Maybe it's me, or the server I'm on, but I'm just not seeing this. In my experience, the ONE task force or strike force that is the WST is always 'assumed' to be a speed run for that ONE WEEK. Everything else, at any time, is assumed *NOT* to be a speed run.

Just like in personal finance and budgeting, we have to distinguish between 'needs' and 'wants'. I don't NEED the badge right now. But I do like to be actively working toward a badge at any given time. Why? I just WANT to. I feel like it.

    Quote:
How many years have you been playing? Do you think that badge is going away next week? Have you ever actually run across someone who said, "Wow, you have that badge already? You're awesome!"? Two years from now when we both have the badge, will yours be in some way superior to mine because you got yours now and I do one extra WST a week and get mine in a year? Do you plan on quitting soon and you're trying to jam it all in now, and if so, why do you care whether you have the badge or not?
Six years. No. No. No. No. No.

Isn't 11 speed runs of a task force extremely tedious, and don't you think that tedium conveys a bad impression of the game to people who might be on your teams that are relatively new? Don't you have anything better to do in the game, or are you so jaded that your only pleasure is repeatedly speed running the same task force?
None of the above. If I found it tedious or 'unfun', I wouldn't be doing it. I only picked Lady Grey as an example because the OP mentioned it. I did the Kahn TF 25 times during the week it was the WST. I enjoyed every time. If it had been the WST for longer, I would have done it more. The opposite is true of the Statesman TF. I never really cared for that one. I ran it a few times because people I knew were running it, then I stopped. That was enough for the week.

Maybe that's your idea of fun, but I just can't imagine it.
<shrug> I can't imagine people liking oatmeal. I despise it.

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate you or anything, but you're one of the veterans I mentioned above who I wish would start thinking less about getting stuff and more about how you can personally make the game more fun and exciting for others. Don't you hang out with Belle sometimes? She's the master of that.
Ah but, just like I was explaining to the OP, I can have it both ways. When I play with the hardcore badgers on my global list, we'll do one speed run after the other. When I lead task forces for my SG, or I'm with the Saturday team organized on these boards, we NEVER speed or stealth ANYTHING.

It's all about variety. I'm not a farmer, but I'll run a farm map on my fire/kin a couple times a month - because it's different from what I usually do. I think power-leveling is stupid, but I've done it with some characters I never intended to actually use - just because. I'm still working on getting one of every AT to level 50. I'm also working on getting all the souvenirs on my main character. I want to play every scrap of content at least once. I joined Paragon City Search And Rescue and the Mentor Project to help other players. I run a coalition of SG's, one of which is in the top 40. I'm a member in a bunch of other SG's, and an officer in several of them. I'm an op on one of Infinity's larger channels. The game has a lot of different things to do. I'm not just about speeding task forces. Eight more runs and I'm done with that. At least, for my own goals. Numerous times during the past few weeks, people on my global have asked to lead speed runs. I imagine I'll still be doing some for other people.

Not really. It would be more accurate to say that this is what's wrong with the OLD CONTENT. The newer blueside task forces are fantastic.

Interesting point. I think anyone considering this should seek an explicit okay from a redname in advance. They might well consider it as exploiting and modify the client to block such a program completely.

People have had personal OBSERVATIONS that are wrong, such as the world being flat. People were just as passionate about being wrong about that topic as people seem to be about being wrong on this topic.
Yes, I know all of those things. You still demonstrate epic fail. In the part I highlighted, you make a statement of fact on a subject that you don't actually have any facts about. You THINK the pylons don't help. I THINK they do. Stating that I am wrong, rather than that you disagree, just makes you look foolish.

I can think of a reason: there are other powers that I want more.

In fact, the ONLY AT where I normally take Hasten is on controllers. The reason being: if your holds don't recharge fast enough, you are dead (unless your secondary is one that helps you stay alive).

On some AT's, like tanks, I see Hasten as an almost complete waste of a power choice. Some powersets benefit a bit, but I don't have any tanks with Hasten except my stone tank (for obvious reasons).

We were told by a redname (twice, if I recall) that it is not a problem. Even if your account actually LAPSES, as long as you reactivate on the same day it lapsed, it counts as continuously active.

    Game Time

First, we'll assume your account is not set to auto-renew. If it won't let you renew, I suspect that it *IS* set to auto-renew, but I'm not sure about that.

Although it seems counter-intuitive, the correct procedure is:
    1) Cancel your account.
    2) Subscribe for X time duration.

Canceling the account actually does NOTHING when you do it. The account will still be active and playable until the expiration date of whatever time period you had previously purchased.

Ah, but I do like them. I like them at any speed. Using Lady Grey as an example, I did 'non speed' runs THREE TIMES last week. However, since there is a badge for assisting on an WST 50 times, I also did 11 speed runs.

And careful observation to test a theory is hardly in the same boat as believing the Earth is flat. My personal OBSERVATIONS are that leaving the pylons does help you get less aggro from Hami.

The only difference it makes is from the perception point of the uneducated player. They may think it makes a difference, so to them it does. Reality says otherwise.
And does it make a difference from the perception point of an arrogant player? You know, the kind that thinks they know more than everyone else.
  12. Sadly, there is not. This has been brought up a few times.

Oh, if he doesn't bring a tank, then maybe I will. I have several that need to earn a Notice of the Well.

Correct, *BUT* if you exemplar below level 45 you lose the benefit of the Alpha boost. If this character is built to only do high level content, then you're fine.

  16. Currently, it does nothing.
Once upon a time, it did actually make the Honoree vulnerable. However, there was one little problem: if the leader lost connection or quit the team, the rest of the team was hosed. So now it's just a visual effect.

Anyway, I'll be there. Not sure who I'll bring; maybe someone who can earn XP.

Bad luck, I guess. The last two times I was on a team that needed GM assistance, we had it in a bit over 5 minutes.

Perhaps you typed the channel name wrong and you're the only person on that channel. Or maybe you found a time when no one is on. You should open your friends list and see who is on the channel. If there really is no one online, there isn't much point in talking on the channel.

If ANYONE was on, they would answer. I'm on the channel but I'm not on during the day on weekdays.
