((Thanks for reminding me, I totally forgot I posted in here. Unfortunately, I think I'm going to sit this one out, sorry about that))
Jake had been staring at the empty duffle for some time, torn between filling it or putting it away. He'd got the call to go, but things had changed since he'd told the spook he'd do the job. For one thing, the guys deal wasn't so attractive anymore; other strings had been pulled to get his parole lifted.
It went against the grain for him to back out of a job though. Not that he was worried about getting hassle from the spooks; he'd had plenty of that in the past. It just wasn't the way he operated.
But things were coming together for him, in all sorts of ways. He'd decided to get out of the game and pay attention to the stuff that was really important. Disapperaring off the face of the Earth for who-knew-how-long could really mess things up.
An honest-to-God alien planet, though. He'd had a pretty full life, but he'd never been to one of those. The Moon once, but that didn't really count. This could be the opportunity of a lifetime.
Finally, and not without some regret, Jake stuffed the duffle back into the bottom of the closet. They would just have to get someone else to bring them their recordings back. -

Well, they could get it from TNT if they felt it was that important.
[/ QUOTE ]
Or they could just do what I do. Write down a list of all my alts, with powersets and update level anytime one dings. Because I have a terrible memory
(And have no idea what TNT is, other than an explosive or a delivery firm) -
About 16 months for Kiken, my first.
About 6 months for my second and third.
And I still haven't managed to get a Villain to 50 (35 my highest) -

Has anyone ever leveled throuhg to 50 only taking pool/Ancillary powers from lvl 6 onwards?
lvl 1 One Primary and One Secondary
lvl 2 One Primary OR One Secondary
lvl 4 One Primary OR One Secondary
lvl 6 One Pool Power (1st Pool)
lvl 8 One Pool Power (2nd Pool)
etc
You get 24 powers by lvl 50, so the first 4 powers from your Primary/Secondary plus 4 pools each with 4 powers and all 4 powers from 1 Ancillary pool = 24 powers.
Would think it's possible, but you're going to have very limited firepower. Which pools would you go with?
[/ QUOTE ]
A number of people did this on the US servers back when I was playing on them. You weren't actually allowed to use any powers from your Primary and Secondary (taking passives was cheating) and the real men chose Controllers rather than Tanks so they didn't get an hp boost
They actually weren't that bad, especially if you had a few regularly team together and all take the Leadership pool. -
I had a Man build back on the US servers, I keep toying with the idea of starting up one again and getting it to 50.
-
Kiken might actually get around to doing all those little jobs they have for him in the RWZ.
Major Trauma wants to finally finish rebuilding his resources so that he can get back into the International mercenary business and away from the Isles (ie, I really need to get a villain to 50 so I can finally try the VEATS)
Iron Anderson just wants to get a second date... -

Nonsense.
You assume the sliding scale starting at minus at lv1 and it moves at a linar fashion according to levels.
NO! I have not even specify how that sliding scale works.
You read me wrong and assume too much.
[/ QUOTE ]
Uh, not to be funny, but you really need to explain yourself better then. Because I read it the same way as Ravenswing. -
Yeah, but I believe those mods are only client side. YOU get to see purple Rad blasts, everybody else around you still sees green. Changing the powers in-game is much harder, because they have said that the colour is actually coded into the power.
-
Both. At the moment I am playing more on Union, because that's where I had free slots for my newest alts. Eventually I will get round to buying more slots for both.

Here's an idea... Come i14, MAKE THESE!
[/ QUOTE ]
The one problem with that is that I have my sneaking suspicions that I won't be able to, and I just know that I won't be able to get a custom designed Red Riding Hood model built and inserted into the game.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, if they allow us to make important NPCs with some version of the costume creator, then people might be able to get pretty close
[/ QUOTE ]
No... we're talking non-standard costume parts here. I mean, a corset in blood red is a must.
[/ QUOTE ]
It sort of already exists. Its something with buckles on, I can remember that much in my half dead state >< accursed illness...
[/ QUOTE ]
You mean Tops With Skin > Leather? -
Awww. I thought it was going to be something to do with Sean Connery being an outer-space sheriff!
On no I didn't!
Oh yes I did! -
I'll try and get to the early one, should be having dinner about 3, so I should be able to squeeze it in. The later session clashes with Doctor Who though...
-
Hard to choose, but at the moment the Kheldian changes, plus non-toggle drop, plus having two builds, means that I'm playing my PB consistently for the first time in over a year.
-
And, of course, you don't actually get knocked back, which saves some time if you don't have to get back into range.

