Quote:I doubt there would be an Ouroboros organization in Praetoria since they all came from the distant future and depending how this stuff with Praetorian Hamidon plays out, Praetoria may not have much of a future if you don't have chloroplasts.Good point. Also, in the Primal dimension the Menders follow Mender Silos, and Mender Silos probably doesn't exist in the Praetorian dimension for obvious reasons. If the Menders exist at all, it would have to be in a significantly altered state. That could have significantly altered or eliminated much of the effects of Ouroboros in Praetoria.

Quote:That should be interesting. I might actually drag myself out of bed for that. I'm most interested to see what players' reaction will be to adding [redacted], [redacted], and especially [redacted] to [redacted]. Although making [redacted] into something like [redacted] when your [redacted] is [redacted] will also be interesting. Especially for /devices. And even I don't know what Arbiter Hawk is thinking about adding to [redacted], [redacted], and [redacted] since they don't [redacted].
I heard snipes will be changed so that they'll actually do DPS in the positive numbers. That'd be great because I'm sick of healing my enemies.

Quote:It would have had to have branched off long before that, otherwise they would have had a Nemesis just like Primal Earth since he predates 1914.You are missing the point. It's not a parallel Timeline, it's a diverging timeline. It apparently branched off round about 1914 and has been growing increasingly different ever since. Not minor variations, but great big stonking differences.
My pet theory is that the point of deviation between Primal and Praetorian Earth started on a little island named Cimerora. You may have heard of it?
On Primal Earth a bunch of supers and 5th Column, went back in time and changed a bunch of stuff, causing a stable time loop that also resulted many changes reverberating forward.
On Praetorian Earth; no 5th Column, no time loop. History played out as it "should" have.
Some things that may only have occurred on Primal Earth because of the time travel shenanigans:
-Romulus staged a failed coup. I presume he wouldn't have tried hadn't the 5th backed him.
-Sister Airlia was able to get in tight with Imperious. Without villain help, she may not have been able to.
-Imperious and Romulus were killed in a ritual by Sister Airlia. Wade says as much in SSA1, so I expect an upcoming villain arc where you help this occur.
-Mot ended up in the New World.
-Cimerora was brought to the attention of Talons of Vengeance. This may still have occurred in Praetoria but was delayed/hastened by us on Primal Earth.
-Marcus Valerius leaves Cimerora and dies in the new world.
And probably more things to come.

Quote:I would hope so, considering Primal Hamidon had a thing for Tanya Tyler, and she was still a fairly young woman in the "present". It'd be creepy to have her in a relationship with a man 50-60 years her senior. I can't decide if that's more or less creepy than her being in a relationship with a giant abomination of biology.I believe the devs have stated that Praetoria is not an Earth in which everything is exactly parallel except with goatees. Its possible Hamidon Pasalima was born earlier on this Earth, or Hamidon Pasalima's father ended up creating the Will of the Earth. Its definitely true that we cannot assume that Praetorian Hamidon is named after the same Hamidon Pasalima as Primal Earth's is, or that that individual even exists on Praetorian Earth.

No, what doesn't make any sense is an aggro management specialist AT that does only that at the cost of all else.
Especially in a game where there are already three other ATs that are intended in part to share aggro management(and do), where often you don't need ANY aggro management to begin with and where even two of said specialist AT is already largely redundant on teams.
Taking that AT and making it MORE about aggro management is insane and stupid. You don't try to sell refrigerators to Eskimos by telling them the new models can get even colder and you don't make Tankers any more appealing to the general player population by playing up a role that the vast majority of players just aren't interested in, especially when it also cripples your damage capabilities. Which is why they aren't as popular in the first place.

Quote:Yeah, but metrics don't work unless you care about them.To be fair it shouldn't take a load of angry beta testers to show the devs what people who play CoX find fun.
They should have metrics to know what sets are played, what powers are taken and how often they are used and should clearly know that always on powers are the preferred way of things.
The developers knew how people feel about Hybrid. They simply were not willing/able to give them what they wanted.
Quote:Also if they are going to bother having us beta test stuff then they should listen to us as if we are a representative sample of the playerbase and not just say 'well you are only a small or elite group so we don't care'.
To reiterate: The problem is not in our ability to give good feedback, nor is it in their ability to receive it. Nor is it in the data and metrics we provide, and it's probably not in how they interpret that.

