  1. You got it, Tony! I havent been on my Virtue lowbies in ages, but my highest level will be there - and I'll probably will have respec'ed him before then. I'm also gonna post this forum's link to 3 SG webpages on guildportal and from there I'm sure it will disseminate further.

For Players locked into P2F, I'm wondering if any have an option of Server transfer so as to attend the gathering on Virtue? (Idea: can the devs adjust the paragon tier reward settings?)
  2. Thanks, Golden Girl! I figured someone would post that here, whereas I was busy cutting and pasting those words to 3 SGwebpages on guildportal.com. So many of my friends and long(er)time subscribers have felt so bad about this (grieving is not too strong a term) but all are active with the petitions, facebook, the letter writing campaign, etc. Today for the first time, rather than clinging to hope as a form of denial, I felt actual hope that together, just like when we team in-game, we might really have a shot at this! Woot!! Keep the Inspirations popping!!
  3. P.S. Golden Girl, Thank you! That was hysterical!!!
  4. Dear Mr. John Hegner "Protean", THANK YOU and your colleagues for all of this!!! I started May 2009, my first MMO, and I never stopped. Sure, I'd seen friends play WoW, UO, even spent an afternoon while I friend walked me thru playing EQ1, but none of those grabbed me. One session of City of Heroes with an old gaming buddy I'd lost touch with but who'd been playing CoH from Week 1 was all it took!

I enjoyed the game under Issue 15 and with each new issue and expansion just kept getting better!! (Man, I am so wanting to play under Issue 24, experience the blaster powerset revisions but especially the new content and Nature Affinity.) The Incarnate system, the BlockBuster summer event, Capt Mako's Shark Week, the new IO sets, just kept upping the Awesome!!

During my 3 and a smidge years, I took sometime to try some other MMO's but all paled compared to CoH. I've even had players in other MMO's look at me strange or worry that I'm up to no good by Healing and Buffing them in passing, as is so common here. We may not be the largest, but the Community of Players here is heroic, generous, humorous, helpful and generally good-natured. Also loyal as anything. I knew this MMO Community was special, but not until this crisis did I realize to what extent. Ditto for the development and related teams at Paragon Studios. If crisis brings out the True Colors, then I have to say the true colors shown here reflect very well on all concerned. (*excepting whoever made the decision to sunset City of Heroes at NCSoft.)

Back to you, sir. THANK YOU for Praetoria! I was thrilled when I rolled my first Prae toons when Going Rogue came out. Not only were these some of the very prettiest city zones - and what an amazing night sky! - but the intracies of the interweaving plots, the purposeful ambiguity of whether Loyalists or Resistance were the good or bad guys, the more mature content to the storylines, the remarkable and satisfying continuity with everything Praetorian and related to Praetoria.

Like a lot of people, my Praetorian characters retain their Praetorian roots, and my second favorite character is a blaster on Victory who still introduces himself as Mark Davis, Powers Division, and whose battle cry is "Greetings from Emperor Cole!" (It was fun using that in the Magisterium trial on Tryant, whom my character insists is obviously an evil doppelganger, not the real Cole.)

Well, here I am digressing into happy memories.

THANK YOU AGAIN and Here's hoping one way or another Issue 24 and beyond can proceed as planned 'cause, baby, you got game!
  5. Thanks, TonyV! This is wonderful news! Happily, I hadn't planned to delete anything.
  6. I would pay more and so would many others to keep City of Heroes going.
  7. And Thank YOU!!! LOL it's the community of players here on every server I've played (the majority of them) as well as their quality every bit as much as the beautiful artwork and special effects, nifty powers, etc. that made this all so special! I was welcomed to game, just as you describe with experienced players giving me tips, advice and INF/loot simply as a welcome to CoH! It stuck with me and I committed to passing the Good Will along to new players I met in-game.

This is totally unlike the other (admittedly a small handful) of MMO's I've tried since starting CoH, where I've been looked at funny and suspected of no good, simply for healing or buffing another player in passing. Why? Because routinely we do that here, sometimes pausing to say Thanks or even have a longer conversation, or rushing away without a word to thwart the bad guys, or pull off that devious caper.

