There was a Dilbert comic strip with a related idea. Dogbert had a program to create names for businesses by taking random terms from Astronomy and Physics.

I haven't replaced any hardware lately, so I don't think I've actually turned mine off in 2012 at all. I restart Windows whenever it updates but I never turn the computer completely off unless I am going out of town.

  6. I have a single endmod in it and it makes a noticeable difference. If I forget to turn it on, it's about the same as forgetting to turn off sprint. My END steadily declines until I detoggle. I guess my build is right near the tipping point of eventually running out of END vs being able to fight indefinitely.

My build has a ton of toggles and Hasten. In order to keep it running, I have a Perf Shifter +END in Stamina plus 53% recovery from set bonuses.... and Conductive Aura.
  7. Interesting. Some people have encountered video issues alt-tabbing from fullscreen mode. I don't see why it would affect audio, but have you tried running the game in windowed mode?

Want to do some research before you comment? There is no rent or fee FOR ANY SIZE PLOT. All plot sizes have zero rent "and that has been that way for a while."

The rent is based on what you put *IN* the base (like storage items).
  10. It makes no different what level the IO is, because of the nature of that category of IO's. It has nothing to do with being in a toggle. The Teleport stealth IO, for example, goes in Teleport powers which are 'click powers'.

Well, most tanker sets get knockback resistance.

Realistically, even the guy standing on the street corner screaming about aliens controlling his mind isn't alone.

You are wrong. I state this as a fact. You are wrong, because you are putting your OPINION forth as if it were FACT. That automatically makes you wrong.

The actual number of points depends on your level. The bonus depends on task force length and ranges from 1/3 to 1/2 of a full level of XP.

So get some kind of vertical movement temp/inherent power. I have a ton of characters with only SS, only Ninja Run, whatever. I have the Good vs Evil jump pack and the Steampunk pack bound to my numeric keypad so I can trigger them instantly on any character.

Plus anyone can buy a raptor pack that last 2 hours for just 10,000 inf.

Just kidding. Couldn't resist with that big Rangers logo there. I don't really follow hockey, but I like the Rangers. Although it's probably mainly because I live in (and grew up in) NY City.

Absolutely. But the key point is that some things you see as a problem are completely different for me. We are looking at the same facts but you dislike them and I like them.

But you are right that it's a subjective decision. I don't value having many slots on all servers because I only play on one server.
Perfect example. This is something I value because I play regularly on 3 servers and once in a blue Moon on 2 others.

Because of what I subjectively value, VIP is a lousy deal compared to Premium. I am not the only player who feels that way.
Okay. However, there is strong evidence (i.e. devs and community people saying that the new business model has been very effective) that a greater number of people feel differently from you. I'm not saying this means you (or anyone) should be ignored, but the devs are going to steer the game where they perceive the money to be.

Anyone who says that's wrong is trying to pass THEIR opinion off as fact. You can't change my subjective opinion of how I'm being treated as a VIP subscriber. Only Paragon studios can do that by improving the VIP reward program.
Tiny change to that statement: Only Paragon Studios can do that by *CHANGING* the VIP reward program. If the current scheme is preferred by a majority of the players, then a change might cost more players than it brings in. That wouldn't be an 'improvement'.

Frankly, if you throw enough inf at it, I would think any armor set would make you happy.

Electric is good. Personally, my favorite is invuln. I've taken every set to 50, but invuln is the only one that I've taken to 50 more than once (two 50's and one currently at 47).

My only gripe about electric armor - Grounded only works while you're on the ground. My guy is electric/electric and Lightning Rod involves being off the ground briefly - long enough for enemies to bounce you around. Just remember to not hit the space bar in combat.

Time for the 'obligatory ParagonWiki link'.

Infinity was doing Really Hard Way runs every Sunday night after the Mothership raid. No run on 2XP weekend or last weekend. Not sure if they are going to resume. Seems likely, though. Lots of people (including myself) upgraded existing characters to help on the runs. After getting the badge on my scrapper, I got my fire/thermal corr the tier 4 powers most suited for RHW (and MoMagi in general). I think I've been on 5 successful RHW runs with my corr (maybe 6).

But yes, it is primarily about money. As I said in another thread today, people who pay more get more. And that's an effective strategy to get more people to pony up some cash. I'm willing to pay for unrestricted (VIP) access and I've been playing nearly 8 years. I'm still very happy with the game and would like to play for many additional years. If they start giving everything away for free, the game won't last very long. They have to strike a balance and I think they're doing a good job of it so far.

I don't have a strong opinion about the Test Server SPECIFICALLY. In that situation, my default position on a feature is that it should continue to be restricted to VIP's. There are some things it would clearly be harmful to the game to be restricted - forum access, for example. If Premium players can't come here and ask for help, that would be bad. Firstly, they would be hindered in their enjoyment of the game if they can't figure something out on their own. Second, we have a particularly helpful and friendly community and that's a strong selling point.

So, in the absence of a clear and compelling reason to have full access, the default position should be to restrict access to VIP's to encourage more people to subscribe. Not a popular position, perhaps, but a prudent one for the long-term benefit of the game.
