What's the deal?

Has there been any explanation provided as to why the signature image for Freedom shows Statesman fighting a nameless warworks robot?

I mean, why not Lord Recluse or Emperor Cole? Or even Hamidon or his Avatar? How was it somehow deemed more awesome to show him fighting a non-living robot? (and by the way, what is the robot doing -- about to punch him with a gun??).

Noone is quite sure why they decided to change it or why they made it so glaringly bright. There are several threads around discussing how to change it and some custom images people have made.

He's getting old, can't run with the big dogs any more, so the rest of the gang let him handle the BCUs so he can still feel badass and they can focus on the AVs.

That got a snort out of me

Cool thread link but doesn't explain what the devs were thinking by changing to the punch-out-a-robot image that's on the login as well as all over the forums.

I mean, here's statesman, the most powerful hero in the COX universe, and he's going to punch a robot. And the robot looks like he's punching back (with a gun).

*shrug*

What's the logic??

You're asking us to figure out the logic of the devs thought process? Sorry I can't read minds through my tinfoil hat.

The robot was asking for Statesman's blessing to marry Ms Liberty. This is the way Statesman says "no".

The awkward positioning is because the robot is miming the posture for proposal, and was just about to present the ring.

Hm, well looking at the picture it's probably Statesman (Paragon city?) pushing back the Warworks robot(Praetoria?). *Puts on tinfoil hat* So since all of the changes to the game with Going Rogue they decided to put a known enemy of Praetoria in the log in to represent change? Eh maybe .

I think it would have been more cool to have Statesman, Cole and Recluse all standing there looking epic or something, while you had the Avatar of Hamidon behind them.

And then, behind all that, there'd be Nemesis' shadow looming over all of it. Oops, I mean that Coming Storm thing. Yeah!

Maybe they are working on a gun punch melee power.

Clearly, States has grinded enough raids, yet. No level shifts = getting clobbered by a BCU.

I have to agree, by canon States is supposed to be one of the most powerful beings in the world and... he's punching out an ordinary Warworks LT? Not to mention he's always been such an arrogant SOB that he'd probably find that Warworks beneath his notice in any case.

I'm not sure I could come up with something more ludicrous if I tried.

It's quite simple. The reasoning is similar to the store pricing where it's easier to introduce something too expensive. The players will cheer if you lower a price. If you start too low and raise it, everyone will scream.

So they launched Freedom with a butt-ugly splash screen. When they replace it, everyone will be pleased.

Clearly it is OUR tinfoil hats that are keeping you from reading our minds!
