    D&D Next

Personal, I think Tsrwotchasbro should pursue two product lines: D&D Core and D&D Advanced

D&D Core should OSR style, short and sweet old school D&D. One book is all you'll ever need.

D&D Advanced should include a lot of what worked/people liked with Type 2 - Type 4, allowing the inclusion of feats, prestige class system, The encounter spell system, miniature-based combat... all scaled as "plug-in" additions to the D&D Core system. Like the Type 4 magic system over the Type 1? Drop it in. Want Warforged as a Character Race? Drop it in.

Then they can add a DM's guide that's more concentrated on Dungeon Mastering and not including more rules. There can be Core and Advanced Monster Manuals, and specialty worlds can simply say things like "Dark Sun requires the use of D&D Core. If you;d like to add more features to your game, please check out the Advanced Dark Sun book, coming soon.

That way ever get's what they want, and Tsrwotchasbro can sell lots and lots of stuff to everyone.

IN a perfect world, I guess

I've personally taken to the trend of "Type 1," "Type 2," etc. or in the vein of Android (cupcake, gingerbread, etc)

    Or... we could do both:

    Type 5 D&D = D&D "Marilith"

    Sanctuary RIP

It's not surprising. SlyLie isn't in the habit of attempting to evolve shows anymore. Eureka's much the same way: Instead of evolving the disaster-a-day format into any one of the short-lived meta-plots and shifting focus around a bit, they cancelled it as well.

Sanctuary was the same way. The "Freak of the week" formula worked for a while, but the show really got fun when you saw Magnus' "Daring Adventure Story" episodes. (And Tesla is just the bomb... I'd what a show based just around him). But instead... SyFy just takes the attitude of "OK... done with that now, cancel it" to make more room for more "Imagine Greater" programming.

I hope that Ms. Tapping takes Sanctuary (or an off-shoot thereof) back to the web.
  4. Is it sweeps week again?

Marvels having a gay wedding, DC just couldn't handle it so we're "outing" a main character. My prediction? Any change will be superficial at best, with just the token "provocative" scene once every month or two and it'll all be retconned away with the New "Old 52" promotion next year anyway.
  5. Put me in the "big black whiny dog does not a shambling, horrific shadow beast make" camp. I hate to say it but it seemed a bit of last-minute toss-in.
  6. Not really new. Rikti Diplomat from the Midnight Club mission does the same thing

  8. OK... so let me get this straight. Zombie Statesman is getting a stiffy due to the approach of the prancing Vibrobot?

    Sounds Greek to me.

    This.

I'm with most everyone else. There's a big difference - for example - between a occasional reminder that an CC is being held in Pocket D and a blow-by-blow of the contestants and the winners, especially when you're not remote anywhere near the D. Players get in trouble for spamming wall-o-texts frequently in public channels. I think all we're asking is that the Admins hold themselves to the same rules
  10. Um... I thought the New 52 was an Elseworlds story... you mean it's staying?!?!?
  11. Sounds to me like the event is rather bugged. The scaling issues alone probably warrants a fix-n-restart.
  12. Freedom Corp is a PMC (Private Military Company) much the same as Blackwater USA (... err. "Xi"... err.. "Academa",) Hambright, or Raytheon. The main difference between Hero Corp and Freedom Corp is that HC seemed to be avaible to anyone with a checkbook while FC restricts it's operations to private "para-military" contracts (as far as we've seen in the canon.) They do seem to have some form of sanction/agreement/contract with Paragon City (or Rhode Island or possibly even the US) to allow them to operate as a para-military militia within the borders of the city/state/country. This is why they can do things like conduct (read as: invade) sovereign nations (Like the Rogue Isles) with impunity, (or use flame-throwers as "law enforcement" tools.)

Longbow as a specialized unit within the Freedom Corps PMC currently tasked with the destruction of Arachnos.

They're not "good guys" or "bad guys," They're mercenaries.

So, to answer the OPs original questions of "Longbow .. Friend? Foe? or whatever" "Whatever seems to be the proper answer....

