A poster on Portal Corp and FC buildings states that Portal Corp is looking for willing heroes to help rescue a planet in this universe, it invovles flight to Africa and then moved to a pan-galactical rift sight in Africa. It then goes on to state that it could happen at any time so please leave contact details with Portal Corp....

An hour after the Poster was put up, a man in a cheap brown suit entered the doors of Portal Corp. Some time passes before he exited, stuffing a huge amount of information, maps and photoes into his a manilla folder. He pulls out a mobile phone and dials the keys.

"Hello, Red Commissar...I have the information you asked me to get..."

Deep within a bunker near the Terra Volta reactor, machines whirred and roared with life, constructing robotic shells and intricate gadgets, a single blue automoton overlooking the construction. Eyes glowing a dim red setting an eerie tone against the machinery. It's eyes fading out, it's body stopping with unnatural steadiness.

At Portal Corps, an extra name appeared on a list of Heroes for an inter-planetary mission. Commander Beet's eyes lit up back in his workshop, getting back to work.

Jake Anderson watched as the guy entered the diner and walked over to his booth. Non-descript suit, non-descript haircut, non-descript face. Definitely a spook of some kind. The guy sat down, ordered a coffee and then remained silent while Jake finished his lunch.

"Okay buddy you're polite, or smart, enough not to interrupt my food. That gets you five minutes, so spill it."

"Thank you Mister Anderson. Tell me, are you aware of the current recruiting drive Portal Corps are undertaking for an interstellar mission?"

"I've seen the posters. They're pretty short on detail."

"This is true. However, the branch of government that I represent would like to hire you to participate in this mission. In return, in addition to a substantial fee, your sentence will be commuted to time served. No more parole, a totally clean sheet."

"That's pretty generous. So what's the catch?"

"We would simply like you to carry a few devices with you on this mission. Nothing that would endanger you or the mission, merely scanning devices. We would like raw data from another world that doesn't come filtered through another agency."

"Uh-huh. Last question, why me?"

"Because you are well known to complete a job once you have taken it, and to keep quiet about it. And because you are tough enough to have a good chance of returning with the data."

Jake thought it over for a few minutes.

"I don't like going into a job this blind, but you got a deal. I'll sign up for the job. But that doesn't mean I'll be picked to go."

"We understand that. If you are not selected, we will pay you a small fee for your time and your parole will continue. If you are selected, you can contact me on this number and we will ensure you receive the devices before you leave."

The man slipped a card onto the table, stood and walked out. Jake wasn't surprised to see that the card held nothing but a number. He waved over to the waitress for a refill of coffee. He'd drink that, smoke a cigarette, then head over to put his name down for this mystery mission...

Yet another poster appeared with further details in the Portal Corps lobbies:

"This planet is the home to rising star Leah Anima and she will be leading this expedition. The world has been untouched by man from the begining to now so we expect you to try and keep to yourselves. This mission requires the will to not give up no matter what the odds. If you're involved either contact Leah directly(she can be found at Galaxy City from 9pm onwards) or leave your name and contact details with a Portal Corps secretary.

-That is all."

The people who had applied, very few, got a warning that the operation waas to go ahead soon. And they would be accompanied by a number of AI created for such a purpose. And a few heroes would of noticed a few Scientists trying to pursuaed people to talk to Portal Corps to sign up...

Susan Q saw the poster after finishing her latest mission for Portal Corp. "hmm, looks interesting" and went to put her name down for the mission

Walking out of an office in Portal Corp, a young athletic man in a nondescript casual outfit and a shock of white hair passed by the poster...almost exiting via the door before stopping in his tracks, turning back on himself he walked casually over to the poster and perused the details through mildly glowing eyes before showing a wry smile

"well whaddya know"

Fishing his phone out of his pocket, he punched in a number.

"Hey Dmitri...yeah its me, yeah I asked around...seems the rumours were true, he has been seen in the isles....yeah, better get the team up to speed"

All the appropriate calls were made and now all that was required was for everyone to appear in the meeting room ready for breifing before the flight to Africa, Leah Anima, wearing her white belly-top, trousers and gloves crouched on the table waiting for everyone else to appear...((Time to get this underway.))

The door opened to the entrance of a young athletic male wearing a dark suit and carrying a duffel bag, casually throwing into the corner, he looked around the room...noticing only the young female he smiled, ran a hand through a short crop of shock white hair and sauntered over offering his hand...

" Hey, you must be this *Leah* chick...names Stryke, im here for the expedition..." looking around the room "though looks like we got a wait on our hands"

A young girl with short blonde hair bounced in. She was wearing a small white t-shirt with the words "Alt Rock" emblazoned on the chest and back, matching torn blue denim jeans and pink sneakers. Slung across one shoulder was a pair of dirty but high-tech rollerblades and on her waist laid a utility belt holstering two handguns. "Hey" she muttered, her large, dark gleaming eyes scanning the room like a computer.

Then looking to Leah.

"Hey missy, you got any info on what we're gonna be expectin out there or you keepin that till we get this posse rollin?"

Smiling slightly in a lopsided manner

"Just like to make sure I aint gettin into somethin' im gonna regret"

Leaning back and looking at the ceiling.

Although still smiling, Stryke looked at Leah with a little more of an intent stare, conveying more seriousness behind his affable demeanour.

((Thanks for reminding me, I totally forgot I posted in here. Unfortunately, I think I'm going to sit this one out, sorry about that))

Jake had been staring at the empty duffle for some time, torn between filling it or putting it away. He'd got the call to go, but things had changed since he'd told the spook he'd do the job. For one thing, the guys deal wasn't so attractive anymore; other strings had been pulled to get his parole lifted.

It went against the grain for him to back out of a job though. Not that he was worried about getting hassle from the spooks; he'd had plenty of that in the past. It just wasn't the way he operated.

But things were coming together for him, in all sorts of ways. He'd decided to get out of the game and pay attention to the stuff that was really important. Disapperaring off the face of the Earth for who-knew-how-long could really mess things up.

An honest-to-God alien planet, though. He'd had a pretty full life, but he'd never been to one of those. The Moon once, but that didn't really count. This could be the opportunity of a lifetime.

Finally, and not without some regret, Jake stuffed the duffle back into the bottom of the closet. They would just have to get someone else to bring them their recordings back.

However, it turned out that Smith was not a time-travelling Terminator

Healer Kid looked up as the technician began jabbing buttons on the console before him.

"Hey come on, is this really necessary?"

"Sorry but I'm under orders, none can embark on this mission unless they have had a medical and security screening."

A second man approached him with a small palm reader, "Security I.D. into the scanner please sir."
Healer Kid's clawed hand placed his Hero I.D. into the unit and stepped back.
A green and yellow light flashed a few times. "Hmm, security checks clear, multiple portal uses, other world and dimensions logged. Steve? Hows that medical scan going? We need to get him over to the rest."

"Just, about, done. OK Healer Kid, you're cleared for taking part in the mission."

10 minutes later he was ushered into a room with the rest of the team.

Smiles, or what passes as a smile. (his mutation has taken that of a large reptile)

"Hi Leah, I'm Healer Kid. To be honest I wasn't told much, all I know is that you are the team leader."

He sits as best he can on a chair his wings folding uncomfortably behind him.
