  1. I really don't like procs in auras, they only have a 20% chance of firing every 10 seconds (tried Arctic Air with a lot of procs and found it underwhelming). I find the best slotting for damage auras to be 2 dam/end and 2 acc/dam/end (2x multistrike and 2x scirocco), it almost maxes your endred and damage - if you have some global acc bonuses, or kismet unique, tactics, etc, you won't notice the low acc (42%ish) in this setup. You can then even add a proc or two if you have the spare slots.

But well I see in your sig you have a fire/kin, you could try some procs on him to see if you like it since you'll be damage capped after a fulcrum shift anyway. I'm totally against procs in any aura power but a few people like them.

    Taunt. Why not?

Taunt, the power does a better job of gaining and retaining aggro AND if cases, when a heavy dmg blaster is doing an excellent job of drawing aggro because he/she is pwning face, then I am glad to have "Taunt", press it, and draw that group of runaways back to me and away from squishies.

I don't even bother with the arguments that this or that aura or effect does a great job of aggroing. The way I see it, whatever you can do to gain and hold aggro, which does not involve using "Taunt", you can do better by having 'Taunt' and using it along with it.

Pulling from a distance with Taunt is also tactically more sound to do in some situations.

    My two cents.

    Have fun.
Totally agree with this, based on my experience on the 'best taunt aura Tanker' (Ice/Fire) and my Fire/Fire Blaster who was always drawing aggro from other Tankers (maybe because of all the dot from Fire, i don't know, he was the only blaster I played past 30).

Taunt makes managing aggro so much easier, and from a distance, especially now with the range debuff.

I could grab all the aggro with my Ice Tanker by superspeeding through all the mobs and attacking them, but it was tiresome compared to binding Taunt to a key and calling the mobs to me.And as Commando wrote, it's much better tactically to draw attention to you from a distance. You can prevent deaths more effectively this way, like taunting the mobs the blaster just threw a fireball at.
  3. Yeah I'd like that. I made some Io'ed out softcapped elec/shield/blaze builds for the endgame and farms, skipping some attacks I'd certainly pick while leveling. Plus I never leveled a /SD toon.

    Fun scrapper

Yeah, only Invul and Shields have real aggro auras (WP has too but it's very weak). The damage auras only have taunt effects on brutes and tankers.

Although Dark Armor is not bad at 'holding' enemies since you mez all the minions with, say, OG. That allowed my DM/DA to pseudo-tank quite well when the Tanker couldn't handle it (psi damage on a Fire tanker, -def blasts on an Ice tanker...)

Well I tried on an elec/shield/blaze, not too happy with the recharge, but got the defs to 47/46/44 (although I'd personally just put a Posi Blast set in Fireball for +rech and +recov and leave AoE at 42%):

  6. Well you can have full stealth by placing a stealth IO in S. Speed or even in sprint. IO+SS gives you full invis in pve. And NEVER slot Eagle's Claw for Stun, that's your hard hitter.

Here's a build with great regen, +HP, lots of recovery and capped defenses (well AoE is 44.7%, it can be 45% if you use a def IO instead of the LoTG in Lucky).

  8. Well if it helps, I took my Em/Nin to 50 teaming all the way, before the Stalker buffs, I leaded a lot of teams but had no problems getting invites. This was on Freedom btw.

I don't know if there is resistance on high end TFs such as RSF and LGTF because when I did them on my Stalker I was teaming mostly with the Repeat Offenders so I could bring any toon I wanted because they knew me and stuff.

But hey, a nice VG/SG, joining server channels and global friends can eliminate any problem you may face in finding teams.

  10. Yeah ToDs suck in price, but I have a topic discussing whether to go for s/l or melee on my db/elec and the scrapper experts said I'd be better with positionals (and going for melee helps a lot your s/l blocking some ranged attacks too), but ToDs aren't as pricy blueside. If you don't want hasten you can replace it with maneuvers and 3-slot it with HOs or def/ends, but I think for farming Hasten is more important especially give the recharge on KoB and FootStomp.

I'd maybe get Gloom instead of Soul Tents because Gloom is so good for your ST attack chain (again according to the scrapper attack chain experts), but you'd lose some defense (and gain ranged/nrg if you slotted say, 6 thunderstrikes).
  11. Well here's my try. Same recharge, much higher melee 34.5%, higher s/l and hey, Hasten! Slotted boxing with the KC set because I see no use in getting Jab.

