Quote:This is the main reason I'm so interested, I will admit. Rad is... alright, but it doesn't have the same feel to it as Luminous or Energy Blast. Those two have nice visible, powerful-looking blasts, whereas Rad (to me) feels like it lacks the same 'oomph.' The energy is all diffused and not clustered (save the focused X-ray Beam).None of the KB shanagans of Luminous and Energy Blast? I like it
/sign
It feels less like a blast and more like "I throw my wad of energy at you!", in a sense. -
Quote:I won't maim you, it's just a preference thing. I think knockback can be fun and useful, mostly as A) a survival "get this off me!" power for squishier toons or B) street-sweeping grey mobs and sending them a mile down the street. At the risk of being horribly maimed, I wanna say I like Knockback. That's mostly because I know how to use it. Regardless, I still like the idea of this set.
Scattering even-level enemies constantly, though? Not my idea of fun. I prefer to avoid it.
Let's not turn this thread into a KB vs KD thread though. The powerset sounds fun, but it might need more tweaking. -

Quote:I'm afraid Body or Weapon mastery are the only ones I can stomach taking. I am that much of a stickler for concept, and there's really no other APP/PPP that fits her at all. I don't want her to have elemental powers or shadow blasts, unless someone more creative than I can rationalize her having them when her only real powers are manipulating her bones and having a high pain tolerance.I've got a Spines/Electic at 50. Are you really going to need Body Mastery with WP? I can't load up your build in Mids cause I'm at work, but that seems a little overkill. I'd think strongly about going Redside and picking up Soul Mastery for delicious Shadowmeld and you can grab a ST blast for a little ST damage. My build leans pretty heavily on Power Sink to help manage my end, but it'll get a little better when I finish getting him Agility in his Alpha slot. But that huge boost to Def for the Alpha makes a huge difference. Plus with the huge regen in WP hitting softcap for a few seconds can make a huge difference in survivability. Just beware the animation time.
-
So I've had a Spines/WP scrapper languishing in the low 30's that was my second character created. Her abysmal ST DPS (and the freaking mek-men everywhere in that level range) made her painful to play, but at a friend's insistence I ground out to 32 to get Throw Spines.
Holy $deity. Just... yes.
So now I want to have a build ironed out for her with my semi-limited budgets. I think I did a somewhat-passable job, but I have a few main worries:
- ST DPS: Is it going to suck? I know Spines will never be the ultra-leet AV killer, but I just want to make sure I have enough DPS to down bosses in missions (or Mot once I get that high).
- Overall performance late-game: I have a small concern about the damage being mostly lethal, which I know is heavily resisted by some groups. Is this just a minor inconvenience that can be overcome with the application of moar damage or do I need to find a way to boost my power?
Thanks in advance! I hope I'm not being annoying, but I'm at a loss as to how to double-check my build here.