I'm gonna mish the humor on the global chat channels, as well as my many CoH friends as much or more than any character I played here. I'm gonna miss being on way late, when someone pipes up, I'm bored, I'm gonna hold a costume competition and poof a small CC materializes out of nowhere, as well as teaming up with my SGmates or doin' a Hami Raid or iTrial. Heck, happily for my alt-itis, I still love all the lowbie content too, as well as several (many) AE missions.

So, yes! Thank you, fellow gamers! Your heroism, generosity, humor, and creativity made this the uniquely wonderful gaming experience that it was and presently still is. No matter what the venue, whether MMO or paper and dice, the game is only as good as players and the game referee. Thank you all for being super!
  8. Dear Matt "Positron" Miller,
Thank you for an excellent even peak gaming experience! I didn't expect a MMORPG to compare to the fun of in-person tabletop or LARP gaming but thanks both to the outstanding quality of work of produced by the Paragon Studios team(s) and the quality of the community of players who were drawn to and continued with City of Heroes, some for nearly nine years, City of Heroes far exceeded my expecations. As in other forms of gaming, game friendships here became real friendships. Hats off to you and all the wonderful staff at Paragon Studios. Very much looking forward to your next project(s), even as we players fight to somehow keep CoH alive. Thank you for all you've given to us.
  9. Awesome! What a labor of love!
  10. Farewell Zartain, PSL Animal, Bionic Flea and certainly LSK! I'm looking forward to our next Hamidon Raid on Justice and playing for as long as I can until the plug is pulled or CoH gets a reprieve. I know that for many, logging in now is painful, and I acknowledge I find it bitter-sweet at present, but I'm far from ready to pack up and go shopping for a new MMORPG or other pasttime. Like everyone, I want City of Heroes/Villains to continue as we all expected, with the Paragon Studios team(s) intact, and ready to give us Issue 24 and beyond as planned. Yes, I know what I'm wishing for is a tall order, perhaps impossibly so. Nonetheless, it was the CoX community/communities as much as the outstanding work by Paragon Studios that made City of Heroes such a delight and among my peak gaming experiences. You all ROCK!!! Thank you for being awesome and I hope we all stay SUPER!!!
  11. Heh, I do hope you win a large fortune and soon, Michelle aka Samuraiko.

Rangle, it's nice to see you here. I'm gonna miss the Rangle Plots(tm).
  12. As long as there are forums to say Thanks and show our appreciation to Paragon Studios, I will probably keep posting to say Thank You!!! Yeah, of course I was looking forward to issue 24. But probably only 1/2 as much as the development team. I'm sorry for all the amazing developments we'll never have a chance to play, but grateful I got to experience what I did from Issues 15-23. Makes me wish I'd started MMO gaming earlier. THANK YOU ALL AGAIN FOR YOUR WONDERFUL WORK!!! Best regards and wishing you each and all every success in the future!
  13. I dont know where I'm going yet. My current plan is to play CoH some every day until November 30th. SGmates, who've now become RL friends, some of them now find even logging in painful and so won't. I appreciate where they are coming from, since it's bittersweet for me each time I log in to play a favorite character or arc, or AE. I might go back to Premium status Free to Play LOTRO, possibly even re-subscribing, or give Champions Online a chance - i liked the pen, paper, dice version but youtube showed me from the get-go that I preferred CoX. A couple of friends are suggesting the Secret World, and just about no one's recommending DCUO. I have until 11/30 to decide, until then I'm playing CoH/V. After that, I dont know.
  14. I like the creative thinking here. There must be some way to save CoH.
  15. Thank you, Freitag! I only recently met you during Captain Mako's Shark Week event - that was a blast! You and the Paragon Studios development team and related staff did an outstanding job!! I'm glad we've "raised the bar" as players. You all certainly raised the bar on what so many of us want in an MMORPG. I'm so sorry the game is ending and especially this way. If I and my friends (virtual and RL) feel this way about City of Heroes/Villains and our dashed dreams and plans, I can only imagine what you all are going thru. Man, I was so looking forward to Issue 24, Nature Affinity (yes you released it but i bought a team transporter instead, until I had a chance to play with NA some on the Beta test server), and had no reason to go looking for another MMORPG.

