  1. I am returning to the world of tankers after a long while away from the game and what little time i have been on has been spent with trollers. My question revolves around Burn. It used to be an extremely powerful attack back in the day then fear was bumped up to a point that mobs would run out of it ASAP. Coming back, is it still something to leave off a build or if you do take it should you be taking other powers to make it useful? (ie: caltrops)

    I'm looking to respec my fire/fire/tank so any help would be greatly appreciated.

  3. The Troller version you can also stack fire cages with it and by spamming fire cages it does decent damage while not knocking the mobs away. VERY useful if you can pull it off.
  4. I am contemplating using a respec and changing out a few powers on my fire/kin/fire.

    With the build I have now I am at 39.1% defense to S/L, I have combat jumping 2 slotted with a LOTG and Enzyme HO and kick 4 slotted with kinetic combat for the S/L defense bonus.

    I'm thinking about removing kick and going with Cinders, and possibly replacing combat jumping with maneuvers.

    combat jumping provides 3.34% defense for maneuvers 4.18% defense (when the powers are slotted the way I plan).

    Basically I am dropping kick which is 4 slotted with kinetic combat for the 3.75% defense bonus for Cinders and thinking about also changing the 2 powers above. Is the small gain in defense worth the loss of immob protection?

    With the changes I'll be sitting at 35.4% Defense to S/L but I will have Cinders to mitigate assuming I dont change out combat jumping.

    Any ideas or suggestions?
  5. I have tried all the different farmers I know of over the years.

    Fire/Fire Tank
    Inv/Fire Tank
    Spines/Regen Scrapper
    Spines/Dark Scrapper
    Fire/Inv Scrapper
    Fire/Rad Controller
    Fire/Kin Controller (both fire and stone Epics)
    Rad/Rad Defender (although not nearly as fast as the above but still.... I USED HIM FOR FARMING!) lol


    The bottom line is I've made alot of farmers over my 5+ years in COH. Now I'm wondering what other challenges are out there. It got me thinking... I love the fire powers! Why not try making a Fire/Fire Blaster to tackle Battle Maiden and such. With IO's and a few 4 slotted melee attacks I can easily get to 30% Defense and 65% Resist to S/L attacks and that's without me knowing the first thing about Blasters. If anyone out there has attempted this I would love to hear from you on the idea and any tips or build ideas would be greatly appreciated. Like what powers are good and which are worthless. This doesn't even have to be fire/fire/fire at all. I just like the fire theme and I'm more familiar with the powers for the most part.

    Anything the community can offer would be greatly appreciated.
  6. I'm finishing up a second build with fire/kin/stone and I have a build that I mapped out and I'm kinda wondering if I could use my slotting more efficiently. I have everything slotted except for Fissure, Seismic Smash and Hurl Boulder. I'm not totally sold on Hurl Boulder yet so feel free to change it around if you feel something could be slotted better or if there are better power selections available.

  7. I would normally think that and since I dont have any enzyme's on hand I cant prove it but MIDS is usually spot on when it comes to things like this. I seem to remember there being some discussion about this subject but I'm coming up with nada in search.


    I borrowed 100mil from another toon and bought one then copied over to test and I can confirm that at least on test you can slot them into defense powers and get the 33% effect in your defense instead of 20% as well as 33% for your endurance.
  8. I was playing around with MIDS hero designer and it shows I can slot Enzyme Exposure Hami O's into Weave. Now it is a defense debuff so is this a glitch or one of those working as intended unintendedly things?

  14. This is the build I run. I'm not the best farmer on the planet but I do VERY darn well. This build is expensive but doesn't cost half what some builds with stone epic do. I like fire epic for the extra damage. not much more but enough. I feel it is more balanced. If you can afford the 3% defense IO you'll be at 38% defense which is a ton and considering you're also at 65% resist along with that you will live through +4 mobs with no problems.

  18. Someone posted that fire/kin's aren't very survivable. They obviously haven't seen a very solid build. While this may be true of early levels that just isn't the case for the later levels. The build below is the one I currently run on my level 50 fire/kin. This build isn't meant for lockdown control and loses speed boost which some like. I teamed with alot of people that loved SB for the end gain but didn't want it used because of the speed portion so I deleted it from my build. It is a spendy build but it is meant for mowing down the enemies as fast as can. I can act like a tank and just wade into the groups without dying.

    what attack chain do you use?
    If you look at the build and have any idea of the mechanics of IO's you would understand. Otherwise you're clueless. As a farmer you don't need anything for teaming. It's damage and damage mitigation. The reason you take powers like flurry instead of powers like Speed Boost is easy. Speed Boost can only be used on you teammates. Flurry can be 4 slotted with Kinetic Combats which give you a 3.75% defense to S/L. Powers like ring of fire instead of char... again same thing, 4 slot it with enfeebled operation and you get 2.5% defense to S/L. Add that all up and you're almost at the S/L defense cap and still keep your DPS up. The idea is that you can easily fight +3 and +4 level mobs like in Battle Maiden and not DIE!

    As for attack chain.

    fire cages, flashfire, fulcrum shift, fireball.... add in siphon power and siphon speed where you can and fireblast for bosses. Between hot feet and imps everything should be dead in quick order.
