I want a ???/Earth dom

I'd like to roll an Earth Assault dom because I'm intrigued by all the melee, but I'm not sure what primary to take. I'd like one with a high damage pet, so ice, earth, or fire. Is there any significant difference in crowd control between ice and earth? Would Arctic Air or Volcanic Gasses be more useful? If I went fire, would attempting to run hot feet and mud pots at the same time be effective or just endurance suicide? Also, I've seen mentions here and there about ice/earth doms being AV soloers, can someone explain to me what it is that allows them to solo AVs?

Earth is quite a bit better at control than Ice, in my opinion.

As for those two powers, I'm not even sure how to compare them; they really aren't very similar. Volcanic Gases is a powerful AoE hold on a fairly long recharge; AA is an aura slow/confuse/fear that you can run as long as you have the endurance to do so. Both are very good powers.

i have a lvl 39 fire/earth dom atm, yes running both hotfeet and mud pots is extremely end heavy (unless you heavily slot on end reductions) and even then you will still blow through blues like candy and need domination like every couple mobs

i think earth assault is a cool set, but with fire control its too end heavy, its good with fire control because you get a lot of stacking mezzes (hold and seismic smash, fissure for stun, and mud pots for immob), so it does have a lot of slotting potential

You, ideally, want a very End-light set for Earth because it chugs your blue bar like no one's business. I'd recommend either Ice (since Ice Slick's really all you need to lock down a mob) or Plant (because Seeds of Confusion is still completely hilarious in most cases).

Noted. I went Earth/Earth, I worked it out and had about the same number of power choices as ice. Decided I'd prefer stalagmites and volcanic gasses to arctic air, and I can just use earthquake like ice slick anyway.

Is Mud Pots really worth it, with its tiny radius and high end cost? I was wondering about earth/earth too since I never played neither. Oh and is S. Smash a mag 3 hold like Mids says instead of mag 4 like in other ATs?

No Mud Pots is really not worth it.

I went with a Fire/Earth without Mud Pots and proccing up Hot Feet and Fire Cages. Quite a strong build IMO and very good against EBs. I'm not by nature likely to solo an AV ... I simply do npt have that sort of patience, but if I was going to do it with a Dom this is the one I'd do it with.

Yeah got a fire/earth dom finished up to fifty and to a spot I am happy with. Very nice combo I believe. They mesh very well together and could solo AVs if you did take the extra time into the build.

Any builds you could share for a perma earth/earth just to give me some ideas? I tried making one but I ran out of slots because I wanted 3 powers from Mu Mastery (PSink, Charged Armor and the Mu pet because he heals you). I was on the fence on getting tremor, I skipped it on my sm/elec brute... Maybe Fissure is enough at the endgame?

I would not say it is the be all, if you are going to push AoE then tremor would be partially needed with Fissure to make it really viable. YRMV.
