    Music for CoX

That's where it's supposed to be. Check out this thread, particularly near the end. I'm getting Permission Denied errors in both Opera and Chrome. It appears to be a problem on their end.

    That'd be a Bind, not a Macro.

Something along the lines of this should work:
    /bind w "+powexecname Combat Jumping$$powexecname Ninja Run"

Edit: If you also want 'w' to continue to make you run forward, you'll need to use this bind instead:
    /bind w "+forward$$powexecname Combat Jumping$$powexecname Ninja Run"

Also, if you turn on Combat Jumping outside of these binds, it'll result in the order getting mixed up, causing CJ to turn on when you press W, and NR to turn on when you release it (you can fix this by turning off NR, or turning on CJ).

Edit: Or just read MB's corrections below

And if so, are the enhancements i had for the old spec gone as well?
Or will I have both builds that i can switch between depending on what im doing in the game at that moment?
There are no dedicated pvp or pve builds in this game. Every character, though, after reaching level 10 has access to two builds that can be used for whatever purpose. You can switch between them every (IIRC) 15 minutes at a trainer, and they can have different powers, and each has their own sets of enhancements (set bonuses & globals from one build have no impact on the other). A lot of people use one of the two builds for a PvP build, but it's not required, and it won't automatically switch upon entering a PvP zone. You also respec the two builds individually.

I hope that rambling mess was clear. You can read the ParagonWiki article on multiple builds for more information. ParagonWiki is a great source of information about most all aspects of the game.

Yes you can. You can use all the chord keys on their own, as well as use them both individually and as part of a combination at the same time (I just double checked this in game to be sure).

    Invention System

You can't just build a crap ton of a single invention, but have to build them in pairs. See this article on ParagonWiki about it.

And I'd recommend against ever posting your email in a public forum like this... best way to get massive amounts of spam.
  6. What server is everyone on? I've been doing a lot of random missions & TF/SFs, and not noticed any load times close to as bad as the ones described here (generally around the ~20 seconds that I timed). I've been playing most only on Freedom lately.

The card could be improperly seated (I have had that happen to me... that was a fun one to figure out!). The fan could also be dusty, resulting in greatly reduced air flow, which'd cause a rise in the GPU's temperature, which will result in reduced stability (if you're lucky- if you're not, failure).

Also, while on the topic of overheating... make sure you're also not overclocking the card (nor your processor, or system RAM set to the wrong timings), because that will reduce stability.

Say that you apply a -25% dam power on a mob that can do a 100 damage attack. And you have 50% resistance to that type of attack. Is it as simple as they now do 75 damage to you, and then you resist 50% of that for a final damage of 37.5?

    Is it that simple?
    Yes it is!*

    * Many mobs (i.e. AVs and such) have a huge amount of various debuff resistance... I can't recall if either -damage or -res are resisted, but it's possible... off to Paragonwiki!

Edit: It looks like there is indeed no resistance to -damage or -res! Huzzah!

In that case, I'd definitely upgrade (I didn't even like using x400 level cards... much less x100!). The prices in that link didn't look very good (nearly as much as the new one that blows it away?). Unless you can find it for a lot less than that, I'd suggest against the 260 in that case (I'd thought the price was a lot lower by now!)

The physical size of the monitor is completely irrelevant- it's the resolution that's important (bigger monitor doesn't always equal higher resolution). Laptops with the same resolution as the 5 foot HDTVs aren't at all uncommon, and the laptop's screen would take just as much memory to drive as the 5 foot one.

  11. There was another thread here a couple days ago that said the cooldown is 48 hours, and that if you can't for over 48 hours, then you should call them because your account has been most likely flagged (the person talked to support and were told that). You should call them directly, it's the fastest and easiest method, much better than playing with emails for a few days.

Not every serious gamer wants to (or can) spend more on their computer than on their car. The 'serious gamer', as you call them, make up just a tiny, tiny fraction of the market. XP is in its sunset years, but it's definitely still alive and a large portion of the market.
  13. Your video card's drivers are out of date, and you're a service pack behind.

Is it graphic lag, or latency? Try watching the netgraph in game for red bars (open it by typing /netgraph 1, close with /netgraph 0). If you're seeing those when you're having the lag issues, then it's most likely network related.

