At heart, all of you agree with me.

If you can read minds, what am I thinking right now? -
I was hit by this bug once. Me and a friend were gonna duel in the Arena, and when we zoned in we weren't on an Arena map, we were in someone's mission. Somehow we went from Pocket D's Arena (I was on my Nin/Nin Stalker, and he was on his Katana/SR Scrapper) into someone's "Kill the Snakes" mish redside. Kinda funny, we were both 30-something in someone's lvl 3 mission. The villain, a Robot MM even conned as an enemy to my friend. Her bots couldn't hit him at all XD
It was funny in local.
Me: You know, this doesn't look like the Arena map.
Her: Umm. . .hello?
Friend: Wow, this REALLY isn't the Arena. How'd we get here?
Her: o_o What are you doing in my mission? -

I don't really get how "You are not to use the MA for farming" is anything but clear.

It all depends on what your definition of "is" is. -

Here's that "awesome" song. The original is a 10MB Wave file. I converted it to MP3 for the sake of download. Other than that: it's the full tune.
http://www.mediafire.com/?twdotggx2om
Now imagine listening to that over and over and over and over.
Turning off your PC speakers/volume shouldn't have to be done. They should just get rid of the song or have a check box to kill it. There's nothing wrong with a tune playing for a few seconds when the installer starts... tons of games do it. But they don't play music thru an entire 10 or 20 minute install, because it gets annoying. ESPECIALLY if that song is looping a 30 second tune.
Annoying isn't a strong enough word IMHO... but I'd get modded for saying the alternative.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh cool, thanks for the format/download, I love that song. -

4b) Arachnos was originally an Italian based organization, and also played a role in the rise of Fascism in the government. Did they have any involvement with the 5th Column?
[/ QUOTE ]
This I do know somewhat. Arachnos was a large organization controlled by the Weaver. When Recluse took over, it split up into various groups (Arachnos headed by Recluse, Council by The Center, 5th Column by Requiem).
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, even that's wrong in part.
Arachnos split when Recluse took over, becoming Arachnos and The Council.
5th Column wasn't part of the split because it happened years before Hitler ordered the creation of the 5th Column. It's just when it was created The Council wanted to keep their fingers in it and sent Requiem to infiltrate the 5th Column as a sleeper agent to make the 5th Column into another arm of the Council when ordered to do so.
Requiem just liked being in command more than he liked being the #3 guy in the Council, which is why he commanded his troops to wait for the order to return as 5th Column. -

I hate nachos.
[/ QUOTE ]
I know all the words in the sentence but it just doesn't make any sense.
[/ QUOTE ]
If talking about something like School Lunch nachos, then I hate them too. It's just some stale chips and luke warm cheese whiz.
Real nachos, especially Del Taco's Macho Nachos, now that's dang good.
I miss Del Taco, they don't have them around here in Georgia.
I miss In 'n' Out Burger even more though. -

At first glance, I really don't think the devs want to tie any powersets as closely to Origins as this set is.
Assault Rifle can be a high-tech gun, natural skill, or a magic morphing gun. Something explicitly described as 'Magic Wand' is rather limiting.
[/ QUOTE ]
How do you see a magic morphing gun when you look at the Franken gun, or any of the Weapon Customization options? -
Somehow I doubt he'll take that information Forbin.