SPOILERS!
I liked it, but I had a couple problems with it.
First: We're supposed to leave the movie thinking Superman's viewpoint is right, that lethal force as a solution is "ugly" and wrong.
Buuuuut... Superman really has no answer to the problem shown by Atomic Skull. Superman did things his way, locked up Skull and then he escaped and immediately killed more people until the Elite put him down.
Nowhere in Superman's speech at the end of the movie does he address this problem inherent in his viewpoint. He could have, and should have, acknowledged that sometimes lethal force is the only recourse, in cases like the Skull.
Manchester even brings it up in a roundabout way when threatens to break out instead of rotting in prison. Instead of confronting the problem there, Superman deflects the issue and goes off on a rant about dreams. Dreams are all well and good, but tell that to the families of the people who Atomic Skull turned to ash.
Second: It was all a trick! Superman didn't kill anyone! Superman robots etc! Buuuut...Superman destroyed several city blocks, caused millions in property damage, terrified innocent people...to make a point. Where's the "dignity, honor and justice" in that?
Third: Superman says the rest of the Elite were captured and are being stripped of their powers as they speak. So....why didn't they strip Atomic Skull of his powers? Instead of hooking him up to a generator which ultimately only helped him escape? Again, Superman could have acknowledged this as a way of dealing with repeat offenders who are not able to be rehabilitated. He should have also acknowledged that the system failed in the Skull's case and that people would be held accountable for the decision that let him kill more innocents.
It all comes back to the fact that Superman's view has major flaws too. He's not made to confront these flaws, acknowledge them or try to deal with them, and the end of the movie sweeps them under the rug and asks us to ignore them because "dreams are dandy".

Quote:One could argue that 10 re-textured editions of the same map aren't really "new" at all and thus don't have the same value as even one truly new map.Think about it like this.
They could either bust out ten new maps by just putting in new textures and tossing in a couple different objects, or they could spend all their time creating a brand new map from scratch. But it would only be one, maybe two maps tops.
The Zig and the Eternal Prison just make me shake my head sadly.
The KoA temple in Tibet...I look at it and it doesn't even make sense. Random ledges and structures that serve no purpose. "What is this even supposed to be?"
The same can be said for the regular office maps. Walkways that lead nowhere. Doors to impossible rooms. Useless alcoves and hallway layouts designed to be as inefficient as possible. Stairs that go up and down for no reason (and woe to any office worker who's in a wheelchair). Huge three level ballroom sized areas with NOTHING in them; no equipment, no place for anyone to work, not that they could even find their way to their cubicle to work on their GIANT SIZED COMPUTER AND DESK. That's when there are cubicles. And not ONE SINGLE WINDOW.
These aren't office buildings. These are what the six year old lovechild of Tim Burton and M. C. Escher imagines the insides of office buildings to be having never seen one.

Quote:True enough, but the fact that Hybrid is now Live does not completely preclude it from getting fixed. If anything, a wider audience panning it only helps the cause.ohhh no. Just NO.
All of you that missed beta and are disappointed with hybrid NOW...
NO.
Stop your complaining!
You forfeit all rights to complain because you didn't take part in beta, you didn't take fire for posting feedback and you didn't step up when it was important.
Our numbers probably would have gotten something decent in place but only if you guys and gals would have shown the hell up and taken the fire for voicing your concerns.
There was only a handful of us expressing our disdain on beta and we knew it would get sour on live but there just wasn't enough to outweigh the trolling parroting cheerleaders.
This is what we have now.
Next time friggin participate!
I would also encourage breaking out the angry PMs to everyone, even marketing.

Quote:Allow me to present some reasons for a SS revamp:I have to disagree with that - lots of people are very happy with it. If anything, that means more power sets should be brought up to the same level.
Or, I Guess if you leave Rage and Foot Stomp alone...
-Go look at Street Justice. Really, that simply is all that needs to be said.
SS's animations and effects are old. It's slow and many people have complained over the years that it lacks impact and 'oomph!' For a power set so iconic and what should be the flagship of melee sets in a super hero game, it's kinda sad.
-I have to point out that SS is a failure as a power set because it simply doesn't do a good job of portraying the fact you have super strength. It doesn't let you lift heavy things. Toss cars. Punch people though walls. It doesn't let you do anything a non-SS can't do: Shake the earth by stomping your foot? Punch stuff hard? Swing around objects? Any Kheld, Martial Artist/Street Justice or Titan Weapon user can do those things.
-SS is both over and underpowered. It's more or less a forgettable set literally propped up by two good attacks, KO Blow and Foot Stomp. It also has arguably one of the worst powers in the game; Hand Clap.
And of course, there's Rage. Yeah, we all know about the stacking.
But, consider this: take Rage out of the picture. Without Rage, SS doesn't measure up that well compared to how other sets do without Build Up. SS's attacks are balanced around Rage. Consider a situation where, say, a Super Strength Tanker and a Stone Melee Tanker are being buffed to the damage cap with a Kin buddy and Hybrid Assault Core. Despite not having Rage the Stone may be putting out considerably more damage than the SS because his attacks are better to begin with.
See, Rage may get SS closer to it's "top speed" quicker, to a point, but SS's top speed as a set may not stack up that good when other sets hit theirs. As it is, Hybrid Assault Core makes it a lot easier for other sets to hit their cap often, and already makes double stacking Rage largely redundant on a SS. Rage and double stacking it is only going to become less attractive as as time goes on and more +dam buffs are made available, which is probably why they've not been in a hurry to remove/prevent stacking.

Depends how you define "revamp".
Animations, mechanics, effects, everything?
Super Strength certainly needs a 'from the ground up' remake.
Battleaxe, War Mace and Broadsword definitely could use visual makeovers and mechanics to make them more varied and interesting.
Stone Armor needs that revamp that would allow Granite Armor to be customizable that was discussed way back when BaBs still worked on the game.
All the elemental "sword" attacks like in Fiery Melee and Ice Melee need options without the 'sword' animations/effects for both melee sets and the Blaster/Dom secondaries that have them.
Beyond that you have the oft-requested Mastermind pet customizations.