How useful in combat tho I'm not sure considering a lot of combat takes place in caves and corridors where head room is limited.
[/ QUOTE ]
Very useful when those corridors are filled with KoA flinging Caltrops about. -
Superman is possibly the worse example to choose of a hero who can't use his powers in civilian guise. There are countless examples of him using super speed, super breath, eye beams and such without anybody catching on.
It might be nice to have some sort of 'undercover' missions, where you had to work through them without using your powers, but for a general civilian thing I'm in the 'probably too much work for too little gain' camp. -
I actually prefer PuGs that are fighting above their weight, as long as they are semi-competent and making headway without people dropping dead too often.
But then, I enjoy the fights, and don't care about the xp. -
[ QUOTE ]
Maybe wizard robes? oh wait... theres the magic pack coming too....
[/ QUOTE ]
People have been asking for robes like the CoT have since the game launched. People keep moaning that the population is too low, then people moan when the Devs give players what they ask for. It is true, you can't please eveerybody -
As far as I'm concerned, merits are a nice little bonus that I get while doing what I'd normally be doing.
But then, I don't care about getting uber-setted. -
The phone rang a number of times before Jake Anderson woke and answered it.
"What the hell do you want at this time of the morning? What? Him again? It's where? And there's no fighting needs to be done? Then why the hell are you calling me?"
Slamming the phone down, Jake rolled over in bed and tried to get back to sleep. -

I really do hope the 5th Column are making a major comeback; to me they always seemed to have more style as bad guys than the Council.
[/ QUOTE ]
But there the same as the 5th just differnt names and costumes.
I think what we will get is a 5th invasion to mark the 5th year of the game but i doubt very much that will be it the coming storm will be i hope something different.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, but they were Nazis. It is always inherently more stylish, and satisfying, to give a right hook to a Nazi! -
[ QUOTE ]
Oh, and a really big BaBomb type bomb that you have to run around with for hours and hours, because sometimes, you just can't get rid of a bomb!
[/ QUOTE ]
This alone would enough for me!
I really do hope the 5th Column are making a major comeback; to me they always seemed to have more style as bad guys than the Council.
And if they are coming back, let Reichsman get in on the action! -
Jake Anderson watched as the guy entered the diner and walked over to his booth. Non-descript suit, non-descript haircut, non-descript face. Definitely a spook of some kind. The guy sat down, ordered a coffee and then remained silent while Jake finished his lunch.
"Okay buddy you're polite, or smart, enough not to interrupt my food. That gets you five minutes, so spill it."
"Thank you Mister Anderson. Tell me, are you aware of the current recruiting drive Portal Corps are undertaking for an interstellar mission?"
"I've seen the posters. They're pretty short on detail."
"This is true. However, the branch of government that I represent would like to hire you to participate in this mission. In return, in addition to a substantial fee, your sentence will be commuted to time served. No more parole, a totally clean sheet."
"That's pretty generous. So what's the catch?"
"We would simply like you to carry a few devices with you on this mission. Nothing that would endanger you or the mission, merely scanning devices. We would like raw data from another world that doesn't come filtered through another agency."
"Uh-huh. Last question, why me?"
"Because you are well known to complete a job once you have taken it, and to keep quiet about it. And because you are tough enough to have a good chance of returning with the data."
Jake thought it over for a few minutes.
"I don't like going into a job this blind, but you got a deal. I'll sign up for the job. But that doesn't mean I'll be picked to go."
"We understand that. If you are not selected, we will pay you a small fee for your time and your parole will continue. If you are selected, you can contact me on this number and we will ensure you receive the devices before you leave."
The man slipped a card onto the table, stood and walked out. Jake wasn't surprised to see that the card held nothing but a number. He waved over to the waitress for a refill of coffee. He'd drink that, smoke a cigarette, then head over to put his name down for this mystery mission...
