Why Mind Control?
Yeah you can use Terrify as an opener. Mine's slotted with 5 posis + 1 recharge IO but I'm a mind troller so every bit of damage counts.
Mass Conf and TD are not every-mob power, the recharges are hella long, good openers tho.
Telekinesis I like on my troller just because Mind has no reliable way to set up AoE containment in teams (solo Mass Hyp will do fine) so it might be not very useful for doms. I suggest you try it out with 2 endredux IOs minimum.
The most popular combo for Mind/ is /Fiery Assault because both sets can be played from range, but I think it would go well with anything on Doms. But it's mostly ST too. For Aoe, /psi and thorns would be better, /ice could be good too if you take frost breath (ISC you're taking anyway right?)
Well, the AoE is "lacking" for Energy Assault, but having a 15' radius for Whirling Hands isn't horrible - and is something that I'd like to see on all of the versions of it. It's just that it's the only AoE available in the set, and all of the other secondaries have at least 2.
But really, why Mind Control? I've said it before - if something attacks you, you let them do it. There's more control than you really need; just having Confuse alone means that it works well at high levels. Malta have lots of stuns that last forever, right? Now you do, too! Masterminds want a carnie powerset, but you've had one forever!
Throw in Energy Assault (Little Bunny Pew Pew is my 50 Mind/Energy) and you get Total Focus for reliable extra hard control, Bone Smasher for another fairly reliable stun, and Power Push - which actually does good damage on top of having a 1.4x accuracy multiplier - gives a decent timeframe to let your powers recharge and get a second chance to mez on a mob you may have missed.

Fiery gets you Fire Breath for AoE and Embrace for even more damage, though - it really depends on what you want out of your secondary.

Does this combination pretty much do just fine for Mind Control at higher levels? I know that when solo, I can lock down a decent sized spawn and just go to town at my own leisure, but I want to know if i can take charge and lead the group with these controls... |
Terrify is fantastic, just don't open fights with it, since you'll eat an alpha before they start cowering (bounce round a corner if you must). I would recommend keeping Mass Hypnosis if you've got room, it's pretty handy as it's got a low recharge, doesn't aggro and can be used to interesting effect in nasty situations (the LRSF!).
As for TK, I never cared for it much, it may be useful in extreme emergencies as a panic button but as you amass more recharge you'll find that your other controls are up often enough that you probably won't use it. Doms don't generally need to worry about control stacking either, since they can hit mag 4 easily enough. It can be used in pvp to drop rad toggles I think, but that's about it.
I realize how potent the Mag 4 sleep is for taking out bosses in a single shot (but other teammates don't), and that my only on demand aoe control until 26 is a sleep as well.
That being said, I absolutely love Total Domination, Terrify and Mass Confusion.

Side note: I have always wanted an Energy melee/blast character, so i was eying the Assault set... but reading that the only aoe is rather lacking.... kinda sucks.
