Quote:They do. The system is already in place to add points to accounts so your issues have already been addressed. Furthermore, when they do a 'one-off' award of anything, it's usually done during weekly maintenance so your issues are non-issues anyway.Actually, there may well be excellent reasons for the devs not to give compensation.
It's a lot easier to say some of these things than for them to actually do it.
Adding points, for example - for starters, you're going to need to write a script to add the points. Make sure it only adds to VIPs. Make that VIPs that were subscribed at the time of the outage. Wait a minute, check your date math. Oh, what happens if someone is buying points when the script runs. More QA. Umm, what happens if someone is buying at the store when the script runs. Hey, let's just take account services and the store offline while the script is running. Moar downtime ?!?!? Oh, by the way, QA just told me that the game servers crash if you take the store offline. How many more hours can we prop the Zwill in front of a camera?
Honestly, unless they already have the capability to do something already,
I'm not one of the people demanding compensation. I'm just saying they could do it easily if they wanted to. -

Did you actually check to make sure you didn't receive it?
You absolutely can not depend on getting a badge 'alert' when you log in. -
Ignore anyone saying that you can't change it. I came across the option a few days ago when I was buying Paragon Points. If I recall, it's an option on the page where you enter your credit card information. It may only be accessible while making a purchase or changing your credit card. It's just a text box where you type in the limit you want. There is a set maximum. I think it was $300. I don't recall what the default setting is since I increased mine a long time ago when I set my account to auto-renew a year at a time.

It's account-wide. Generally speaking, for a simple question like this, you can get a faster response by going to ParagonWiki. There is a page for this badge (and every other). You wouldn't have had to wait 4+ hours for a reply.

Quote:Actually, the real question is why did the person use a name widely associated with another person? If someone took a name because it has broad appeal and they wanted to use it, fine. If someone took a name specifically to annoy another player, that makes them a tool. Whether we like either person is irrelevant. It's their intent that makes them a tool, or not.Would the same point of view not apply to the original post? I mean, crying because someone took an internet handle in a private forum that all are paying for is all well within the rules, but would it not fall under the "tool" catagory as well? Or is Belle exempt from that because people like him/her? What if it was someone we didn't like?
These are the real questions behind this story.
There are other Ironblades on other servers. No surprise. It's kind of an obvious name, even before they introduced a power called the Iron Blade. Taxibot Belle, however, is more of a 'personal' name than a 'hero' name.
At this point, there are several players known to have used the names of multiple other players. And, again, I'm not talking about names like Ironblade. I'm talking about names like 'Frank the Magician'. That makes them tools. -
No, back when the limit was 75, they WANTED to change it to 75 ACCOUNTS. However, that was not possible so they increased the limit to 150.

Wow, this whiny entitlement thread grew a lot faster than the last one.

Actually, yes, they SHOULD do that. That's part of their job. Do I need to point out that farmers *DO* affect the game and other players? People can debate how much effect, positive or negative, etc. But to suggest that they don't affect those around them is ludicrous.

But it looks like this is EXACTLY what MARTy is designed to target. So far (as far as I have heard), ONLY ambush farms generate rewards fast enough to trigger MARTy.
-
Quote:Interesting how? It's designed not to affect 'aggressive gameplay'.Quite a few people in the Help channel were discussing their farms getting throttled by MARTy today...Freedom was rather rife with the few discussing it and the rest farmer bashing.
Rather interesting, since the initial thread on MARTy said that it wouldn't affect 'aggressive gameplay'
FYI, 'aggressive gameplay' is not a synonym of 'exploitive AE farming'.
You see, the devs are the ones who get to define "exploitive". So, anything they deem exploitive is beyond 'aggressive'. So far, we have not seen any indication that it can be triggered outside of AE. Even the MOST aggressive gameplay of regular content falls short of MARTy's criteria (based on observations so far . . .) -
Quote:It's quite simple. The reasoning is similar to the store pricing where it's easier to introduce something too expensive. The players will cheer if you lower a price. If you start too low and raise it, everyone will scream.Has there been any explanation provided as to why the signature image for Freedom shows Statesman fighting a nameless warworks robot?
So they launched Freedom with a butt-ugly splash screen. When they replace it, everyone will be pleased.
