Yep. With AS being viable outside of hidden and the stalker ATO in AS auto-hiding me after using it, I can't find when I'd ever want to use Placate except when using it defensely. And even then, there are better options.

Is the confuse really that good for mitigation? I currently have it slotted with Obliterations on the builder but only because I'd have six 6.25% recharge bonuses if I used Malaise's Illusions.
Maybe I should just tough it out and start working towards purples. I don't expect to buy all this crap in one night anyway... -
Huh, I thought I replied to this post last night but apparently I didn't.
Thanks for the reply, I'm going to follow your advice and keep the ATO set in Blaze and slot out Drain Psyche with a healing set.
I'm locked into the fire epic pool for concept reasons, but I intend to make the best of it by dying often and self rezzing even more often with all this recharge.
I wish I could get at least 20% ranged defense with this build, but buying purples is where my budget draws the line. Oh well, I'll probably end up using a second build for ranged defense exclusively for whenever I feel like playing a juggernaut.
Thanks again. -
I just threw everything on the bottom. Also, ew, imgur converted it to a jpg. -
Good morning, Blasters!
I'm currently in the process of drawing up a build for my Fire/Mental blaster whom I decided to dust off for incarnate content.
She's currently in SOs.
Anyway, I have a bunch of questions for you guys.
1. Right now I make frequent use of aid self while soloing, but I'm wondering if anyone's had any good mileage out of priming Drain Psyche for regeneration. Right now I have it slotted with a full set of Efficacy Adaptors, for the recharge bonus, damage buff, and substantial recovery lift off of just one enemy. With all the recharge I'm building for, I'm hoping I could use Drain Psyche for health instead and move the slots from Aid Self to elsewhere, especially since I have Ageless now. But I'd like to hear your thoughts first.
2. I currently have the blaster ATO proc in Blaze. It fires off nearly every time, if not every time, making it a devastating attack. Would it do the same if it was placed in Fireball?
3. Are there any situations in which you're glad you have Melt Armor? Right now I only use it to boost the damage of my judgements, but on blaster's debuff values it doesn't seem to even do that very well. I'm thinking it might be better if I just grabbed another stealth power for a lotg. -
I'd spend points for the ability to desummon other's pets.

I did make the shortcut manually last time.
The target for the launcher-created shortcut looks like this for me:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\NCSoft\Launcher\NCLauncher.exe" /LaunchGame=CityOfHeroes
I tried adding to the end of it so that it looks like this:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\NCSoft\Launcher\NCLauncher.exe" /LaunchGame=CityOfHeroes -screen 800 600
A black window of the correct dimensions shows up during the blue [Loading...] bar
And when I close that dialog, the game opens in the resolution that I normally play at.
Do I have the shortcut's target set correctly? -
-
My installation does not allow me to do that. When I try to use the shortcut, it says I must run it through the NCsoft launcher instead. Is there a way around that?

It's the least he could do for those robot legs.

I use as many as I can get on my lower leveled MMs.
I also used to go through Envenomed Daggers and Recovery Serums religiously on my stalker but ever since I slotted out my incarnate powers there's been less use for either. -
This is going to come in handy for me later.
Thanks. -
I'm not sure what that's about, the bottom row has been pretty good to me. I put my buffs there on my thermal mastermind before they were made AoE. Button 12 toggles the the insp tray, I don't like staring at it but there's those times when you really need to have it open and quick and that serves me pretty well.
MB4 and MB5 are kind of weird up there in the corner, of MB1. It's definitely odd, but I got used to it after a while. I don't consider it better than where those buttons normally are, but I don't consider it worse after getting used to it either.
Maybe I'm just weird. -
I haven't had mine for a year yet (since December, so halfway) but I would say it has helped me considerably. I never really felt the need to use it in Rift (though I didn't really play past the first month) but it has been invaluable in Worldof and to a lesser extent, City of.
I don't really find it helps as much in City of on low leveled characters because you have much less abilities in comparison to other MMOs, but if you've a bunch of higher characters it will be really helpful. For me, there's always reserved space for Judgement, Destiny, Lore, Call to Justice, and Mystic Fortune on the number keys for all my heroes, but placed powers like Tar Patch and Water Spout fit there as well as situational powers you still might want to hit on short notice like Hibernate.
If you were getting it for another MMO and not just City of, I'd think it's worth it, but personally I wouldn't spend $200 on it. Though I got mine as a gift, I feel as though there's some risk involved with buying Razer. It could be another story for their mice (mine certainly is nice, but I could have just got lucky) but I haven't heard much good about the build quality of their keyboards. Things like the spacebar getting stuck or pressing the alt key with it and the print on the keys randomly being either uppercase or lowercase.
Also, I have no idea what's up with coh's 'support' for the razer mouse. I just turned it off then manually bound my powers to the numpad keys. -
Rclick drag should already work like that
There's no way to get Lclick to work the same way without headaches, but there are some workarounds
Go to options --> Keymapping --> View and there's a setting for Rotate Camera. It's bound to insert (I think) and middle mouse button by default, but I feel more comfortable with it on mouse button 4.
Then go to the controls tab and enable Free Camera Movement if you don't want the camera to face whatever enemy you just attacked. -
I feel like I should mention that I've had a friend's account lapse and was still pacted with them, contrary to what we were expecting. This was last December I think.
Hadn't logged onto the hero until his account was renewed, if that affects anything. -
If you're a tanker and you deal the final blow to the AV you get a VR because of their "Death Dealing" powers. I call it the front line bonus.

I fully support changing reds to Hurtmores.

My favorite is the Magic booster. I think it was the first one I bought, and I never really regret it. The Natural booster was great too. The costume pieces are okay, but I've only taken a travel power once since I received Ninja Run.
Once Freedom comes, I'm definitely buying the mutant pack with accumulated points.
My least favorite, though, is probably the Steampunk pack. I mean it's nice, but there's so many problems with it. The pieces don't play well with older costume pieces, for a while there was no sleeveless option and when it was introduced, the corset started clipping through the breasts on all settings. In addition, the corset looks great with the matching belt, but you can't use that belt with the trench coats or magic bolero. And on top of this, They added an option to the choker to not have the little golden coin in the middle of it, but this option doesn't show up when using Masks with Hair. Yikes.
Edit: How could I forget the mac pack? I was skeptical at first, I bought it for one character's concept (and they've been long deleted) but the armor works so well with other costume pieces. -
I didn't even know there was one in Pocket D.

Reading a guide and being told what to expect didn't exactly make me feel comfortable with my first Keyes Island run, so I set out to make an easy-to-watch two-minute video in which I completely ditch my teammates in order to demonstrate where everything is and what it looks like clearly and concisely. A video in which you could post it in league chat while recruiting those last few players and expect everyone to watch it real quickly before heading inside and they'll be completely prepared thanks to the soothing sounds of calming jazz.
Well, I failed.
But you can see the low-res and hard to read text efforts here.

Not every aspect of the trial is perfectly documented (It's already way longer than I wanted it to be) but I hope being able to see what each step of the trial looks like and what Anti-Matter's moves look like will alleviate some of the stress from trying it for the first time.
If I could add emphasis to one point, it'd be that you have an obscene amount of time for each phase to make several embarrassing mistakes and still finish with time to spare.
