Yeah, you can put defensive items in plenty of types of rooms that don't even ACCEPT control items.

Yeah.... I hope to have a giant fly swatter handy in case monkeys fly out of my butt.

Quote:No, yes, no, no.Is there any point to me raising the difficulty? Will I get more chances at purples, threads, recipes, special drops (Is there any?), or anything of that nature?
Higher levels gives improved odds of threads and improved iXP.
Your odds for purples, recipes and other drops are unchanged. -
Quote:Actually, there is - and it should mostly negate the conflicting name issue. If they can iron out all the issues with a temporary server hop (SG membership, friends list, etc) - you just have EVERYONE hop to the Cross-Server Server.I think that open-ended cross-server teaming is probably a pipe dream. Because even in something as scripted as a Task Force still has open-ended stuff in the outer world, and there's just no clean way to do cross-server open-world.
If I temporarily hop to a crowded server, it's likely my name would be taken. If the entire team temporarily hops to a server that's only used for cross-server teaming, that shouldn't be a concern. -
Quote:Well, with all due respect, I'm sure you can understand that the people making these arguments honestly and truly do not care whether YOU are convinced. Some of the drawbacks, TO THEM, are deal-breakers. Case closed.Alright, I've read the pro-crossing arguments, and respectfully, they're unconvincing (not yours, personally, Seldom; yours just made a nice quote).
I think cross-server teaming is a superior solution than what you've proposed. However, in my case, I don't need either. My home server is Infinity. My brother and his wife mostly play on Triumph. Their only 50's are on Triumph and they have some trouble with high-end content because the SG doesn't have any high level tanks. So, I made a tank on Infinity, spent maybe a couple months getting her to 50 and all 'incarnated', and transferred to Triumph. Problem solved - for me. I fully recognize that most people would not find that an acceptable solution - spending 6-7 weeks leveling a new toon. -
Well sure, anyone who would use a neutron bomb in an area full of non-combatants.... umm.... wait....

I use a wireless mouse and a wired keyboard. As you might expect, I don't move the keyboard around much.
A wireless mouse is absolutely fine for gaming. Latency has NEVER been noticeable (I'm on my 3rd wireless mouse). Batteries dying at a bad time is a negligible issue - most mice will flash a red LED when the batteries are getting low and you have a couple of DAYS to get new ones and have them sitting on your desk ready to go.
A good reason, in my opinion, to have a wireless mouse is that a cord restricts the mouse movements and you end up positioning yourself and moving in a way to accommodate the mouse. This is backwards and a recipe for repetitive stress injuries. -
Quote:I don't see what sort of testing they can do that would be more informative than monitoring a Rikti Mothership Raid. You get enough people to fill the zone with most of them concentrated in a small area fighting dozens and dozens of enemies.I would like this to be tested. I would like for the developers and/or quality control people or whoever to test a high load situation and see how badly those updating powers affect the performance and see what can be done to alleviate the issue so that the game performs as well as it did in Issue 18/Going Rogue.

Quote:There were a few others who did MA arcs. I recall that Scott Kurtz did one involving his character Lolbat.Another Edit: Also, don't forget promotional efforts with Rooster Teeth (who was also a guest MA author and whose "Captain Dynamic" character is played by Ed Roberston of Barenaked Ladies fame) and with prolific author Mercedes Lackey (who also did a guest arc) and whose Secret World Chronicles books are based on characters in City of Heroes. Lots of good stuff!

Quote:I was going to mention Plantronics. I had one for many years and was happy with it. At the same time it was starting to get flaky, I happened across a half-off deal on a Razer headset so that's what I have now.Speaking of headset. Here's the headset I use.

The launcher is pretty much garbage, anyway. Here's how it worked for me today:
- Start the launcher and see the game needs to be updated.
- Update it (130-something MB).
- It asks if I want to Play or Close, when done. I pick Close.
- Back to the launcher and tell it to do a repair. It says everything is fine.
- Launch the game.
- .....and it detect errors and tells me to repair.
- I run repair again and it starts a 94MB download.
What
The
Hell?
Why didn't it find that the files were no good yet when I told it to run a repair? Why did only the pre-launch check find a problem? Even better, why the hell can't the launcher correctly update the game in one pass? -

They have both a mouse with a built-in trackball, plus a stationary trackball with a larger ball. I have the stationary one. -
Oh, right, it USED TO take your mez protection away for most sets. I selectively forget that we get to keep powers 5 levels over our exemp level now.

Oh, and mouse/keyboard. Well, whatever you're comfortable with. I used to use corded mice at work and home, but started to have symptoms of repetitive stress injury (i.e. like carpal tunnel syndrome, except that's generally from keyboard mis-use). So I got a trackball at work and a cordless mouse at home. That has me using different motions at home and at work. Both are Logitech.
My keyboard is also Logitech and is corded. The main concern with 'non-gaming' keyboards is 'chording' - i.e. pressing multiple buttons simultaneously. Due to how they are wired internally, some keyboards can't read multiple keypresses correctly. I had to replace the keyboard I had when I started playing CoH as it would not let me superjump AND move forward AND turn all at the same time. My current keyboard handles that fine. Any keyboard marketed for 'gaming' should also be fine. Mine isn't a gaming keyboard. It's a very basic Logitech keyboard that cost me about $14. As far as I'm concerned, it's perfect. Once I saw how much I liked it, I bought another so I have a spare. -
Quote:er... enough? I have never given a single thought to how many fan headers a mobo had for any of my builds. If you're going to start adding extra fans, you'll probably be plugging them directly into the power supply.Does anybody know how many fan headers these have? It's really hard to find out unless someone's done a youtube review vid, but honestly I haven't looked there yet so...
Quote:Most cases seem to have a rear fan of either 120mm or 140mm and some have HUGE top fan(s) as well.
Quote:I think I might wanna look into one with twin top fans just to be safe, but all this still has me wondering if the OEM fan/heatsink are going to handle this environment. -

This also has the effect of making solo SG's easier. Last I heard, the devs weren't keen on solo SG's in general.
Quote:Email Utilization- A more traditional email system incorporating the ability to cc other players and/or group categories to send out mass emails to SG mates and potential recruits.
Quote:The option to send ingame emails to a character rather than their global handle would be handy as well. -
Okay, now for the one that exemps you low enough to lose all your good powers, including mez protection for scrappers. Woo hoo!

No can do. If the base is powered, they're active. There have been numerous requests for purely decorative versions of the defense items. Maybe we'll get those some day.

Quote:Keep in mind that all of those were being sold to the government. Businesses are actually motivated to watch costs.Things which have sold in the past for prices like $640 toilet seats, $7,600 coffee makers, $436 hammers, $17 dollar bolts will probably get even more expensive when some genius decides to tack on the description "zero-G" and raise the price a few hundred, thousand, million dollars for items that are cheap to make.

Quote:I call false advertising in that first video. In the list of powers, it mentions Light Control and Shape Shifting. Some new information appears: http://na.cityofheroes.com/en/news/n..._continues.php
Maybe he means the one I'm seeing now - the kitten painted to look like Pikachu.