Personally, I'd stick with the 260 as that's already fairly good card (IMO, there hasn't been enough improvement to warrant an upgrade yet). If your mobo/CPU are lower end (or the amount of RAM), I'd upgrade those first. Although that really depends on what you do with the machine, and what other hardware you have in it (I tend to jump between various intensive tasks a lot, so I never focus on a singular piece of hardware )
  15. Yeah, that makes sense, and is consistent with how other timed powers along those lines work (i.e. the Jump Pack's timer is reset upon zoning). I have a feeling the Devs will consider this a low priority bug, as it doesn't really unbalance them (you'll have to be frequently zoning to be able to abuse it... which is highly inconvinent and'd lower your performance).

This forces me to conclude that it is a server issue. It seems to either have trouble 'letting go' as someone said, or it takes a while to generate the instance.
That's very consistent with all the data we already generated. Upon first entry into a mission, it always takes longer, most likely generating the instance. Zoning into an already-existing instance will be much faster. The combination of those two pieces of information leads me to believe that the handshake to the new region (generally) doesn't take long (~3 seconds for me), while the mapserver appears to start up slow (it's even worse when entering a base with a huge amount of items).
  17. I'd recommend uninstalling your current nvidia drivers, rebooting into safe mode, running Driver Sweeper (or a similar utility) to erase the left over bits of the nvidia drivers, then shut down. Now, with the computer off, take the video card out, and carefully clean the fan with a qtip or something similar, then reseat the card in the computer, carefully making sure it's seated properly. Then you can go ahead and boot it up, install the current driver, and then see how it goes from there.

Your issue is related to a driver/hardware error. If it's on the software side, then it's possible to fix, if it's on the hardware side, it's only possible to fix it with a replacement.

I'd say lower your settings all the way while in safe mode, then restart normally, then slowly up them and find where it fails, then back down a tad and you've got the sweet spot.
  19. I did some testing:

    First screen - Second Screen
    21.0 - 4.2
    20.7 - 2.7
    19.5 - 3.5
    20.0 - 3.9
    20.6 - 2.5

That was on The Pilgrim's Retrieve Computer Information mission, from Oz. Each time the mission was reset between runs. Have to say that was longer than I expected, but the second screen was also much shorter than I expected.

    Load times when not reset:
    First screen - Second Screen
    3.1 - 3.0
    3.2 - 2.5
    2.7 - 2.5
    3.2 - 2.6

This, to me, suggests that the handing off the character/connecting to the mapserver is only taking ~3 seconds for me. I'd bet, than the other ~17 seconds is initializing the MapServer (the time to zone back into Oz was basically the same, with maybe a second or two extra on the second screen).

    Edit:

I've actually logged off and had the sounds continue after I arrived back at the login screen (the train & environment sounds... don't think I heard powers).

That just seems far too huge of a coincidence to dismiss outright, it's not unusual for ISPs to have issues with network partners (and their 『ISPs』 standard policy is deny deny deny).

Might want to try running traceroutes to 216.107.240.3, as well as use the NC/CoX network diagnostic utility (which, apparently, is on a busted FTP server last time I checked).

If this assumption is true, why the hell is the server taking so long these days to figure out where I'm zoning into?
Not sure exactly, but I'm pretty sure the first screen is you connecting to the map server, as well as the last one handing you/your character off to the map server..
  22. Let me guess: Cox Cable, possibly in Tulsa? See this thread and join your brethern in misery.

Yes, just literally copy the entire directory. Once you get to the new system, copy the updater to your desktop, then run it, and once it starts downloading, close it. Now, copy over your backed up installation over the new installation. Once that completes, you should be able to start the updater normally and it should work fine.

    Quote:
If I can, Is it faster to do it that way? Or is it the same amount of time?
It's far, far, far, far, far, far faster to just backup your installation. As in, 30 minutes vs 12+ hours (+- 12 hours).
  24. Your video card's drivers are out of date, you should update them (especially if they're the ones that Alienware installed... never trust OEM provided drivers!). Also, if you're running any Skinning applications, you might wanna have it ignore CoX while you're at it (although that usually causes a freeze at startup, not your issue), since Alienware generally includes that.