Quote:This is my main problem with a tighter, sleeker look. I think they're personally in the "Function > Fashion" mindset, so I'm not sure they'd go for sleeker stuff if the bulkier, baggier armor provides better protection since they are fighting against superhumans.Honestly? Yes. It looks like they actually have room under all that *for* said armor - and figure that in such a world, and in such a specialized team (anti-supers) they're going to design and pay for precisely what they need and against what they'll face.
I mean, after all, that's what armor *does.* It evolves for the threats being faced - from paper or leather armor to chain mail to plate to kevlar and ceramics. Why would it need to "look" any different in the COH universe on a fairly well funded, specialist group?
Which would you rather wear? Snazzy armor from Evil Paramilitary Fashion Inc, or bulky armor that might actually stand a chance of letting you take a super-powered punch? -
Not to be rude, but I personally don't see much difference between their current look and your proposed one. At most, it's less baggy and a darker color.
-
-
I'm hoping they add elemental Staves like they did for TW/BS/Katana. Being able to swing around an ice or fire staff would be neat.
-
Quote:I just have to play devil's advocate and say, while the insane light show can get annoying, you can always target the AV's by clicking on their HP bar in the objective-window-thing that comes up in trials.I think your misunderstanding the OP complaint.
Don't you find it difficult to see Nightshade or even Siege sometimes during the fights.
Quote:It is because of all the effects of every power combined into one spot makes for a confusing mess.
The point is that sometimes less is better especially when 24 players are beating down on one toon. -
Quote:Energy Melee getting a port (and fix at the same time as its defensive counterpart did) would be fine with me, but you know what I really, really want?I think lack of taunt aura's is really hurting the perception of scrappers, but hopefully SS will get a port at some point and that should see some more activity here (I would kill for Energy Melee too, again with a balance pass as it goes).
Ice.
Ice Armor and Ice Melee.
Pretty pretty please? -
Quote:That's why it would go into Weave, silly!Kinda weird, no?
I'm also pretty sure Res and defense were never given purples to avoid giving players ridiculous levels of survivability (like that ship hasn't sailed) or possibly because it might just look awkward to them. Like imagine slotting a purple defense set into say... Focused Senses. Now one of your positionals is almost comically disproportionate to others. -
So I've got a Fire/Cold controller that just got Sleet and is on her way to Heat Loss, and I'm really loving it! However, when it comes to making a build for it... I'm really not sure I know what I'm doing. I've got the S/L softcap and decent (30~ish%) Energy Defense, with HL and Hasten being near-perma. Any feedback or tips I should do? If anyone can go over this, I'd greatly appreciate it! It's my first time making a Controller build in mids.

Quote:There's not a proper meme picture to show how okay with this I would be (VERY VERY OKAY).As many of us know, there are a significant number of players who want their Scrappers to have a taunt aura, especially in the damage auras, and an equally significant number who don't want it.
The devs have already shown that they plan on releasing multiple ATO sets.
I propose that one be released for Scrappers that contains a proc granting a 100% chance to apply a moderate Taunt effect to the power you slot it in.
Scrapper players who desire a Taunt aura can slot it in their damage aura to create one, while Scrapper players who DON'T want a Taunt aura can slot it in a single target attack (assuming they want the 6 slot bonus from the set). It's a safe bet that no one will care if the target they just hit with their ST attack is agroed on them, since they would have been anyway.
It ends the debate (sorta) over whether Scrapper damage auras should taunt, while not aggravating the people who don't want them to.
Still leaves Regen and SR out in the cold as far as taunt auras go, but it's better than nothing. -
Quote:I've tried. I even got introduced to her from Buck, but now she refuses to talk to me.... "Find?" Start one yourself - it's a fast TF that gives a useful pet, as well. People know it's fast. They'll hop over and do it.
I guess I should try again on a different character or file a bug report.
On-topic: I'm all for lessening crashes from nukes, like Elec Blast's, but imo they should still have a hefty cost.
Edit: Removed my first post because I was being a jerkbag in it. Go me. -
EDIT: Post redacted. I allowed my frustration over an accolade to boil over and make me sound like an *** (as seen in Bill's quote below). It was neither constructive nor relevant to the topic at hand. Sorry everyone.

Okay, I've tried not to get involved in this argument, but this just hit me the wrong way. "Possibly" does not equal "certainty", at least to me. The way I read that, they're saying full-well they don't know if any good names will be freed up or not.

Quote:Honestly we might need this. This thread's devolved into insults from both sides of the supposed argument. I don't want to be Super Happy Forum Cop, but if this thread keeps going downhill like this, I'm betting a mod will nix it because it's not anything contributing to the game, it's just a shouting match.Wait a sec, not trying to step between you and goat on this
Maybe that'd be for the best though. At least it started out civil. -

Quote:Just to play devil's advocate Agge, he said "was", which to me meant before the revamp. Maybe I was reading it wrong though...I see you haven't paid attention to the DA revamp. For one, Adamastor doesn't spawn there anymore, and for two, it's seriously not vacant anymore.

Quote:This is why on my Crab (longbow techie trying out the legs to try and re-purpose them) I kind of... ignore the first 20 levels and pretend she spent the whole time in her lab. While I would find it extraordinarily convenient, it wouldn't make sense to me to have soldiers of Arachnos starting out blueside.
