MA/SR with Stealth

I'm working on a build for a MA/SR Scrapper and want to keep Stealth in the build as part of the character theme. As such, I pick up Stealth early on. I get around well enough with Ninja Run, especially when I get a little help from a Kin. I'd also like to keep Recall Friend available sometime around the mid-levels to help gather up the team or for stealthing missions.

According to Mids' I should have just over the defense softcap with this setup. If anyone has comments or suggestions I'd love to hear them. I figure I can play around with some of the powers/slots on the later powers if need be or do something like swap Hurdle and Swift if it's worth it.

Thanks!

Anyone have some suggestions or other critique on this build? This will be my first 50 and really my first build so would like to make sure I'm not doing something goofy.

I did notice I'd put an Endurance IO in Focused Senses when I meant it to be Def/Rec. I was thinking of swapping out Conserve Power in favor of Focused Accuracy. Any thoughts on this or the other powers I have selected?

Thanks!

My suggestion would be to drop Elude. If you're achieving soft cap then just about all it'll do for you is give you a reason to burn blues when it crashes.

Unless you're specifically fighting foes that do a ton of -def

I had some trouble with the Praetorian clockwork, but nothing I couldn't handle with unorthodox strategy.

Thanks for the feedback Mercator.
I threw in Elude with the idea it could cover me on those times where I dove in over my head or was soloing something I haven't done yet. I've no experience soloing AVs nor have I seen how much stuff will get into -Def on me. Also figured the bonus Regen would be useful. It seemed more worthwhile than Conserve Power. I had thought of picking up Energy Torrent though for another AE...
The upcoming changes to BotZ will drop my from ~47 Melee/Ranged Def to ~45.2 Def... still Softcapped (right?) but a lot less wiggle.

I wouldn't take Lucky, Evasion, Elude, Cripling Axe Kick, and only take one of Hurdle or Swift. In fact, I always take hurdle as it help with vertical as well as horizontal movement.

For your stealth/ghosting needs, I would pick up an Unbounded +stealth 15. Bid on it ASAP after making the toon. It should be only around 15m if I remember correctly, but there are none on the market. In a pinch, to get your full invis, you could chuck the +Stealth that looks like a clock in rec Friend, but it would only last 2 min.

All the good stuff already happens in Crushing Impact by five of them. And if you're going to load up Stamina w Performance Shifters, why stop at 5? Six is the goal.

Below is my rushed and probably error filled build but it gets some of the things I believe in for this concept in. I overwent the cap on Ranged, not sure how, I wasn't always checking the totals. I removed some pricey stuff but added in LotG all over the place. And some of the pool stuff, I just added in there. I don't have strong feelings toward Phase Shift [just buy the recipe, actually] but with CJ, Stealth, Fitness, and Teleport pools already there, pickings were slim.

The key thing, and I did this on a fire/kin, is getting that +Stealth IO and Stealth at 12. You'll be past Invisible. But, stub your toe and you're bright as day. And that's why I didn't slot Stealth for defense. It's a waste. Stub that toe, get shot, or whatever, and no def there. Better to slot CJ, which isn't too bad an idea.

This isn't perfect, might be much worse than yours, but there were just a few ghost concept things that didn't work with me. Especially since you're only be stealthed.

And the reason I ditched all AOE defense...I'm not sure why you'd ever need it. Which enemy has AOE thats significant?

So having no Defense at all to AOEs, not taking full advantage of SR's scaling Resists (the third passive is as valuable as the fist two combined due to stacking) and skipping MA's third-best attack is a good idea?

I really need to get cracking on that MA/SR guide I've been meaning to write.

Well you can have full stealth by placing a stealth IO in S. Speed or even in sprint. IO+SS gives you full invis in pve. And NEVER slot Eagle's Claw for Stun, that's your hard hitter.

Here's a build with great regen, +HP, lots of recovery and capped defenses (well AoE is 44.7%, it can be 45% if you use a def IO instead of the LoTG in Lucky).

I tend toward Swift as Hurdle you have to actually jump to get the boost from. Hurdle can require a bit more finess at times. Also with NR's sort of climb ability, Jump pack and Raptor pack I can get over most obstacles without much difficulty. Not aways as quick/smooth as having passive hurdle, but managable. I figure I'll pick up Hurdle on my current crap build to see what I think of it, then pick accordingly.

That does seem worthwhile to add in either way. Unbounded Stealth has a better stealth range listed than the Stealth ability itself. O_o Any idea how much of Stealth's Defense bonus is lost when attacking? I had a bit of cushion before but changes to BotZ will hurt that.

While there's not much of a set bonus from Crushing Impact at 6, the Slot itself still gives a bonus. I guess could drop in a Proc based IO or the like.
Most builds I see with Performance Enhancer stop at 3. I thought the 4 & 5 set bonus (minor end rec and DamageBuff) were worth getting but the 6 piece bonus (AoE Def) wasn't needed as AoE was already my highest Defense.

You ended up with about 24% more Accuracy from all the LotG whereas my initial build has 7.5% more Damage (Red Fortune, etc). How much does that high Accuracy play in?

Please do!! :P Most of what I could find was many issues old or the links to them no longer worked.

Aurelina Berry - MA/SR Scrapper
Mul Berry - Ice/Dark Defender
Straw Berry - Fire/Therm Controller
Blu Berry - Storm/Ice Defender
Naikelea - ElecM/SD Brute

Re: CAK omission
My first MA, took to 50, and didn't take CAK due to the horrid animation. Respecced into it and wasn't impressed. Not sure if people love it for DPS or DPA but it wasn't my bag and I did fine without it.

Re: No AoE def
Tell me who, which enemy, I should fear not having AoE def? Now, that said, in my rush I decided to leave it out and then took lots of crap out of the pools. I'd definitely take it, but capping AoE wouldn't be my first priority. I'm not going to edit my previous post though, as it's been commented on.

Yes, Pleeeeeese, write a MA/SR guide. No one writes much MA and SR gets no attention.

Re: Stealth IO
You get the Stealth IO and run the Stealth power at the same time. You can also get the Stealth power and run SS with it, but I run into walls. Whatever you put it in, when activated, will make you and your costume clear for 2 min after you turn it off. So, bear that in mind if you think you'll hate having your costume messed up. SS+Stealth will let you be fashionable as soon as the Stealth is turned off.

If you're soloing AVs, which while not the fastest, MA/SR is fully capable of doing so, you'll need AoE Def capped for some AVs. This is really the biggest benefit, but there are plenty of mobs that use AoE attacks.

As far as the Stealth IO, why waste a power pick on Stealth, whose +Def gets reduced when you attack? (and let's be honest, we're Scrappers...that's what we do.) Get Super Speed and a Stealth IO and you're golden. I usually place the Stealth IO in Sprint as that frees up a slot, which I usually use to assist slotting BotZ in SS.

Exactly what I was trying to say, but with more phrase better. Words more good.

ETA: But I run into walls.