... Unless Ms Liberty convinces the Freedom Corp Board of Directors that you're the next threat.
  13. Fate. It's quick, easy to use and lets you hop right in after a simple character creation. Kinda like CoH
  14. Although I think they should stick to their guns about staying with an advancement in time-line, to be honest, I fully expect to see a "rewind" of some sort before the Invasion arc is over with.
  15. I can't go along with this one. I already pay fees coming and going with the market, and I'm glad the days of dozens of people spamming auras or standing close to auctioneers in hopes of the accidental drop on to them are in the past for me thanks to "/ah"

    /unsigned

(then again, I'm not a big market guy in any case, so what do I know? 8D )
  16. Social media is much like panning for gold right now... there's nuggets there but damn what a lot of sludge and pebbles.

Might I suggest to Zwill that if they are going to use Twitter as a full blown communications medium, that they consider using hash tags. Simple tags like #cohannounce and #cohupdate, would make it much easier to seperate the wheat from the chaff.

    Eureka 4/23

Am I the only one that was disappointed that npcCarter didn't snap her virtual neck?

(and no, I don't dislike the character and love Felicia Day all to pieces. It just looked like they were building to it and then cheesed out )
  19. So... they give us 900 Paragon Points if we create a Praetorian?

I'm just glad they chose to included the character this time. Now if we could only convince Michael Bay to do a TMNT movie.

Because screwing with someone's good time is ok if it's only just a little bit?
  23. While, I will occasionally enter to try a mission created by a friend, as a rule I don't use AE because:
    • The hacked-up reward system that punished legitimate users far more than it ever did the exploiters.
    • The uncontrolled rating system which allowed for jerk-hacking of ratings, often forcing good, well-crafted missions down the list and into obscurity to make room for the next FOTM farm.
MA was a good idea that was so poorly executed from the onset that, it never ever recovered. It's a shame, really because it had the potential of being a game changer for COH
  24. A good set, all in all.

    The Good:
    • Another very fun set to watch as well as play.
    • The endrdx Form makes end hungry secondaries much more manageable at lower levels.

    The Bad:
    • Break-dancing moves in attack animations.
    • Poor initial selection (4 pretty identical normal staves, 2 joke staves (broom, pipe), Trident, and Tech staff/glaive)
    The Ugly:
    • City of Strippers/Inuendo

    4. The rewards
This sums it up pretty much right here. IMO there's simply not enough of #4 to put up with #1, #2, and #3.

I'd also like to add the "care-bear" shouting "spree-killers" that seemed to take great joy in repeatedly stalking and killing a player that very obviously has no interest in them. (In my own personal experience, after trash-talking in both broadcast and through tells, I put him on ignore. This seemed to only accelerate his rabid blood-lust.)

It should be enough for someone to say "I'm just here to get a badge real quick."

    Solution: Two items:

    a) A "Sightseer" temp power (purchased at the zone gates) for people that want to check out the zone, pick up a exploration badge, etc without pvping. Toggle it... and you can't attack or be attacked. When de-toggled you teleport to the zone gate so it can't be used for stalking prey (I would say a modded Personal Force Field or Phase Shift would do the trick)

    b) The ability for a GM to give someone a pvp "time out" as well as a - for lack of a better term - "jerk" petition option. If someone's going about and beyond the call of jerk-face duty, you simply petion them, letting a GM know to come take a peek. If the GM observes the objectionable behavior or gets several complaints about the same person, he comes in and times them out (I'd just use the Sightseer power mentioned above). This lets the culprit chill for a bit, say five or ten minutes.

Would these two changes bring me back to pvp? Probably not, but they might bring people that would normally avoid the zones to come back and see how things may have changed since their last encounter. The Sightseer power also gives new players a chance to check out the zones and see how much fun *could* be had without fear of being attacked. And lastly, it also gives a recourse for those people having an issue with a single "bad apple" player... other than the current one of ignoring pvp zones.