I don't think this is a difficult game to pick up, but it is a difficult game to master - if that makes sense? I had to explain some stuff about IO set bonuses to a friend recently, and he's been playing for a while.
[/ QUOTE ]
That I have to agree with. It's fairly easy to pick a character up learn to play it at least relatively competently in a short amount of time, though I still think handing a brand new player a combat level 50, character level 1 character would be a disaster. But the thing is that most of the veteran players would never settle for "relatively competent." They expect people will be good at fighting deep purples with optimised builds, know their place, uphold their roles and instinctively assume what they're supposed to do. I've seen more than a few instances of people being chastised for not knowing how to speed-run an ITF, for instance, and that's before we even get into the "offender vs. healer" debates. Hell, I think I have reasonably competent builds who can handle most anything solo on Tenacious and I've been on the receiving end of this because I don't have Stamina, need to rest and don't measure up to the other optimised 50s.
This is not a hard game to pick up, but just picking it up and being reasonably competent has never seemed like enough, judging by other people's demanding standards.
[/ QUOTE ]
Reminds me of Chess, I started playing that at 10 and picked it up easy. Got my butt handed to me by my private tutor in High School when he learned I played.
One that's even easier to grasp but harder to master would be Go, which I learned about thanks to it being on ye olde timey Gameboy as Spot (you remember him? The old 7up mascot?). Fun game but DANG is it a tough one to master. The tournament games can last several days! -
This whole thread reminds me of one guy on Freedom loudly and proudly claiming that the game would triple its playerbase if the Devs banned RPers from ever playing the game.
But he didn't stop at RPers, he said any and all Non-Farmers should be banned from the game.
His reasoning?
Farmers typically have 2-3 accounts (or even more, look at the RMT people), therefore if non-farmers are banned then the playerbase would double or even triple!
The game would flourish with nothing BUT farms, every mission being a perfectly farmable mission, cutting out the useless text that explains anything. All the in-game clues, souvenirs, contact flavor text, Salvage Info, Enhancement Info, all of it, would be deleted and make room for more farmers. -
From what I can see there's no reason any of them should lack the Widow Blade, but maybe they're going for a damage look to them. The higher damage Widow attacks use the blade while the others don't.
Since Widow claws already have the little blades on the top of the wrist, they could be saying you're grazing them with those instead of full on slashing with the Widow Blade.
But I do agree, all of the attacks should have the widow's blade extend, even the Follow Up clone. -
While leveling up my highest (28 so far) Widow character, I've noticed that only some of the attacks actually have the blade extend from the claws, like Widow Training: Strike and Night Widow Training: Slash
My question is if there's a list, or can someone make a list of all the attacks that use the blade?
I ask because, if possible, I'd like to build my Widow using just the blade attacks. -

Empathy is psychic in nature. However, I was going by the comic book definition in which heroes with Empathy also have the power to control the emotions of others. You can be Empathic person but there is a psychic ability known as "empathy" in which a person has the ability to read the emotions of others by simply being in their presence. In super hero terms it's not unheard of for certain people to develop their ability further to alter the emotions of others.
This isn't possible in COH but it has been displayed by several characters in Marvel comics and I believe one character in DC. As to the other person who said that they'd only learn to care for others. Not the case. You can feel what someone else feels, you can understand the pain, and at the same time you could end up caring more about yourself.
Also, as I said before, what if an Empath who has developed his abilities further ends up going mad? What if feeling everyone's emotions overwhelms the person's brain driving him/her insane? Then at the same time, the person retaliates by attacking/twisting the emotions of those around him? It is theoretically possible for an Empath to be a villain if the person is able to control the emotions of others.
[/ QUOTE ]
There's also Alma from the games FEAR and FEAR 2. In the backstory describing Alma's history it mentions her psychic powers being empathic in nature, specifically zeroing in on everyone's negative emotions, which is what helped send her over the edge into insanity.
Of course, her psionic ability to melt your skin from your bones is a power apart from her empathy (being basic psychotic psychic powers), but she is empathic. Selectively empathic, but still empathic. -

That said, one would hope that whatever Karma mechanic NCNC... Paragon Studios pick, it won't be as... Petty as most of these have been. Most of the time these systems allow a good guy to be good in a generally consistent manner: have principles, do good, don't give into evil. Evil characters, however, aren't so much evil as schizophrenic or compulsive or, more commonly, just plain idiots. Evil on your typical Karma meter is achieved by being a jerk as often as possible, assuming that a character who says mean things and kicks puppies a thousand times is as bad as someone who, say, imposes genocide on an entire species. Evil tends to mean more "jerk" than... Well, "evil."