Quote:Yes, in fact I'd say it's quite common and ordinary now with Incarnates.I'm serious. Saw the end of a conversation in game and I had to know if it was true.
I mean everyone knows an Ill/rad can, but a melee? Really?
Just find an AV that isn't strong to your damage type and don't be a Tanker.

Hybrid is a major disappointment.
Hybrid fails it's purpose. It does not hybridize.
A Liger is a hybrid. It is part lion, part tiger.
It is not a lion for 12 hours a day and then a tiger for the other 12. That wouldn't make it a hybrid.
Beyond that, it generally rewards one more for doubling down on an existing strength rather than actually hybridizing.
Further disappointing and infuriating is that the devs dismissed and ignored the feedback they asked for and got. The majority of people who voiced an opinion were against it being essentially a click with downtime. Few, if any, actively wanted it to be a click rather than a toggle, they just didn't want excessive end requirement. The rest simply did not care either way. Any resulting "compromise" made was not for the players' sake, but for the devs own. Considering the power is supposed to be for the players and not them, I think the players desires should have taken precedence. I don't really care what the devs want because ultimately the power is supposed to be there for us to chase and if "being OP" is suddenly a concern, they shouldn't have started the damn Incarnate system in the first place, because that is the very premise of it.
Not to mention that the "cloggles" are buggy and have several issues that still haven't been resolved, Live or in the latest beta patch.
Two weeks after earning it now, I've clicked Hybrid maybe twice. It's not worth the effort and taking advantage of it is just a hassle. It doesn't add to or improve my play experience because managing yet another click is the last thing I wanted/needed.
I think Hybrid ended up as garbage and should go to the trash pile.

Here is the bottom line:
Core can only take you to your damage cap.
Radial lets you go beyond it.
Playing the long game, no matter what, Radial is superior.
The only question you need to be asking yourself for the now is: "For a given situation, do I have 70% or more head room until hitting the damage cap to take full advantage of Core?"
Solo, for most ATs and sets besides Super Strength Tankers, that's a "yes".
But anyone teamed with a Kin, or several SoA/Leadership users, or playing on a league, that would likely be a "no", you're probably bumping the cap with Build Up and the like.
So, rule of thumb = Core solo, Radial teamed.
Exceptions being SS and/or Shield Tankers, and Kins themselves. They'll probably lean towards Radial when solo as well.

Regarding Legend of Korra:
Korra assumes the memories of Aang she unlocked were only pertinent to her situation with Tarrlok.
But, consider that she was remembering scraps of that event triggered by her facing down Amon. I think it's a clue to Amon as well. Namely, where he could have picked up energybending.
Until now, we assumed Aang only ever energybent to remove Fire Lord Ozai's abilities. There were no witnesses to that event.
Here we have Aang energybending in the middle of the city and removing an abusive bender's abilities. That's something Amon could have witnessed and memorized, mimicking the technique and practicing until he was able to repeat it. When he removed Lightning Bolt Zolt's bending, Amon even says the same words as Aang said when he removed Yakone's bending.
Also regarding Amon, there are other things I noticed: He's used airbending moves in combat, noticeably against Zolt. Namely, the same spiral dodging technique Korra was trying to learn with the spinning fans. And he's clearly proficient at fighting benders, so he may have learned or developed techniques for countering things like bloodbending.

Quote:Batman: "I'm not sure what you are or where you come from. But my instincts tell me you're to be trusted. Make no mistake, I have a $70,000 sliver of a radioactive meteor to stop the one from Metropolis. All I need for you is a penny for a book of matches."Wait, what?
Superman, in JLA#86 "I can count on one hand the number of beings in the known universe I would be afraid to face in open combat. Jonn J'onzz is at the top of that list. He is the most powerful being on the face of the earth."
. -
Yeah, this probably isn't ever going to see the light of day.
It's basically a kneejerk reaction to the Avengers and when the hype for that dies, so will the push for a JL movie.
Six months from now, when the current top movie at the box office is about waffles, some Warner Bros. exec is going to look at this super hero project eating up WB money and say "Why are we putting so much into this Juice League thing when everbody knows waffles are what's hot right now?!" right before he orders JL shelved and orders a script for a waffle film.
Yes, movie execs are that stupid, fickle and lacking insight into trends beyond what is hot right at that moment.

Quote:I'm betting Pendragon could use it, now that Desdemona has separated him from his Nega-self.Hero 1 used Excalibur, and he gave it to Ms. Liberty before he left to fight the Rikti. It's the sword she wears on her hip. She can't use it, but I think the scabbard is supposed to convey healing powers.
Or at least, I would be interesting to see him and Honoree duke it out for the sword.

Particle effects look great for this game.
The T1 attack *looks* absolutely silly weak.
"Hey, are...are you lightly spraying me with water? That's annoying, cut it out."

They could have the Battalion turn out to be green with horns and muscles. Yes, it turns out all along they were Trolls. Spacefaring Trolls.
And that would be the most epic troll in this game's history.
