Quote:We read from left to right. When we scan a face we look at the eyes first and then down to the body. And so your smilies are backwards!Yeah, it's one of those things that entirely depends on who you ask and rarely matters in the slightest. I only mentioned it as a point of "this is how to write, humble student!"
Grammar Nazis, on the other hand, would point out that your "seriously" should be placed before "need"; not "get." (-:
(-: should be :-)

Such a long thread about None Expanding Recreational Foam!
And I agree with Lothic's description of Nerf. Oh, and Street Justice is the awesome sauce. -

I still don't know what this thread is about. But I thought I'd post here to look cool. And hey, fountains make noise now!

What I'm getting from this thread is that a very large part of the success of the CoH: Freedom model is falling on the shoulders of the VIP/Premium players.
I have the choice as a VIP to either ignore the FTP players completely or spend at least some minimal amount of my limited play time being a personal mentor to complete strangers. But I need to be standing right next to them to have a conversation. I do have the option of adding them as friends. Let's see, I've got just 8 people on my friends list after 7 years, so sure, I have plenty of room and would love to start adding the names of random strangers so that they can send me messages every time I log into the game--Oh wait!
The FTP people need their own chat channel. I would love to monitor it and help them out when I am in the mood. But I've already had to stop monitoring the Help channel because of the spam. And I miss it. It always felt good to answer questions and give friendly suggestions. -
And here we walk a knife edge when it comes to FTP players. We don't want the FTP experience to be so awesome that they never consider going VIP or Premium. But worse still, would be a FTP experience that is so shallow that they leave before giving the game a chance. I think we just need to give it more time the way it is for now.
But definitely, some better way of distinguishing between VIP, Premium, and FTP players would make setting up teams and leagues easier. -
Thank you GG! From one page to the next I just couldn't put it down. The personal back-and-forth between the characters really made me care about them all. Awesome!
-
I'm going to start monitoring the Help channel again so that I can click on the names of spammers and select the "Report As Spammer" option. If everyone quickly does this I'm sure they will be dwelt with in a timely fashion.

Run the 2nd mission of the arc on a level 11 Dark/Dark blaster... Winning by letting a timer run down that despawns all the Ignious ambush mobs, instead of defeating them all, is Fail in my opinion. Not much to be proud about at least.

Quote:I completely sympathize with them. While some characters (depending on powers) can easily solo this story arc--which I found awesome--some characters, even at level 50, will fail completely. Add to that the exempt to level 20 and lose of so many powers and, yeah, I can see why some would be irratated.Oh and to the guy who quit after losing 2/3 of their powers? Really? Really? lol
Edit: Oh, So my squishies can leave the mission and let the timer run out on those ignious ambushes, then re-enter the mission to complete it? Okay then. -
Quote:You're either a genius at sarcasm, or completely nuts, Infernus. I really hope it's the sarcasm one.You do realize I am paying real money not Beta money?
You do realize this "head start" is not optional?
You do realize there is no way to play the original game without the "head start"?
You do realize it is LIVE. It is not a BETA TEST NOW. If it needs more testing put the damn game back to TEST and off LIVE. What a load of codswallop. -
Gee, I always thougth that male widows were called widowers. And also in Z's defense, I've been here since release and never assumed that Widow VEATs could be male since there are no NPC male widows that I have ever seen in game.

I took the tram to Kings Row and back to Atlas Park and had the same sever drop in FPS that the OP describes. From my 30-35 normal FPS to about 7 FPS. Exited the game and came back and everything was fine. So far it's only happened one time.

Indeed! When I got a mission that told me to "arrest" 10 Skulls in Kings Row I just ignored the waypoint marker and found the mobs elsewhere.
I understand the reason for these changes to how mobs spawn (I loved the original "ninja" spawning where mobs didn't spawn if you were near their spawn point). But the mobs spawning on top of us now is totally immersion breaking. I really don't like it at all. -
Quote:This describes my "play style" even after 7 years of playing. My "main" character is Bloodmoore, a time manip/energy blast defender, but at the moment I'm exploring as many archetypes as possible to try and get a fell for what I like best
And welcome to the game, Rapthorne! -
I don't use Mids to design my characters (I like to play them while doing that so that I can make power choices by feel). But I always use Mids when I need to respec a character. Thank you Diellan for all your effort!

I've never been into super hero comics. I'm more of a science fiction person. I love Jules Verne and Isaac Asimov. I honestly can't recall where I heard about CoH. It was the last MMORPG I ever jumped into on release day (Oh woe to those who do that now-a-days).

Quote:This a thousand times. Dropped right into the middle of the action and I am not ready to proceed until I adjust my UI, Powers, Vet powers, etc. We need to appear somewhere first where the action isn't happening all around us. Maybe a bunker where we have exit a door into the action after we've had a chance to do the UI/Powers setup thing that I'm sure everyone does with a new character.2) The opening scene of the actual tutorial made me feel utterly useless and inconsequential. I'm dropped into the middle of a dire emergency, and I have to (as usual) spend the next two minutes adjusting my powers in the powers trays, adjusting my keymapping, adjusting my options and chat window settings, etc., all while there's a battle raging on...

Quote:/threadIf you power level through City of Heroes on the theory that "the end game is where the real game starts" then you will miss out on most of what the game has to offer.
I'd like to add that if 'End Game' is what you look for when selecting a MMORPG that would be like selecting a resturant based only upon what kind of deserts they offer.