Reminds me of Yatzee's review of Bioshock.
"There are only two endings, a good one and a bad one and the extreme contrast between them is rather jarring. In the good ending you're a virtuous flower child with love and a smile for all the shiny coated beasts under god's kingdom; and in the bad ending you're some kind of hybrid of Hitler and Skeletor who's very wee is pure liquid malevolence. I'm sick of games that claim to have choice but only come down to either Mother Teresa and Baby Eating." -

.... wait'll you meet Romulus and his Pet NictiRecluse and his henchpeople are so many small, purring kittens compared to that Triad of Terror.
[/ QUOTE ]
Really? Dang, I've beaten Rommy more times than I'd like to count, and that with less than optimal teams, I've never failed taking him down.
The STF though, that's been failed every time I try that, and the last time was with an experienced Team Leader who told us what to do and when. We mowed through the Patrons and even took down the Flyer without incident. Recluse? Took all of us down in seconds, and no amount of coordination worked. -

You can make a highly functional build without stamina.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok, let's take this ball and run with it. What build is "highly functional" without Stamina? On what AT? And don't say regen; tell us something new. After all, the canon argument is that no one needs Stamina; one of the real thigh-slappers I remember was that people who picked up Fitness are "greedy."
And even if you can think up a build, how does that address all the others that cannot move three steps in any direction without it? Rhetorical question only, there.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oddly enough I've been trying to build a Stone/Stone Tanker, a Stone/Stone Brute and a Spine/Dark Scrapper, and even loaded down with End Redux, forgoing recharge in favor of MORE End Redux, and having Stamina 3 slotted; those three sets are STILL having end issues, and that WITH a fair amount of Recovery set bonuses.
I'm still curious if someone could build a Stone/Stone Brute that can fight continuously or a Spine/Dark scrapper that can keep their AoE toggles running, because I can't do that even with Stamina. I'd love to see some builds posted that can do it, because I need the help. -
[ QUOTE ]
In the repeatable RWZ missions, one of the bosses refers to the player as "birth body" I have never quite worked out if this is supposed to mean "un altered" or literaly the rikti's birth body, i.e. you and that rikti are each others alternate self's.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm quite sure that it means a naturally born and unaltered person, there are far too many different Rikti names attached to the boss dialog for it to be your Rikti Self. -

Limb beaty death. Pay attention. :-p Lol.

Which is kinda meh in my book. I'd like to see Captain Spider as the ruler of the Freedom Isles, the last bastion of good under Tyrant's reign of evil.
I mean, there's so much potential if they added in White Scorpion, Spirit Widow, Admiral Dolphin and Praetorian Scirocco.
The Freedom Isles could even look the same as the Rogue Isles, considering it'd be difficult to keep the place clean while fighting to keep it safe.
It still makes me wonder if Praetoria is the name of the world or the city, I kinda liked the comic's name of Shade City for Praetorian Paragon. -

Personly I hope they take there sweet time with it, I hope my current
pre paid time is over right around the time they release so I wont
have to see MM pets in atlas, or have to kick some scrapper off a
villain team thats not in a co-op zone.
[/ QUOTE ]
You should probably cancel your account now, that way you'll be sure you won't have to see it when it does come around. And if your pre-paid time does bleed into what you're so against, simply stop playing, your account will already be canceled and you won't have to worry about it. -
This idea could be cool to have, and could theoretically free up a few bits of resources if an IM client was coded into the chat's system.
I remember this was used in Matrix Online, having a direct AIM client in their chat system. Worked alright for the most part.
The problem of RMTers using it to contact you in-game through AIM would certainly be a problem, and I have no easy idea on how to keep them from using it aside from using an IM's own anti-spammer coding (My own AIM is set to not accept random IMs)
As for just using AIM/WIM/Etc and alt-tabbing to it, that's not always an easy thing to do; before my computer's upgrade I could crash CoH by Alt-tabbing (back then CoH was so fragile on my comp I'd crash the game by clicking on the change costume window), and even now it can make the game hit a few spikes of lag when I get messages through my chat programs (small spikes thankfully).
My significant other's computer is worse still at times. While playing and running AIM I'll get the "Windows is out of virtual memory" warning once every so often, though shutting off AIM fixes it. If it were coded into the game itself that'd be one less program running (and though I don't know how much more memory use it'd add to the game, if someone can code IM programs that use multiple chat bases and still use less resources than the combined originals its linked to, then it couldn't be too much of a system hog to integrate it). -

You can't? When did this happen? I can move the level slider just fine to chose which level zone of a reward I want to roll in.
[/ QUOTE ]
yes but not which LVL IO you will receive... it will always cap at either your max lvl or the IO max level. ( whichever comes first)
so a lvl 50 rolling on a lvl 30 get a Unique Numina... lvl 50 not lv 30 like he wanted

Really? Wow, never knew that happened.