Oh and please post the datachunk, I find it a bit bothersome to download the build from the link and having to delete it later

  12. Thank you very much! I can wait until 30 since it's so fast to level nowadays (got to 22 in like 10 hours). Guess I"ll put common 30 IOs at 27 and start IO'ing the toon later when I get more slots
  13. Thanks Cat! And at what level should I roll them? When I left the game I though 'at least I have the money to purp out a toon if I come back'... Now I see my 800 mil can't buy a purple set

And wow that sucks, my fault for not looking at how much recipes are meritwise but such a long tf and not even a chance to buy one? Not cool (yeah I know I'm late complaining about the system lol)
  14. I know this must've been asked a thousand times, but I just returned since i13 and I never got any merits because I was already hardly playing the game.

Soooo my new 22 scrapper finished a Synapse last time I played and I got 59 merits (58 for the TF + 1 for Babbage).

Considering I will be IO'ing this toon only at 35-40ish, what would be the best thing for me to do in relation to those merits so I can earn money out of whatever is better (buying a specific recipe? random rolls at some level? I dunno )

    Thanks!
  15. Is Mud Pots really worth it, with its tiny radius and high end cost? I was wondering about earth/earth too since I never played neither. Oh and is S. Smash a mag 3 hold like Mids says instead of mag 4 like in other ATs?

Hey Siolfir, I don't wanna derail the thread, but which powers do you consider skippable on Energy Assault? I wanna make a something/nrg and evry time I try I want to pick almost all the powers.... Is P. Bolt worth slotting since you have to get it anyway? What about P. Blast, seems better than bone smasher to me since it's ranged and does almost the same damage, although it has no chance to stun and causes KB.
  17. I did some tweaks (maybe you won't like them), but I put your KB protection in SS. If it stayed on Dark Embrace, you wouldn't have -KB when exemplared below 36.

And why did you mix 35 decimations with lvl 40 ones? This way you'll lose the rech bonuses exemplared below 37, keep them all at 35.

I didn't touch your powers but Dark Obliteration with a Posi set would be better than Spore Burst with the purple set IMO, the set bonuses are similar and you'd actually use D.Oblit for some AoE damage, losing only 3.75% rech total.

  18. Yeah you can use Terrify as an opener. Mine's slotted with 5 posis + 1 recharge IO but I'm a mind troller so every bit of damage counts.

Mass Conf and TD are not every-mob power, the recharges are hella long, good openers tho.

Telekinesis I like on my troller just because Mind has no reliable way to set up AoE containment in teams (solo Mass Hyp will do fine) so it might be not very useful for doms. I suggest you try it out with 2 endredux IOs minimum.

The most popular combo for Mind/ is /Fiery Assault because both sets can be played from range, but I think it would go well with anything on Doms. But it's mostly ST too. For Aoe, /psi and thorns would be better, /ice could be good too if you take frost breath (ISC you're taking anyway right?)
  19. OP, get rid of Melt Armour, it sucks. Only the thermal version is good.
  20. What this thread is on the second page, WTF?
  21. The PvP guys are gonna complain that the purple sleep proc (chance for placate) isn't on the to-do list since it's procing 100% of the time on some psi blaster power (Will Dom I think).
  22. Oh well back to the drawing board to see if I can still get some decent ranged def since the BoTZs are getting nerfed. Didn't feel like playing the game today but at this pace I'll be 50 in less than 2 weeks I think. When I started playing in i9 it took me 3 months to get my 1st toon to 50, and playing a LOT every day lol.

Edit: here we go, about the same melee def as before maneuvers (35.1%), ranged at 20.1%, AoE at 17%, but no Hasten

  23. Oh I thought you had ignored the warning like i did lol.

When I downloaded it correctly it also started up showing PvP numbers.
  24. Kioshi

    My Brute - Game

Had forgotten about this game, I played it when I took a break from Coh, like 1.5 years ago. I beat Turbo and Impish Kat

  25. I wouldn't rule out Dark Miasma, I find it awesome. Great heal, great debuffs, a rez-debuff-stun power, Fearsome stare, a pet.... Combined with Fire it's a monster solo from level 6 (Tar Patch + Rain of Fire + Fireball), and a sonic/dark is a great force multiplier. I have an old build planned softcapped for s/l/e defense and at 39% neg, it's dark/dark but I think you can adapt it to other primaries:
