Farming Controller Question
At work so I can't open the chunk to look at your stats, but to answer your question:

But i have had to take a hiatus from the game, and maybe im just missing something... Why are all the builds posted here for a farmer only have around 20% or so meele/ranged and AOE defense?[...] |
The Melee Teaming Guide for Melee Mans
Most people run the Council or Battle Maiden missions for farming, which are all Smashing/Lethal damage. So getting more than 45% Defense to Smashing/Lethal is mostly wasted. Your build has about 54% to Smashing/Lethal.

I must play odd then, my fire/kin is slotted to get as much recharge as i could get so i could get flashfire up every mob and if 2 mobs are close use cinders on closet and flashfire the further mob to prevent to imps aggroing to many .
Pity there is not a program to pull your build out of coh into mids or i would post it .
Suffice to say i used my fire /kin to make the inf for my perma PA build that local-man posted.

What's changed is that defensive set bonuses that come with inventions have largely obviated the need for the mass AoE control. Smash/lethal defense means you can just fire cage a group and wade in, essentially skipping the slow animation of flashfire.
I still use flashfire since I tend to be cautious when farming. Mezzed mobs + smash/lethal defense = almost perfect safety. It's particularly useful when there's more than just myself on the map and bosses are present.
And OP - a "monster" (expensive) farming fire/kin build will generally have soft capped (45%+) smash/lethal defense, high recharge (80%+) and high recovery (3.5 end/sec+).
Probably true i built my fire/kin very cheaply before i had much inf and although it may not be uber it is still fast enough for me .

Nope, other than the across-the-board "Pets now have a fixed recharge" change I mentioned in your Ill/Storm guide. Also Imps now spawn at -1.
Neither change is particularly noticeable on my Fire/Rad though.
This is the fire/kin/stone I use softcap to S/L with melee at 20%, 75%recharge. end rec @ 3.25/s

Two suggestions beyond what others have said...
With those 5 Ragnaroks, you're WAY over the ED cap for damage enhancement. If you trade out the Ragnarok - Damage for the proc, you'll still be at the enhancement cap for damage, and get the bonus proc damage.

EDIT:: Something is up. I re-read my post, Mids says i have 50+% smashing/lethal defense, 42.3% meele, 32.9% ranged, and 22.3% AOE.... Am i seeing something wrong here? even the combat window in game says those are my stats.
