the power ends with really no penalties.

I do not propose his health and end crash all the way to minimum like a tankers does. That would be a silly exploitable Iwin button. Bad design choice.

I do propose he faces other penalties though.

    1) He is rooted for 15 seconds, cannot attack. Mimicking the time a real player has to deal with an unstoppable crash.
    2) He is penalized with a huge resistance debuff and defense debuff, that would mimic what would happen to a tank when his toggles have all dropped.

In a nutshell the NPC Unstoppable would allow the player a window of time to do great damage to a tough NPC,at Boss EB or AV level.
  10. Really I think its all in the story content. If you cant create a mission with even the slightest regard for vocabulary of any sort which tells a story, or explains why, it should be considered a bannable farm mission. Just placing foes on a map and saying "farm it" means its definately going to get axed.

I played 2 missions yesterday, One was given by a "Farmer Pete" (not the real contacts name) who asked for help in farming his vegtables. Inside was an instanced Croatoa map with custom baddies all with nearly the same powersets. It got banned. It was actually fun for a one time run through.

Then I played one that was a 2 mission arc that was battling Hot Peppers. But the hot peppers were different. The minions were fire scrappers. The Lieuts were Fire blasters, and the Bosses and Elite Bosses were very tough and called in reinforcements.

I actually dont think either mission should have gotten banned. They were both fun.

But I can see the first one getting stale quicker. Why? No story, no reason to do it more than once. All the baddies had were melee attacks.

A hovering blaster decked out with AoEs could do that entire mission without a chance of being touched.
  11. Im not going to read this whole thread. Should I or should I not respec out a set of Expedient Reinforcements from my Dark Extractions on my WS?
  12. How about an Aerialist day job for logging out on top of the highest buildings, say above 1500 ft. Get a small increase in flight speed as a bonus. I mean...we DO achieve terminal velocity!!
  13. Is this hot fix just for people with NVIDIA cards? Or will it work for ATI users as well?
  14. Just sent in a bug report this morning about this. I play an Energy/Traps corruptor at lvl 34. I was facing a Red Council Lieut. so that would make him lvl 36. I set out some traps, ie Caltrops, Acid Mortar, and Seeker Drones. Then fired one Power Burst (which missed) and ducked back around a corner to pull him into my trap.

    He ran away.

Why should a red lieut. be this afraid of a solo corruptor?

Well because he can see my traps...even though they are out of sight. If I would just fire and duck behind without traps, he'd be pulled like I'd normally expect. But because I have to protect myself, and set my Acid Mortar, out of sight, he STILL runs away?

This is broken. This character is not playable if I cannot pull my foes back into a boobietrap.
  15. What is the best flashback mission arc to farm Paragon Protectors in so I can unlock Viridian?
  16. Im sure this has already been suggested, but in case it has not:

For logging out near the Terra Volta reactor - Nuclear Engineer Day Job
  17. Happy Birthday Reiraku!

    Reiraku=BabyNewYear??

  18. Any other player's power can be "annoying" if it disrupts what you personally intended to do.
As a team game, we need to learn to play together and share the fun and let others play the way they see as fun. Not label player power choices as annoyances.

Therefore this thread is full of epic phail.

We do not need a guide telling people to skip certain powers.
Have fun, people, playing the way you personally see your characters develop, not the way some forum post tells you to do.

With the recent news about Massively.com awarding City of Heroes and City of Villains the "Most Improved Game of 2008 Award," we wanted to find out from you the Community what your favorite features of the past year have been.

Starting from Issue 11.5 to Issue 12: The Midnight Hour to our recent Issue 13: Power & Responsibility we have covered a lot of ground.

What was your favorite feature of 2008?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Many good things happened in our game this year.

If I had to choose my one favorite thing, it would have to be the ability to add slots to my favorite server (Victory) so I could continue playing there, in my base that I spent many hours building up.

Running out of slots and starting out on a new server just is too much work. Im thankful I can keep my old toons and make new ones that use the old ones resources.

Thats the best feature I can think of.

EDIT: Woot!!!!!First after a Positron post!! Eat that fellas!!!
  23. The Rite Aid near my house still doesn't have any. They have a nice gift card endcap display, but nothing from NC Soft.
  24. was the player you were trying to placate running assault?
  25. I've run a mace tank since Issue 2, my first character was Inv/Mace, and I still play him today. Last time I checked I had between 1600 and 1800 hrs playing him. Although I no longer consider him my main, I do keep him current with the changes in the game.
I also have a second mace tank on the same server, Victory, that is a lvl 44 Fire/Mace. All the knowledge I accumulated playing the first mace really helped me with the second character.

I could have and should have written a mace guide, a long time ago, but I'm lazy and procrastinated and went through many periods where I just thought that mace was so bad, why write a guide no one would read anyway?

With that, I cannot complain about what Hagis has written it is generally informative. I know, its hard to write a guide for mace and make it exciting. I know I couldn't do it.

I will humbly offer a few tidbits of advice for mace that I found hold true for me, and if Hagis feels like adding this info to his guide, he is more than welcome to. If he wants to just ignore it he can as well. After all it is HIS guide, not mine.

(1)All mace attacks are useful, but some are better suited for certain primaries more than others. An example is Fire Armor/Mace. A FA/WM tank can make great use of burn if he chose to because of having 3 attacks that Knockdown; Jawbreaker, Shatter and Crowd Control. With these 3 attacks, a solo tank can keep a group of mobs in the burn patch the entire time about as well as an Ice melee tank can with his Ice patch. Add in Air Superiority and having 4 attacks that KD can mitigate a tremendous amount of damage.

(2)Both of my mace tanks run Focused Accuracy from the Energy epic all the time. The 5% bonus by itself is not enough to be able to run with just 1 slot of accuracy in your attacks.
With the invention system, set bonuses can add considerable acc to not need FA but that takes time to accrue. I recommend FA at least initially until you get the sets built that provide the additional accuracy you need. Invul has +tohit in invincibility that helps mace somewhat, but I was never able to count on it in a pinch. Meaning when you're facing a really tough foe, and you can't afford to miss even one shot, having a power like Invincibility to buff your ability to hit when theres only one foe remaining is iffy at best. Besides there are more important uses for invincibility besides to hit, like defense, and taunt ability, and end reduction to consider. I could never find a happy slotting for invincibilty that took care of my to hit as well as keeping me and my team safe. So I just chose to forget that invincibilty had any to hit in it at all and found the solution elsewhere.

(3)Most every mace build is going to be tight because of this. In fact, one of the tightest builds I've even done was the FA/WM tank. So many powers needed not enough power choices until way late. It is definately NOT a set combination for a starting player. But it is very rewarding when you've hit the late 30s, early 40's.
Because of accuracy concerns I wouldn't even recommend Inv/Mace as a starter combination.
(4)Knowing what I know about tanks I would think either Ice Armor or Willpower to be the best Primary to pair with Mace and make it easy enough for a new player to grasp.
