I hate it when Bad Stuff happens. Hope those grey skies clear up a bit for ya.
Looking forward to the next installment. Your characters are lively and memorable. -
Glad you are okay LSK. Hope your friends are safe.

My heart goes out to those who have lost loved ones, and to those who survived.
This was an act that took time, effort, money... pre-planning. There is no doubt that this guy planned to "look the part" for this particular show. sick. -
Quote:As several other folks have pointed out, there have always been extras (costumes, powersets, content) that we've had to pay for on top of our subscriptions. The only thing that has changed is that the system for getting those extras is now a bit more flexible.Eh, they release content that I can't use unless I wait an additional 2 months for 800 points or spend even more money on top of my $15 subscription... so no.. I am losing love for the CoH devs.
Quote:Not sure what game the OP is playing but he got Banned for doing something wrong.
There's nothing like looking in to another game's forums to bring home a certain appreciation for CoH Community. In some other places, there is a tone of "our way or the highway", or even just silence. While we may not always agree with our devs and mods, they at least set a tone for reasonable discussion. -

Wow..... Look what happens when I take a few days off.

Quote:Once again, Fire Away hits the bulls-eye. (bolding my emphasis)
From the base raids "on the box" let down to the "All your base are belong to us" failure, to the "bases will have their day in the sun" broken promise, to the "big plans waiting in the wings" broken promise to the "new textures: suggestions?" broken promise to the "All things art: bases" broken promise (no code needed by the way) to the latest "we are committing" for base transfers one year no results thing it's been a cycle of mostly neglect and failure. How anyone can spin this as the devs are "doing what they can" is beyond me... especially when, like I said (and you did not refute) there are at least some simple things they could do and be successful... if they wanted to finally devote some attention to it.
I'll concede the no experience in coding (at least base coding) point. However, I do not believe the state of the code should be a free pass license to excuse poor performance and results. How did the legacy system become a legacy system? Aferall, people come and go between jobs all the time. I'll answer that one. It's from (a) not doing their homework to start with on the documentation side and (b) putting bases on largely ignore as not important enough as a priority. I also don't believe there is no one in the world available that can make the code situation better... if PS wanted to do that.
The reason bases offer little financial benefit is because the devs are using the completely wrong approach. By catering to mostly a small group of elite base builders ... they limit their market niche. Personal housing would solve this. Also, if the devs had lived up to another broken promise... that to make bases more "fun and functional" for everyone in an sg, the universal appeal of bases would be evident and we would not be having this discussion.
Though I am not ungrateful for the small bits of improvement we've seen, there have indeed been several lapses when it comes to follow through on other things mentioned and discussed. It has been enough of a pattern to jade even the cheerfullest cheer leader.
At the Summit, I asked a certain person about the debilitation of group functions for bases, and if there would be any development for superGROUPS, the answer I got was something along these lines:The base community is such a niche group, and we wanted to open up those perks to everyone. We're really looking to make it so everyone has the same accessibility in the game, not just a small community.
When I mentioned that making bases more functional for a GROUP might make it less of a niche, and more interesting for the social aspect of GROUPING, thereby making it more appealing to more players.... The person I was talking to just sorta shifted uncomfortably in their chair and muttered platitudes about "keeping an eye on it".
Yeah... I know when I've been blown off.

Once upon a time, a long long time ago, in the age of magic desks and double doors, I believe this thread was actually stickied.

Was it actually a color issue, or a "lighting" issue. I noticed it on the one character that I have it on, but it seemed that it was more about "lighting"... When I turned, depending on the lighting angle, the top would go into shadow and the bottom would be "lit". Making a complete turn would reverse the effect.

edit... doh! didn't see DLancer's post. -
I've been avoiding this kind of topic for a while, because... well... Let's just say I was not encouraged by my very brief conversation with a certain Dev at the Player Summit. I came away with a very distinct impression that there would not be much more than bare minimum investment in bases for the foreseeable future.

I could only hope that I overpowered the vocals enough to get my own lyrics heard.... without going too far out of key. ugh!

Quote:I don't think that will work if there is an item obstructing or imbedded in the wall.Check up on the top right when you're in item laying mode, and when you click the square the wall is on. It'll show a little layered chart, just click to remove whichever layers you want.
What I usually do is scroll my camera out and angle it from underneath the floor of the base in edit mode. Then select the offending item and delete it.
If that fails, I usually go into the "current room" tab (you need to be standing in the affected room), scroll through the mass of crap until I find the offending item, and "sell" (delete) it from there.
A note about the "current room" tab: it adds items to the end of the bar/list as you add them to the room... So it's kinda time-related. If you placed something early on in your decorating, it will appear at the beginning of the bar/list. If you *just* placed something, it will appear at the end of the bar/list. If you know you placed a few other things within the same time frame, you can look for the same "group" of items to find the one you need.
Hope that helps a little.