Best Regards, Hopes and Wishes to all the fine, excellent developers, designers, and game staff. City of Heroes was a joy!! I will cherish my memories of this experience as I do other "peak" gaming experiences. I never thought I would like an MMO this much, nor care about one to this extent. Let's hope the specialness rolls forward for each of us. Remember: Stay SUPER!!!!
  16. I plan to spend my time with sgmates and other friends, get my water blaster to 50 and maybe even slot his Mids build, solo or team (PUGs are fine) doing old favorite arcs, AE's, etc. There's still LOTS of content I havent done, like getting a villain toon to actually do a Patron Pool arc rather than pick epic pool powers.... I plan to be on and playing or at least visiting with friends every day until the very end.

  17. Too bad! I love the idea of everything we heroes fix, staying fixed, until the final Game Down.

    I remember....

Since I started under Issue 15, i think i remember most everything! Mostly I remember people, strangers, being incredibly kind, helpful, and just giving me INF and items, unasked for, why? simply because I was new to the game! It made such a good impression, that I've always tried to help the new(er) player by passing the goodwill along.

    Not Goodbye

Thank you all again, Paragon Studios Team!!! You are right to be proud of what was accomplished in CoH. Thank you for easing us thru this painful transition. Damn, but I did not expect to get so attached to City of Heroes or any MMO. Still hoping this can somehow be saved.... Either way, THANK YOU AGAIN! Stay SUPER!!!!
  20. Zwill, thank you and the rest of the Paragon Studios team for your past and present work. I know how I am feeling, as well as how friends and SG mates on various servers feel about CoH ending 11/30. I can only imagine how you guys feel. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! CoH will be the standard by which I evaluate and judge all other MMO's (tho the idea of playing another MMO just now doesnt appeal in the least.) I'm still holding a vague hope that somehow either NCSoft will reconsider (which I think highly unlikely) or that somehow Paragon Studios and the development team can re-boot CoH with a different publisher (though I consider that also unlikely.) I don't know what it will take to show NCSoft that they have an extremely loyal customer base who all want to continue playing CoH. That NCSoft sprang this so suddenly on everyone stinks and there's no sugar-coating that! However, I appreciate that you want to leave this on a good note (since there are tears enough), so let me reinterate: THANK YOU!!! YOU GUYS TOTALLY ROCKED!!!
  21. Thank you and the Development Team for taking time to post on the Forums. And Thank You especially for the magical experience that was City of Heroes. So many things set CoH apart from other MMORPG's, but I think Community must be biggest difference. Gonna log back into CoH now to enjoy some more play while I still can and enjoy the incredible game you all created. I never expected to care this much about an MMO, but I do. THANK YOU!!!
  22. Thank you, Mr. Sean McCann aka Dr. Aeon, and the rest of the development team for the amazingly joyous experience of City of Heroes. You all and CoH will be so very missed by so many of us. Wishing you and the team every future success! I'll be playing off and on until the bitter end and keep hoping there's someway City of Heroes can continue. The community here is unlike any I've seen in the (admittedly few) other MMO's I've tried.
  23. Thank you all! City of Heroes was my first and remains my favorite MMO, and I've played pretty much daily for the past 3+ years. Both City of Heroes/Villains and the CoX communities are amazing! I'm so surprised and like many saddened at this sudden ending! I wish everyone there well, and will continue to hope that City of Heroes can continue, or barring that relaunch without NCSoft. Best wishes to you all, and wishing success in future endeavors. Thanks again for giving us a truly fun and remarkable experience.
  24. Dear Ocho,
Best wishes to you & your family and to all your future endeavors! Stay SUPER!!