Thanks for the help guys.
I called the phone number, and it is apparently only being used for disputed charges.
So, I logged into the Live Chat.
After a little explaining (Lucy!), the GM escalated me to the next level.
Someone ahead of me must've had a doozie of a problem, 'cause it was a considerable wait.
But it was worth it.
After I explained that they had simply beat me to the punch on the charge, he graciously waited online for me to re-sub, and added the extra month manually.
Kudos to both reps who helped me today.

lol... It wouldn't do me any good to try and address it through M/C, since I'm not exactly disputing a charge, but am rather inquiring what I will be getting for the next charge.
In other words, "Here! I have money! But please tell me what I'll be getting for it."
Really, it's that simple.

Quote:Y'know, at first I thought the same thing. Except that, when I asked the question for the second time (in the 4th e-mail), they responded with an exact copy-pasta of their previous reply. I thought that was kinda rude (and yes, it was the same person who did it). So, it's been 24 hrs since I sent them 2 more notes on the question.... That tells me that someone is intentionally shelving my ticket.I'm guessing that whoever was handling the ticket didn't directly have an answer about the 6+1 in this case and had to ask someone. Since the person they have to ask is in Account or Billing Support, they may not be on the same shifts and may be still waiting to get a response from them.
ETA: Just checked, and I cannot PM anyone on the forums with my current status.... Thanks, TJ

I considered PMing Zwil, but wasn't sure if I'd be able to with my now nonVIP status.
I also noticed that the live chat function didn't seem to be functioning... though I didn't see a time frame posted.
Thanks for the info.... guess I'll have to get a jump on it tomorrow.
My fear is, now that this has been dragged out for a few days, that the "deal" will be considered off. -
So here I am, hanging out in limbo, waiting for CS to answer a question before I re-subscribe.
Here's the story...
- Nov. 14, I re-subbed for 6 months.
- Nov. 28, I signed up for the 6 +1 holiday special. I was notified that it would go into effect on May 14. cool.
- Fast forward to Monday... May 14. I'm thinking all morning, "there's something I need to do." Then I remember that since our little road trip for the Player Summit put a sizable dent in my ccard, I need to make a payment to it. So I do this at about 12:30-ish, and go along my merry way.
- 'Round about 4-ish, I finally get around to checking my e-mail for the day. Imagine my surprise when I see a notice saying my account had expired. I think it's a mistake, because when I made my ccard payment, I requested my available balance, and I know there is enough to cover the subscription.
- Just to cover my bases, I check my NCSoft account. And I discover that my ccard info is missing! This is a card that has been attached to my account for nearly 5 years.
- So I send in a ticket. In it, I mention that a) I don't know what happened to my ccard info on my account, b) I don't know why my account has been expired, c) what happens to the 6+1 special I signed up for?
- Now, it took a little repetitious back and forth, but I came to the conclusion that NCSoft apparently tried to process the subscription charge a mere 20-30 minutes before I made my ccard payment. So it simply came down to a matter of timing. I can certainly re-subscribe, but there remains the last question...
- Will I get the 6+1 special that I signed up for in November?
So... who do I call?
I checked the NCSoft Support pages, and the phone option does not seem to be in evidence. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong spot, but I seriously could not find an 800 number or anything along those lines.
Does anyone know what's up with that? -
Quote:Huh.... I thought it was just the red wine...Quote:Quote:Quote:They say this is the case but then how come when my Staff is out and I get mystic fortune cast of me I do a dragons tail. Did they animate staff so it could do dragons tail and if so why? What's the real deal I wonder?
When you say "Dragon's Tail" are you referring to the leg sweep animation?
It appears when you have your "Staff out"? Meaning you have the Staff Fighting powerset, and it only happens when you have recently clicked a power and the staff still appears in your character's hands? And then Mystic Fortune is cast on you by another player?
If so - PM me would you? And let me know where you saw this - on a Live server, or Beta...
I would appreciate it!
Arbiter Warrant
EDIT: Almost forgot... First After a Red Name...
Thank you for the time...
This happened to me last night on live servers, Justice, in the middle of some mission that I can't recall. It did seem to happen in correlation with Mystic Fortune... but only happened once. I was on my Kin/Arch defender. -
Don't really have the time to build an example, but this would be my thought process...
Since we can now angle items by increments, I would start with a basic circle of ramps, instead of just lining the room edges....
Start with a tight circle on the lowest level, go up a "ramp level" and make another wider circle, go up another level, make a wider circle...
Make one level a transition level, with flat wall items... cabinets, maybe.
Next set of levels, turn the ramps around so the backsides show, leaning inward.
Make each circle level smaller, going to the top.
Build your floating bridge to the middle of the room. -
Interesting thread....
While I'm all for being generally good humored and polite to folks, I don't rely on other people for my own happiness... therefore, I don't expect people to rely on me for theirs.

1. Superleader gets demoted (or leaves)
2. Red Star is assigned to "General A", who is qualified by being the toon of the next rank down to have most recently logged in (say, 2 days ago).
3. "General B" logs in before "General A" logs in again. Star now goes to "General B" because his most recent login now beats "General A".
So... your best bet is to "assign" the star.
a) after Superleader leaves, immediately log in your desired new leader (of the next rank down). Works fine for "solo" or very small SGs
b) dual box it... login on your Leader on one account, and an alt on a second account. Pass the star manually between the toons.
c) give the star to someone you trust to give it back....
